Our client, a global retail organization, is looking for a Senior HR Manager to support their Retail stores.


Travel: 20-20%

Hybrid: 3 days onsite in NYC


*Prior experience working in Retail required


The Role

The Senior Human Resources Manager partners with Store Management to coordinate and implement policies and best practices across retail stores. This role involves recommending, developing, and executing operational programs, building talent development opportunities, and managing policies, procedures, and events that foster a positive employee culture.

Responsibilities

Talent Management

  • Develop, implement, and manage recruitment strategies to ensure a diverse talent pool for store leadership positions, aligning with the organization’s commitment to inclusivity.
  • Support the full recruitment cycle, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, recommending candidates for hire, conducting reference checks, and facilitating employment offers.
  • Lead the performance management process within the store organization, including annual reviews, mid-year check-ins, and talent assessments; partner with store leadership to create additional tools for continuous feedback.
  • Coach and support the development of the Retail Management team.
  • Create, facilitate, and/or implement training programs for Retail, such as Performance Management, Leadership Development, Coaching and Feedback, Communication, and Interviewing Skills.
  • Ensure the execution and timely completion of team development plans, including training, documentation, resolution, and performance counseling.

Employee Relations

  • Act as an internal consultant for all Associate Relations issues, including formal corrective actions, terminations, harassment/discrimination investigations, and other policy-related matters.
  • Coach and advise field management on performance management conversations and documentation.
  • Investigate complaints in collaboration with legal counsel when necessary.

Customers & Relationships

  • Lead initiatives to promote a positive, diverse, and inclusive workplace culture within the store organization.
  • Ensure clear and consistent communication from corporate offices to the field organization.
  • Act as a strong business partner to support the field organization in meeting and exceeding business objectives.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of HR experience in retail.
  • 4+ years of leadership and management experience.
  • Strong understanding of retail operations and HR practices in a best-in-class environment.
  • Broad knowledge of HR practices, including employee relations, performance management, compensation, and learning & development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HR generalist responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% within assigned areas.


Salary Range: $115,000 - $145,000
