Overview

The Compliance Director supervises all compliance affairs for an organization, handling internal compliance matters for its role as a Partner in various ownership setups. This encompasses numerous bond-financed and government-supported multifamily housing projects nationwide. The Compliance Director guarantees that the organization surpasses compliance benchmarks and industry norms, requiring proven expertise in asset management, multifamily affordable housing, and portfolio oversight. This position directly reports to the CEO.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business development, operations, and resident services to achieve goals.
  • Establish and oversee the maintenance of reporting procedures, databases, and other informational systems to collect data, track projects, and enhance communication.
  • Oversee the management of portfolio-related templates, data, and documents.
  • Oversee the management of SREOs and Form 1116s.
  • Oversee subsidiary formation and tracking, and annual FTB group exemption filings.
  • Review reports, forms, memos, and other written documentation related to portfolio management for accuracy.
  • Oversee and review portfolio data and documents related to welfare exemption/tax abatement for accuracy.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for property management partners and government entities to establish and ensure ongoing compliance.


Additional Functions

  • Represent the organization to all stakeholders—partners, lenders, property managers, vendors, residents, and community members with an above-average level of understanding of our mission and core values.
  • Ensure the team achieves the compliance and portfolio goals set out by the organization overall.
  • Train, direct, and manage the team in the performance of their responsibilities, including coaching, development, and performance review.
  • Establish and maintain effective business relationships with financial partners and developers.
  • Lead the department in planning and implementing department goals.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed calendars, records, and notes.
  • Attend and participate in corporate meetings.
