Under the supervision of the School Administration, the Substitute Teacher instructs students during the absence of a regular teacher. Substitute Teachers are expected to maintain a professional attitude toward their work and support the mission and goals of the school system.
Substitute Teachers are assigned on an as needed basis and are temporary employees. Substitute Teachers receive no benefits and are assigned due to teacher absences or position vacancies. Payment for Substitute Teachers is based on a half day (3 hours and 59 minutes or less) or full day (4.0 hours or more) assignment and may be daily, or extended assignment.
Compensation
Daily Rate of Pay (Effective 7/1/2021)
Non-degreed (Minimum of 60 credits) $ 125.00 per day
Degreed (Bachelors or higher) $ 138.00 per day
Retired Teacher (Must provide verification) $ 157.00 per day
Teacher with a valid, current MSDE certificate/license from TEACH (verification required) - $157
Minimum Requirement
A minimum of an Associates Degree or successful completion of 60 credit hours is required.
