Position Overview:
We are looking for a Remote Linux Administrator with a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or an equivalent technical field from an accredited college or university. The ideal candidate will have at least six years of hands-on experience in administering Linux operating systems, with a particular focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The successful candidate will also possess expertise in scripting languages such as BASH and Perl, and be well-versed in DHCP, DNS, and maintaining Department of Defense (DoD) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Linux System Administration:
Administer and maintain Linux servers, with a primary focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Install, configure, and optimize Linux systems for performance and reliability
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues promptly
Scripting:
Develop, write, and maintain BASH and Perl shell scripts to automate routine tasks and enhance system efficiency
Implement scripting solutions to streamline deployment processes and ensure system stability
Networking:
Configure and manage DHCP and DNS services on Linux servers
Troubleshoot network-related issues and collaborate with network administrators to optimize performance
DoD STIG Compliance:
Ensure that Linux systems adhere to Department of Defense Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) standards
Conduct regular security audits and implement necessary measures to address vulnerabilities
Collaboration and Documentation:
Work closely with cross-functional teams to support various IT projects and initiatives
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to system configurations, processes, and procedures
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
Minimum of six years of experience in Linux system administration
Strong proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Expertise in scripting languages, specifically BASH and Perl
Experience with DHCP and DNS configuration
Familiarity with DoD STIG Compliance requirements
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
