Job Summary

The Architectural and Engineering Associate must be a self-starter, and understand basic technical details of compiling architectural and construction documents together. Must have general knowledge of site development and the development of construction documents, including drawings and specifications for technical projects. The candidate needs to be independent, and professional and needs to take minimal instruction to go forward with projects or project components. Shall have the desire and ability to understand the full project scope from design through construction. 3/2 hybrid schedule (Tuesday - Thursday in the office, Monday and Friday WFH) with minimal weekday travel.

Job Description

  • Manage several projects at a time.
  • Able to support multiple drafting resources and personnel.
  • Support project scheduling, quality, and budgets.
  • Assist in leading multiple members of a team.
  • Responsible for support of developing detailed design and production of construction documents.
  • Proficient in learning specifications and performing material, product selection, and research.
  • Basic understanding of producing tenant development work, space planning, and code analysis.
  • Assist with conceptual input on assigned projects.
  • Support efforts for monitoring of scope, schedule, and budget on architectural aspects of projects.
  • Support efforts for developing architectural work plans and tasking, supervision, and mentoring of assigned project personnel.
  • Support for construction phase shop drawing review and assembly of requests for proposals, change orders, and closeout documentation.
  • Ability to learn future use of CADD, REVIT, and/or other programs.
  • Support the firm’s QA/QC program by serving as an architectural discipline checker for assigned projects.
  • Provide assigned collateral duties relative to the operation of the team.
  • Support the development of production standards.
  • Possibility of support for site visits and project measuring as required.
  • Perform other related work as apparent or assigned

Requirements

  • Engineering and Technology – Minimum of 1-2 years experience with Civil or electrical engineering design and development projects, with knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Excellent Communication Skills – Able to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times as well as conveying information effectively.
  • Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Coordination - Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.
  • A professional degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Design and a minimum of 1-2 years of experience is preferred. Professional registration as an Engineer or architect is not necessary.
