Director Training & Talent Development

The primary purpose of this position is to assist First Commerce in fulfilling our Vision Empowering Generations, Transforming Communities. This is achieved through delivering Remarkable Member Service as defined by our Service Standards as well as building and maintaining strong member relationships through identification of member's financial needs and effectively recommending appropriate products and services to meet those needs.

The Director Training & Talent Development is responsible for conception, planning, organizing, directing, developing, and implementing the credit union's training and talent development strategy. Utilizes experience based on knowledge and formal experience in training and talent development to drive a performance culture. Oversees and develop training and talent development approaches and programs to impact outcomes of the business and performance. Creates and implements techniques and align training and talent programs to strategic goals and develops programs that are impactful and consistent with driving organizational and individual performance. Supervises the Training and Talent team and actively develops team members. Develops department budgets, policies, and procedures. Oversees and serves as primary liaison with outside consultants and vendors. As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), serves as a catalyst for organizational communication, fostering robust relationships that elevate team member engagement and productivity resulting in performance excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Training & Talent Development Leadership


  • Leads, develops, manages projects, and implements talent development initiatives and strategies to grow current and future team member capabilities and succession depth emphasizing behavioral competencies, individual performance improvement tools that result in building a performance culture grounded in FCCU business priorities.
  • Employs foundational and leading-edge learning and leadership development technical expertise to inform, improve, and build current and future professional development, leadership, and management development offerings.
  • Oversees training and learning program design, development and implementation supporting financial center operation as well as corporate office learning to drive greater proficiency and skill development.
  • Develops talent development and organizational learning goals, objectives, and systems to ensure team performance.
  • Identifies and monitors key talent development metrics and assist in developing timely reports on results and trends.
  • Identifies and/or coordinates initiatives in conjunction with the Chief People Officer to continually position First Commerce as an employer of choice.
  • Ensures focus on FCCU strategic objectives and aligning learning, talent, and cultural programs to drive outcomes.
  • Leverages workforce analytics to identify talent development strategies and evaluate their impact on business performance.


Talent Development & Organizational Development


  • Oversees the planning and implementation of talent needs assessments utilizing innovative and collaborative methods to obtain a deeper understanding of FCCU's workforce to evolve existing and future workforce development offerings in a strategic and integrated way.
  • Leads talent acquisition and recruiting of all FCCU team members by establishing and leading recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire an exceptional workforce.
  • Oversees the administration of performance management system to drive engagement, structured communication and feedback, goal development and effective performance reviews.
  • Champions and oversees the onboarding process and orientation program by ensuring that it's high-quality and up to date and provide clarity and connection for employees so their roles serve the overall credit union vision.
  • Oversees FCCU employee surveys including onboarding, stay, engagement and offboarding. Ensures surveys capture comprehensive feedback and regularly disseminates results.
  • Provides facilitation for various professional development, leadership and management development programs and activities, and developing other professional development and leadership courses.
  • Trains and coaches' managers, employees and others involved in team member development and performance efforts.
  • Provides guidance and support on leadership/behavioral assessment tools, such as 360-degree feedback, Harrison, StrengthsFinder, and other tools.


Training & Learning Development


  • Manages and improves learning development and management tools to increase training effectiveness, quality, and consistency.
  • Designs, develops, and implements comprehensive innovative and engaging training programs (leadership, retail operations, systems, and organization wide) employing technology and blended learning methodology increasing quality and proficiency while being recognized as a leader in learning innovation.
  • Conducts engaging and interactive training sessions using a variety of instructional techniques, including presentations, workshops, case studies, simulations, role-plays, and e-learning modules. Adapt training delivery methods to accommodate different learning styles and preferences. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Assesses credit union-wide developmental needs collaborating with senior leaders and others to drive learning and development initiatives, develop content, identify innovative and effective solutions to deliver targeted team member training programs.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of training programs through evaluations, feedback, and post-training assessments. Continuously improve training materials and delivery based on feedback received from participants and stakeholders.
  • Oversees training administration that manage the training logistics, including scheduling, room bookings, equipment setup, and participant registration. Maintain accurate records of training activities, attendance, and feedback.
  • Oversees the development and maintain organizational communications such as SharePoint, LMS and Knowledge Center to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources.


Leadership Duties:


  • Performance management of training and talent development team, including recruitment, day to day management, coaching and mentoring and recognition.
  • Oversees the quality and speed of department team(s). Offers and manages clear expectations of service levels.
  • Manages and support consultants and vendors working on relevant learning and talent development tasks, including quality performance, proposals, invoicing, and effectiveness.
  • Works within an approved budget; Develops and monitors activity SOW, budgets, and learning consultant assignments.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, development, coaching, counseling, evaluating and overall leadership management of staff.
  • Leads and continuously develops a team that is positioned as credible, proactive, and trusted thought partners through building relationships, delivering results, and competently delivering core services.
  • Sets and achieves challenging goals; Demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles; Measures self against standard of excellence; Takes calculated risks to accomplish goals.


Other Responsibilities:


  • Performs job duties in accordance with policies established by the Board of Directors under the rules and regulations set by the National Credit Union Administration, the State of Florida and any applicable State laws for financial centers located in other States.
  • Complies with Reg E, BSA, OFAC and CIP requirements such as reporting suspicious or unusual activity to manager.
  • Fully supports in actions and words First Commerce's Vision, Mission, Core Values and Service Standards.
  • Attends meetings timely and as required; reports to work as scheduled and adheres to First Commerce's dress code.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:


  • Knowledge of all products and services offered by the credit union and those of the credit union's competitors.
  • A high level of organization and problem-solving skills to coordinate the marketing functions and to analyze and respond to changes in the competitive and regulatory market.
  • Superior understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Proven leadership ability.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, organizational development, talent management or business administration or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Ten to twelve (10-12) plus years of progressive training, learning and/or talent development experience; preferably working in financial services, banking, or credit union industry.
  • Seven (7) years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with organizational development theories and practice improving capabilities including talent management, leadership, performance management, employee engagement, and culture.
  • Experience with talent development strategies-career paths, competencies, professional development, and implementing programmatic learning agendas.
  • Experience with learning and development - instructional design and training development with a variety of methodologies (learning technologies, systems, and performance support)
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and training methodologies.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire participants.
  • Strong business acumen that demonstrates an understanding of organizational development issues and linking solutions to learning and talent development strategies.
  • Strong communication and partnering skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and Performance Management systems
  • Microsoft Office Suite, Articulate Storyline 360/Adobe Captivate, Adobe Photoshop/Premiere Pro, SharePoint, Zoom/Teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across organization and apply complex knowledge efficiently.
  • Ability to work effectively (adaptable and flexible) in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication/presentation skills with a strong emphasis on delivering quality/timely learning and professional development resources.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and organizational skills.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
  • Adept with a variety of systems including performance management, recognition, learning design programs and instructional technology training platforms and methods.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to work independently and effectively lead multiple initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, communication, partnering, relationship building and strategic thinking skills.
  • Experience leading training and talent development initiatives.
  • Ability to travel.
