#RBAstats #EURO2024 Day 1 of Round of 16 has brought very interesting results. Despite both games ending in 2-0, the games themselves were quite different. #Switzerland has shown great organisation and grit. They rarely lost the ball in their own half and recovered it quickly whenever it was lost, including a lot in the opponent's half. Whilst they pressed less than their counterparts, whenever they did, they were more successful. #Italy, despite Federico Chiesa being on the pitch for the whole game, lacked intensity and following through on their ideas. Italy's performance throughout the group stage was varied and they could have shown better performance, but this time the Swiss were more deserving. #Germany vs #Denmark will probably be most remembered not due to the excitement of the game itself but due to a forced pause on account of a thunderstorm with hail. When the teams were on the pitch, Germany was seemingly dominating, but despite that the game could have easily gone the other way. The Danes had a few very good chances and a very unfortunate penalty right after their own goal was disallowed. Interestingly, the Germans used crosses much less than they usually do - 7 vs 15.7 on average during the group stage, not having changed their tactic even after Füllkrug appeared on the pitch.
