The Manager, People Business Partner is pivotal in leading and implementing advanced human resources initiatives that align with the organizational goals and operational needs. This role demands extensive strategic HR planning capabilities beyond transactional HR tasks and focuses on strategic leadership within the company's facilities in Connecticut and Massachusetts.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation of strategic human resources initiatives to support organizational goals, including workforce planning and alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Lead efforts to optimize organizational structures and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness, facilitating change management to align with organizational growth and adaptation.
  • Support talent management strategies that attract, retain, and develop top talent, including succession planning, leadership development, and performance management systems tailored to strategic business needs.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to analyze workforce trends and data, forecasting future hiring needs and skill requirements, and developing strategic plans to ensure the availability of right talent to meet future business objectives.
  • Manage complex labor relations within Connecticut's legal framework, ensuring compliance with labor peace agreements and facilitating union negotiations.
  • Provide expert advice to general managers on effective employee communication strategies to uphold licensing agreements and minimize arbitration risks.
  • Lead HR strategies and support the expansion of manufacturing and retail facilities.
  • Travel monthly to Massachusetts to oversee HR functions and provide support across multiple locations.
  • Manage and support an employee base across multiple sites, focusing on the unique needs of the manufacturing and retail sectors.
  • Partner effectively with Payroll, Learning & Organizational Development (L&OD), HR Technology (HRT), and other Centers of Excellence (COE) to achieve regional HR goals.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with labor and employment issues, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements to protect the organization from potential legal challenges.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Utilize HR data analytics to drive decisions and articulate strategic reasoning to stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, working closely with COEs and management to cultivate a culture that aligns with the company’s values and business goals.
  • Navigate industry changes with agile and responsive HR practices that support the dynamic business environment.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or relevant field required.
  • 5+ years of human resources experience, with significant strategic HR management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of HRIS and familiarity with labor law within the manufacturing sector.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field; master's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of strategic human resources experience, particularly in a unionized environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of EEO, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, OSHA, Workers Compensation, DOL, and other federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Experience with SAP and HIPAA.
  • HRCI and/or SHRM certification strongly preferred.
