Flavour matters when it comes to launching a new spirit or wine. BUT..... They'll never get to taste it, if they don't buy it. Like many industries, first impressions are everything. Your bottle needs to stand out in a crowded market, and you can’t rely on consumers buying it because it ‘might’ taste good. It needs to convince them right away. That's how we support our clients. Your drink's appearance during those crucial first moments is vital. We ensure your bottle looks stunning, your embellishments and labels are meaningful and a perfect fit for your brand and bottle. All so your drink is ready to fly off both physical and digital shelves into consumers’ baskets. #consumerbehaviour #drinksindustry #industryinsights #premiummarket #premiumdrinks #packaging #packdesign #branding #marketing #signetbranding #signet

I help my clients to avoid competing on price. Can I help you? We worked with a food producer a few years ago. They were well-established. In fact they were VERY well-established. They had been in business since 1865. But they were being squeezed on price. They were delivering premium quality produce. But their customers were unwilling to pay a premium price. So they came to talk to me. We talked about creating a brand strategy. We talked about changing the opinion customers had of the company. Instead of talking about price, we would talk about quality. The company had been in business for almost 150 years. You don’t last that long if you’re not really good at what you do. So we created a brand strategy that focused on quality. The quality of the produce. The quality of the service. The quality of the team. This gave them an edge. A very narrow edge - but an edge, in a very competitive market. It gave them a bit more margin - a little more profit, in a very competitive market. So, if you don’t want to compete on price… …talk about something else. __________ If you would like to have a chat about how to avoid competing on price, do let me know. I’ve been doing this for thirty years, so I’d be happy to share some of that experience. #Brand #BrandStrategy #Price

Increasing your marketing or sales budget is a waste of time If you haven’t fixed your positioning Sure you have a much wider reach Say a 100,000 people come in contact with your product compared to 20,000 in the past That’s more damaging than helpful if your positioning is weak Because positioning tells people what you do, Who you’re for and how your product can help them And if you tell them your product is not for them Then they’re going to pass on you and likely will do so again in the future Positioning tells prospects how to think of your product You might have tunnel vision from all the time you’ve spent working on your product You know what it does, you have a clear understanding of its features and benefits Of course you do, heck you ideated this stuff and likely put it all there But THEY don’t They weren’t with you every step of the way So if you’ve been pumping cash into pushing your product into people’s faces some more Only to come away with little results and a massive hole in your budget Maybe it’s time to take a step back and reconsider your positioning Are you selling to the right people? Do the right people know what you’re serving? If your prospects want pancakes Do you dress your pancakes like bean burritos? And call them pancakes? Or do you drizzle them with syrup Top them with whipped cream and blueberries And call them luxury pancakes?

- I just hate it! - I share my frustration. - I feel such a loser if I run out of laundry detergent or toilet paper and have to buy them without a discount. - This never happens to me! - a fellow marketer grins. - I always stock up. He looks so proud. This is a real conversation I had discussing effectiveness of price promotions. And today I come across this snippet by IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising), proving that price promotions aren't that effective in increasing sales, but they indeed do change consumer behaviour. The visible uplift in sales actually comes mostly from the sales that either would have happened in other time (time shifted) or in other place (subsidised). In other words, price promotions aren't profitable because consumer do stock up. Or scroll frantically through promotional magazines looking which supermarket has a sale on laundry detergent this week. As I'm running out. It seems that everyone loves pumpkin spice to the point the flavor profile is applied to just about every product. In today’s brandivate #blog, I explain why applying this “cut-and-paste” mentality is bad for innovation and bad for business. #marketing #branding #beunique
