Do you know what ALT text is? If you don't suffer from sight loss, chances are you don't
Whenever you upload an image to social media you can click on the ALT text box to add an image description. Many people with sight loss use screen readers that will read out the description so that they don't miss any part of your post, and have a similar experience to people with sight.
This is even more important when your image includes additional key info not contained within the text of your post e.g. job titles, locations, dates etc
A quick and easy way of writing ALT text is ChatGPT, here's an example:
"Emily (left) and Eleanor (right) are standing together in front of a step-and-repeat banner featuring various sponsor logos. The woman on the left is wearing a black and white patterned jumpsuit and the woman on the right is wearing a floral dress with long sleeves. Both women are smiling and appear to be at the MCV/Develop Awards 2024 event. The background displays logos from sponsors such as Liquid Crimson, Raptor PR, Portal, Press Engine, Diva, and others."
Did you know this? Will you be adding ALT text to your posts?
