How I Landed an Interview on LinkedIn In the past months I have sent a lot of applications even mostly for volunteer product manager roles, with a lot of NOs and others no feedback at all. I still send anyway 😁 It has been a busy couple of weeks, leaving me with little time to check my emails and send out applications as I usually do. A few weeks ago, I received an interview offer from a company for the position of an associate product manager, one of the many roles I had applied for. I was particularly surprised because it was the first interview I had received without any prior connections or referrals. I only knew about the company, its services, and the fact that it was not a small organization. I felt a sense of pride in myself, knowing that they considered me good enough to invite for an interview and at this point I didnt even think so much if I would get the job or not, I was just happy they wanted to meet me Thinking about how far I have come in what I would consider a short time with overwhelming support, I have realised no matter how hard, or long the journey may seem, there is always progress and sometimes we fail to see it but I choose to count my small small wins. I am not close to where I want to be but definitely way better than where I am coming for They are a lot of mini wins I have had in my career and life journey and that's what keeps me going Keep going and no matter how slow it may seem, there is progress, consistency is really the key #self growth #self development #product management

This is going to be a good week for anybody looking for a job especially product managers. 4th of July is on Thursday and that means nobody is working on Wednesday or Friday except for me and few other crazy people. This is the week hiring managers are going to get pinged the least because you’re telling yourself what’s the point. Perfect. Somebody is going to grab all those jobs 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 The first November Product Gym was officially in business I remember everybody telling themselves that nobody is interviewing during the holidays. Between Black Friday and Christmas Eve I had one lady pull 51 interviews. Last Christmas was the same thing one of our members was averaging 25+ interviews a week. Push yourself to the absolute limit for 3 months straight and surprise yourself what you can accomplish or don’t. Somebody else is going to give it all they got to chase their dreams, so no more complaining about the market being bad. #productmanagement

Product Manager Career Coach | I help ambitious Product Managers transform into highly respected Product Leaders making 50%+ income in a dream role WITHOUT working more or getting certified | Free Breakthrough Session⬇️
The 5 Biggest Mistakes in Looking for a New Product Management Role: 1. Clicking the “easy button” when applying for roles 2. Treating a job search as a check-the-box exercise 3. Focusing 100% on a strategy without aligning your mindset 4. Getting trapped in frameworks 5. Only practicing interviews with your peers Job seekers with these same struggles, here’s my advice: 1. Be intentional in the jobs you're going after and applying for 2. Interviews are less about meeting exact qualifications and more about confidence in your storytelling. 3. Your focus should be 80% mindset and 20% strategy 4. Go beyond frameworks and develop the skills to be flexible within them 5. Get interview feedback from people who actually interview PMs What else do you struggle with? Drop them in the comments below. ⬇️ #productmanagement #careers #intentionalproductmanager

Senior Product Manager | Balancing user needs with business goals to create valuable product outcomes
Let’s talk about soft skills in #jobinterviews for #productdesign and #productmanager positions. Good communication and storytelling are super important, but sometimes it feels like people focus too much on delivery rather than the content. What about other stuff like past job results, referrals, being able to handle different situations, taking feedback, motivation about the role, adapting to change, teamwork, and thinking through problems? Ever been in a team with great talkers but not much action or lousy execution? The best teams I’ve been on had a mix of skills. Everyone supported each other with their strengths, whether analyzing problems, proposing technical solutions, brainstorming, or communicating and summarizing the message. The cool thing is, when teams balance these skills they really get stuff done! So, does anybody else share these concerns? Let’s hear your thoughts!

Yesterday was the first time I hosted something called “Apply Time” for product managers and it was an amazing experience. Instead of me giving out information, a group of product managers showed exactly what they were doing and I was able to see why people are getting fewer product manager interviews than they would like which is keeping them on the job hunter way longer. Everybody was doing the same thing applying on LinkedIn, employing the most red ocean strategies to generate interviews, and getting nowhere. Here are the following tips and starting from next week we are going create time blocks to ensure that we are going to get as many product manager jobs as possible before the 4th of July. Please DM me if you would like to join the challenge because this will take a group effort, and I need people ready to participate. If you are only applying to product manager roles on the LinkedIn Job Board, then you might as well just spend the day watching Netflix. Everybody is hitting up LinkedIn Easy Apply which is the most saturated market ever, what you want to do is hit up product manager roles posted on LinkedIn and promoted directly by the hiring managers themselves. LinkedIn MAKES MONEY off of job postings, so only the companies that can afford to post on LinkedIn do, and then everybody swarms over there. There is an easier way and that is searching for product manager jobs on “POSTS” instead of on jobs. I am going to create a very straightforward tutorial about this next week (DM me your email if you want to join the next apply time session). I am going to be sharing 4 other strategies to generate interviews and more importantly, setting up group time blocks to execute this information. Think cross fit but for job hunting for product manager roles. What I have learned is that all the information in the world means absolutely nothing if you are not taking action, and people are not taking action or enough action, because the process of job hunting is simply TOO LONELY. We got you. Join my FREE community here before I raise the rates to $1 month starting next Monday. https://bit.ly/4dTREEe See y’all at apply time. PS I am also going to implement a weekly 1 hour resume review time since I get SO MANY RESUME REVIEW REQUESTS. #ProductManagement #ProductManager #ApplyTimePM #ProductManagerJobHuntersUnited

How would you solve the puzzle below? The answer could mean the difference between being seen as a junior hire vs someone experienced in product. “Our active user numbers are down. Senior stakeholders are concerned. We want you, as the new PM, to fix this.” People on their way to transitioning into their first product role will make a simple mistake. 🥁🥁🥁 They provide an explanation of why the active user numbers may have fallen for the product according to their research on the business. ➡️ Why is that not the best approach? No matter how much you try, the answer is not going to be right. You are not working for the business yet, so you don’t know the details. This puzzle is too vague for a specific answer. Lastly, the purpose behind this type of question is not to measure the correct figure or number. ➡️ Why do new PMs fall into this trap? 1. They believe that if they can just guess the right answer, then they could be hired. 2. They believe that product people carry similar values to what their current line of business do. For example, the way marketing interviews are structured is very different. ➡️ What should they do instead? The purpose of this type of question is to understand how you would think as a product manager. If you were working for the company right now, you wouldn’t just spit out guesses. You would start by investigating, the what, the why, the when, the who and the how. ➡️ Your response could look like the following. “For me to tell you why the active user numbers fell, I’ll need to do some investigation. How do we currently define and measure active users? Do we know when and over what time frame the active user count dropped down? Is this a device-specific issue?” 🕵♀️ Product Managers are like detectives! When solving this type of puzzle during a technical interview, an experienced product manager will try to identify what they know and what they don't know, before drafting hypotheses to test. #NewProductManager #ProductInterviews #ProductManagement #CareerChange
