Abstract’s Post

I’ve made a bill tracker for California AI regulations! As far as I know, this is the only publicly available project following these bills. I’m still deciding on the appropriate cadence for sharing updates but I’ll be maintaining this until August 31st, the last day for each house to pass bills. Currently there are 28 live AI bills, many fewer now than before they crossed into the second house. But still a substantial number! This tracker is formatted as a list with the following categories: –Authenticity (4) –Democracy (3) –GenAI Crime (3) –Health (2) –Labor/Employment (3) –Private Sector (6) –Public Sector (7) This project involved lots of work to collect the relevant bills and their summaries, which are found in various legislative analyses. While this was a time consuming process, it was made 5x easier thanks to Abstract, who kindly provided access to their policy analysis platform. Now that I have the tracker set up I won't have to do anything to keep it updated, it runs automatically! The last thing to mention is that each bill name is hyperlinked to Abstract, where all the information one might need can be viewed, including bill text, history, and analyses.
