🚀 Encouraging More Women in STEM Leadership! Did you know that women in India make up 43% STEM graduates. In 2023, women continue to outpace men in earning college degrees? Approximately 39% of women aged 25 and older hold a bachelor’s degree or higher, compared to 36.2% of men. However, despite significant progress, women still remain underrepresented in many STEM fields. Women make up about 28% of the workforce in science and engineering, with notable representation in chemistry (39%) and biological sciences (48%). Moreover, women dominate the pharmacy sector, constituting around 63% of pharmacists. To build on this progress and ensure women's voices are heard in critical decision-making processes, we need more women to step up as leaders. One impactful way to do this is by joining the USP Nominating Committee. Your expertise and perspective can drive significant advancements in science and healthcare. 🔹 Why Join the USP Nominating Committee? - Influence the future of science and healthcare. - Support and mentor the next generation of women in STEM. - Ensure diverse representation in key scientific and regulatory decisions. Let's continue breaking barriers and shaping the future together. Consider applying to be a part of the USP Nominating Committee. https://lnkd.in/d2Q8Q9Vi Your leadership can make a difference! 💪🌟 #WomenInSTEM #Leadership #DiversityInScience #USPNominatingCommittee #STEMWomen #Empowerment

Califf: Current evidence-generation system in clinical research needs an overhaul - Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS) Clinical research in the US needs an overhaul to better optimize health outcomes in a way that matches ad #fda #technology #clinicalresearch #clinicaltrials #regulatoryaffairs vances in biomedical science, according to a recent perspective authored by FDA US Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Robert M. Califf, published in Clinical Trials journal. “Biomedical science and technology are undergoing a remarkable period of discovery and development, one driven in large part by the innovations of US scientists and engineers. Unfortunately, these advances are not resulting in superior health outcomes for US patients and consumers,” Califf wrote in the paper. “However, if supported by effective policies and investment, the intersection of discovery in biomedical science, technology, and communication has the potential to usher in a new era of better health for the United States and the world.” Solving these problems will require a focus on three key domains: (1) improving the integration of and access to high-quality data from traditional clinical trials, electronic health records, and personal devices and wearable sensors; (2) restructuring clinical research operations to support and incentivize the involvement of patients and frontline clinicians; and (3) articulating ethical constructs that enable responsible data sharing to support improved implementation. Finally, we must also address the systemic tendency to optimize individual components of the clinical research enterprise without considering the effects on the system as a whole. https://lnkd.in/eusmwcJF

FINDINGS OF RESEARCH MISCONDUCT: According to NIH NOT-OD-24-141, an academic leader who held the title of Professor, Chairman, and Executive Vice President of a pharmaceutical research institute at a college of pharmacy and health sciences was found guilty of scientific misconduct. What did they do? There were two main types of misconduct. In the first, they “intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly falsifying and/or fabricating chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assays” to make the assay data come out favorable to their hypothesis. The second was simpler. They took lab images showing something, and labeled them as showing something else. Basically, the author relabeled which treatment group they were from to make the treatment they wanted to win come out ahead. This impacted peer-reviewed articles published in 2005, 2013, and 2023. What should be the solution? It is a privilege to get grants, do research and publish. How do we treat this researcher so that we stop the problem from that individual while simultaneously discouraging it from others? In this case, guess what happened to the researcher. Here are the choices: 🔵The researcher will be fired and prevented from getting grants again to do research. 🔵The researcher will retract all three papers, be demoted, and not be able to do research again. 🔵The researcher will retain their job and not be fired, but be demoted, never be a research leader again, never receive grant money again, and be supervised constantly. 🔵The institution will not punish the researcher. Instead, they will promise to supervise them more intensely for four years, and ask them to retract one paper. Guess the answer, then read the result here: https://lnkd.in/dxFafgkC As you can see by the result, it is better to prevent scientific misconduct on your team than to try to stop it after it happens. You can also prevent plagiarism and scientific misconduct in your classroom. Want to know how? Schedule a 30-minute free consultation on Zoom with our experts, and we will give you advice on how to prevent scientific misconduct on your team: https://lnkd.in/dAAc_kgd #R4sasUsers #DethwenchLive #healthcare #dataanalytics #rstats
