Job Position: Compliance and Privacy Manager

The Compliance and Privacy Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Rendr’s compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare compliance and privacy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead and train staff on compliance issues.

Essential Functions

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure the organization adheres to all relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, HITECH, and other federal, state, and local laws.
    • Monitor regulatory changes and update policies and procedures accordingly.
    • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify compliance risks and implement corrective actions.
  • Privacy Management:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain privacy policies and procedures to protect patient information.
    • Oversee the rendr’s privacy program, including the management of patient data breaches and responses.
    • Conduct privacy impact assessments and ensure data handling practices comply with privacy laws.
  • Training and Education:
    • Develop and deliver training programs for staff on compliance and privacy policies and procedures.
    • Provide ongoing education to ensure staff are aware of their responsibilities regarding compliance and privacy.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify and assess compliance and privacy risks within the organization.
    • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and corrective action plans.
    • Conduct investigations into compliance and privacy incidents and report findings to senior management, as directed by the chief compliance, ethics and privacy officer.
  • Policy Development:
    • Create and update compliance and privacy policies and procedures.
    • Ensure policies are effectively communicated and accessible to all staff members.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of compliance and privacy activities.
    • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies and senior management, as directed by the Chief Compliance, Ethics and Privacy Officer.
    • Document and track incidents and corrective actions taken.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with various departments, including IT, Legal, HR, and Clinical Operations, to ensure integrated compliance efforts.
    • Serve as a point of contact for compliance and privacy matters within rendr.
Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Legal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or JD preferred.
  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), or similar certification is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare compliance and privacy management.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA, HITECH, and other relevant standards.
  • Being able to travel to various sites as needed.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and train staff effectively.
  • Proficient in the use of compliance software and other relevant technologies.
