Position Overview
As a Commercial Property Lines Underwriter, you will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing commercial insurance submissions, applications, and renewal business in accordance with established underwriting guidelines. You'll use your advanced knowledge and decision-making skills to recommend pricing and risk exceptions, ensuring the profitability and growth of our business.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and underwrite new, renewal, and endorsement applications to maintain a profitable book of business.
Build and maintain strong relationships with agents, understanding their needs and providing exceptional service.
Ensure timely processing of applications and data integrity for discounts and exposure bases.
Collaborate with internal and external partners, including marketing, product, risk management, and agents.
Assist in training agents on systems, processes, rules, and products.
Contribute to business requirements, user acceptance testing, and special projects.
Stay informed about industry trends, emerging market needs, and competition.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university.
5+ years of experience in commercial property lines underwriting; BOP underwriting experience is a plus.
Professional designation (CPCU, AU, ARM) or progress towards one is preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
High level of motivation and ability to handle complex underwriting assignments.
Physical Requirements
Light physical demands: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Regularly required to sit, use hands, and communicate effectively.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
Ability to handle stressful deadlines.
Sufficient vision to navigate required computer programs.
Moderate noise level in the work environment.
