The VP of Transformation is a senior executive responsible for leading the organization’s digital transformation. This includes overseeing the corporate transformation program, enterprise projects and product portfolio, and business process engineering and change management functions. In this role, the Vice President is responsible for delivering innovation and change within the organization, ensuring that the company's systems and processes align with its strategic goals, and continuing its business agility journey. They work closely with other senior leaders to develop and implement strategies for improving efficiency, productivity, and profitability while fostering an agile culture that encourages continuous improvement and adaptation. The VP of Transformation must have a strategic perspective, strong leadership skills, excellent communication and collaboration abilities, financial acumen, a bias for action, and a deep understanding of the company's operations and industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a transformation roadmap that aligns with corporate strategy and long-term goals. This involves setting clear objectives, identifying key initiatives, and ensuring these align with business strategy. Collaborate with other senior leaders to align the company's systems and processes with its strategic goals.
  • Lead and direct staff, focusing on talent management and succession planning.
  • Advise on innovation advances that impact business operations and strategy; drive change and innovation within the organization to improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability; execute a multi-year innovation plan that ensures results from innovation activities.
  • Ensure that the portfolio of projects and programs aligns with the organization's strategic objectives and delivers maximum value. This includes overseeing investment decisions, resource allocation, and portfolio optimization.
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the success of transformation initiatives. Monitor and report on their progress, ensuring that they are driving the desired outcomes and making necessary adjustments to stay on track.
  • Oversee the Program Management team and ensure that programs and projects are delivered successfully, adding value to the organization. This involves prioritizing projects, allocating resources efficiently, and ensuring that projects meet their objectives and are delivered on time and within budget. Ensure defined project methodologies provide structure for predictable delivery standards, metrics, milestones, and outcomes.
  • Identify and implement process improvements across the organization to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. This involves analyzing current processes, identifying areas for improvement, and designing and implementing new processes that drive operational excellence.
  • Lead organizational change initiatives driven by transformation portfolio, ensuring that changes are smoothly and successfully implemented. This includes managing resistance to change, communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels, and ensuring the workforce is engaged and equipped to adapt to new working methods.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement within the organization. Encourage a mindset that embraces change and challenges the status quo in pursuit of organizational excellence.
  • Lead the adoption of agile strategies and foster an agile culture across the organization. Integrate agile methodologies into transformation initiatives to enhance flexibility, responsiveness, and innovation. Promote an agile mindset across the organization to foster a culture of continuous improvement, adaptability, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Communicate, collaborate, and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization and ensure buy-in for transformation initiatives. This involves clear and effective communication, addressing concerns, and ensuring that the voices of various stakeholders are considered in the transformation process.
  • Anticipate, identify, and mitigate risks associated with transformation initiatives, ensuring that potential obstacles are addressed proactively and do not derail the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Stay current with industry trends and developments to ensure the company remains competitive.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work-related experience.
  • 15 years of progressive leadership experience.
  • 7 years of experience leading transformative efforts.
  • 7 years of financial services/insurance industry experience preferred.
  • 10 years of project delivery experience, including agile and waterfall methodologies.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience developing and implementing digital products and services.
  • 5 years of experience or exposure to industry standard business process methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
  • Familiarity with design thinking or other innovation and experimentation processes is preferred.
  • Experience leading insurance core systems or ERP implementations.
  • Ability to lead and manage organizational change with the ability to predict, recognize, and manage cultural and technological changes within the organization and to promptly prescribe corresponding transitions.
  • Strong technology industry relationships with knowledge of the insurance industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical capability into a business opportunity.
  • Strong leadership capability with experience in building and leading highly successful teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including building relationships across all levels of the organization effectively.
  • Ability to think strategically with supporting analytical and problem-solving skills, including dealing with ambiguity.
  • Ability to lead discussions, make presentations, and deliver technical results to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks.
