Today marks the beginning of another incredible chapter with Workday completing the acquisition of HiredScore, and the one word that comes to my mind is "Gratitude". I have been incredibly blessed over my career. From academia to industry, I've had the opportunity to work for some truly incredible leaders and thinkers. All titans of their profession that have taught me so much and helped shape me into the professional I am today. But this last year, I've grown in ways I'd never imagined. Learned and done so much, and to be capped off by this amazing opportunity?! I have nothing but gratitude to Athena Karp, my incredible peers on the HiredScore leadership team (Jason Scheckner, Shlomi Itzhak, Yonatan Tsur, Ofri Blau, Kevin Varadian (he/him)) for welcoming me, trusting me, and supporting me, and my team for always delivering for HiredScore. 📝As a follow up to the predictions post on skills being overhyped. Here is my more detailed breakdown of why that’s the case. 💭 Here are the key takeaways: 1. You never hired for just one skill but a combination of skills, which is basically the same as a job. 2. You never hired for someone who says they have a skill, but not validated through experience or some type of assessment, so there’s no change to the process. 3. You never hired for just skills or experience, most hiring manager do already consider the whole person/“cultural fit,” so it’s not really a cultural change. Like they say, “If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, and acts like a duck….it’s a duck 🦆” 🧰Skills-based organizations, in theory are different, but in execution, it’s the same. Part 2 of my conference season reflection. 📝 I've seen and built many demos in my career, so my 🕸 Spidey senses start to tingle, especially if the demo seems good to be true. I saw a lot of AI for HR demos that set off those alarms 🚨 . AI for HR is difficult, because people are complicated, organizational processes are complex, and consistently modeling change over time is challenging. It's important to think about how your AI solution accounts for 👩💻 people 👨💻 , process ⚙ , and time ⏱.
