Director of Broadcast Engineering

On Cue Hire's client, a leading Broadcast News and Media company, is seeking a dynamic and innovative Director of Broadcast Engineering to join their team on a full-time basis! This exciting role sits onsite, in office, in sunny Boca Raton, FL.

What You'll Do

• Create, Manage, and Implement Broadcast Engineering Projects: Lead exciting projects at our Florida facility, with potential support for our NY and DC locations.
• Coordinate Software Updates: Plan and execute software updates on essential equipment.
• Regular Maintenance: Ensure all equipment is in top shape with scheduled maintenance.
• Liaison Role: Act as the bridge between the FL facility and the VP of Broadcast Engineering.
• Design and Integration: Propose, design, test, and integrate new equipment into our systems.
• Policy and Documentation: Establish and maintain comprehensive policies and documentation.
• Project Coordination: Collaborate with Operations and Production to assess and improve projects.
• Advise Management: Recommend new policies and procedures to senior management.
• SOP Implementation: Implement and enforce standard operating procedures for technical staff.
• Resource Optimization: Ensure cost-effective solutions by optimizing resource allocation.
• Network and IT Coordination: Work closely with Networking and IT on service requests.
• Facility Monitoring: Keep an eye on HVAC, power, and overall facility health, coordinating with vendors as needed.
• Scheduling Coordination: Ensure engineering scheduling aligns with operational needs.
• Trouble Reporting: Create and maintain efficient trouble reporting and documentation procedures.
• Compliance: Maintain facility compliance with standard broadcasting practices and standards.
  
  

What We're Looking For

• Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
• Experience: Eight (8) or more years in broadcasting within a live news operation or similar event-driven environment.
• Leadership: Strong leadership qualities are a must!
• Organization: Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Broadcasting Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of broadcasting audio and video standards.
• Technical Expertise: Proven skills in A/V and networking signal flow, networking, and IT as it pertains to broadcasting.
• Streaming Proficiency: Expertise in streaming content and related protocols/formats, such as: TCP, UDP, MPEG-TS, SRT, Zixi, IGMP/PIM, Layer 2/3, Subnetting, VLANs, OTT, cloud-based Master Control.
• Equipment Experience: Familiarity with Dante, SDI, NDI, Networking, ENPS, and OnCue Prompters.
• Storage Knowledge: Familiarity with NAS/SAN architecture is a plus.
• Intercom Systems: Knowledge of digital intercom systems from RTS/Clearcom is beneficial.
• Multimedia Savvy: Understanding of multimedia file formats and CODECs.
• Composure: Ability to stay calm and collected during high-stress situations.
  
  

This role sits onsite in Boca Raton, FL and local candidates or relocating to the Boca Raton area will be considered. Please note there is no relocation package offered for this position.
