Hino Motors Manufacturing is an OEM that assembles trucks in West Virginia, automotive components in Arkansas, and operates a parts distribution center in California.
We are currently seeking a full-time Operations Finance General Manager reporting directly to the Vice President of Accounting & Finance. This position will initially heavily focus on our Toyota business. The Operations Finance General Manager will function as a business partner to plant management in AR & WV to effectively manage and control the business through strong financial leadership.
Key Responsibilities
The Operations Finance General Manager is responsible to develop financial target metrics/KPIs and work as part of the plant leadership team to drive achievement of those objectives through strategic cost management activities, perform cost accounting and inventory management, and lead plant period-end financial close including profitability analysis.
Financial Strategic Planning and Cost Management
Develop financial target metrics/KPIs as part of plant leadership team
Prepare, analyze and report business plan / budget for all product lines
Implement cost management system for capital and operating expenses to ensure costs remain within budget constraints
Identify, analyze, and assist implementation of strategic opportunities to operate the business more cost effectively (e.g. in-source v. out-source, vendor selection. energy tax incentives, etc.)
Lead cost reduction initiatives based on data analysis with functional department owners
Cost Accounting and Inventory Management
Maintain accurate bill of materials content and pricing in ERP
Maintain perpetual inventory subsidiary ledger reconciled to general ledger
Lead physical inventory count with plant production control
Identify and report potential excess and obsolete inventory risks
Drive collaborative efforts between production, production control, and accounting
Financial Reporting and Profitability Analysis
Complete accurate monthly financial close within three business days
Prepare and report monthly PL analysis including variance analysis with actionable profit improvement recommendations
Prepare and report monthly financial KPI reporting including material costs, labor costs, and overhead costs
Internal Controls / SOX Compliance and General Accounting Operations
Maintain and reconcile general ledger and sub-ledger accounts in accordance with US GAAP
Ensure timely and accurate payments to raw material and non-raw material vendors
Monitor and implement plant SOX internal controls including segregation of duties (in conjunction with corporate policies) to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks
Prepare and file Arkansas state sales and use tax and property tax returns
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
CPA or CMA strongly preferred
15 years of accounting experience with at least 5 in a supervisory role; manufacturing experience required (automotive preferred)
Skills Required
Knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management and US GAAP
Ability to effectively respond to questions from management and staff
Develop effective cross-functional working relationships
Strong organizational and data management
Knowledge of accounting software packages
Intermediate Excel skills required
Strong written and verbal skills
High level of attention to detail
Ability to work independently under tight deadlines
Travel Requirements: Up to 25%
