Product Developer
JOB OVERVIEW
As a Product Graphic Developer for the Camelbak Hardgood product line, you will lead color and graphic development across bottles, drinkware, and reservoirs. Your focus will be to develop quality, cost effective, on-time products that reflect Camelbak’s position as an industry leader.
Review graphic samples for color, quality, cost, and execution at all phases of the product creation process. Work closely with designers, merchandisers, and vendors to accurately reflect design intent in the final product. Maintain internal systems to reflect latest graphics information for quality control needs.
This position reports to the Lead Development Engineer and allows you the flexibility to work from a hybrid schedule from your home and out of our Irvine, CA office.
As the Product Graphic Developer, you will have an opportunity to:
- Manage color & graphics development across Camelbak’s entire bottle and drinkware line, from color and graphic ideation to production implementation.
- Partner with colorant suppliers and manufacturing teams on color chip and custom graphics initiation and execution, prototype cadence, project timeline deadlines, and development challenges.
- Utilize project management tools to accurately track color and graphic progress against product development timeline, participating in product core meetings to communicate and mitigate challenges and risks
- Prepare graphic samples and present project information to the Design and Merchandising teams for review and decision making ahead of milestone meetings.
- Enter costing information into PLM and maintain graphic costing updates.
- Ensure all production representative approval samples are stored and are readily available
- Collaborate with Engineering and QA teams to consult on durability and performance testing results for color and graphic applications, ensuring key standards are met
- Conduct research, exploration, and analysis to identify new and innovative CMF applications that enhance product aesthetic while maintaining functionality and durability.
- Visit vendor’s manufacturing facilities to sample and commercialize intended product design. Study vendor’s development techniques, production processes and technological capabilities to enhance professional knowledge, further vendor relationship and assist in the innovation of product design/development.
You have:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, industrial design, product development, engineering, or related field.
- 1-3 years of product development and color review experience. Open to experience in adjacent product categories outside of bottles and hardgoods.
- Open to product development responsibilities outside of color and graphics
- Knowledge of plastics, textiles, painting, colors, graphic process, and embellishment techniques
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Excel.
- Project management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing tasks, manage multiple projects, track details, and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to excellence and high-quality product build standards
- An enthusiastic and positive attitude with a passion towards action sports and product development. Must be very creative and forward thinking.
