Some of the best threads in the Healthy Competition community... aren't even about competitive intel or product marketing. They're usually found in the "careers" channel. Some of the most recent topics have been around: - how to navigate layoffs - creating "win docs" to use when asking for raises - fractional work - job interview tips - growing beyond director-level titles - what to do when you're juggling too many requests I don't think this element in a community is talked about enough. Usually, they're marketed as a place to get the TACTICS, TEMPLATES, FRAMEWORKS, etc. for a certain role. And yeah, we certainly share those things in the Healthy Competition community for competitive intel and product marketing. But what's equally as important, IMO, is just seeing how other folks in your role are navigating their work life. There are some nuances with the CI and PMM roles that make it more relatable and resonant when you hear it from people in those roles vs. general marketers, sellers, product managers, etc. That's where I see the majority of people connecting with one another and experiencing the real value of community.

A lot of people talk about how conversational search and genAI will help out consumers. But one of the things I’m most excited about is how it’s going to make merchandisers’ lives better. One of the hardest things about the job today is trying to figure out what a shopper wanted when they landed on your site, and how hard they had to work to find it. With traditional search, you might only get a few words or a short phrase to figure it out, which isn’t much context. The beauty of conversational search is suddenly the merchant will have so much more information - instead of a couple words, they might have paragraphs or even full conversation transcripts they can reference — much deeper insight into what was going through the customer’s mind while they were shopping. Brendan Witcher goes on to explain how that information can then be used to produce more useful product copy and other CX enhancements. It’s one of my favorite parts of our webinar last week. As a keen influencer marketing professional, I've been closely following the rapid rise of Gen Alpha influencers, and let me tell you – this generation is going to take the industry by storm. The data speaks for itself. Just look at the Garza Twins – two 7-year-olds with an impressive 4.8 million followers on TikTok! That's more than some of the biggest names in the game. What's their secret? These kids have a natural understanding of the digital landscape that even their Gen Z predecessors struggled to master (https://casthr.co/l/6k ). And the Garza Twins are just the tip of the iceberg. North West, the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, has also succeeded in the influencer world, with a TikTok account and a growing fanbase. These young stars aren't just following trends — they're shaping them, captivating audiences with their authenticity and creativity. This piece (https://casthr.co/l/6l ) by the Daily Mail is spot on. In fact, using our very own HypeAuditor money calculator, they’ve estimated North and Kim’s joint TikTok account to be able to set a price of $16,000 to $25,000 per post — a crazy figure for an account with a 10-year-old at the forefront. As someone who's been in the industry for a while, I can tell you that Gen Alpha is something to watch. Their natural affinity for social media, coupled with their genuine connection with their audience, makes them a force to be taken into account. Hot Take: If you sell a hardlines product and do not invest in branding. You are leaving yourself open to knock offs from the same factories that produce said products. It is imperative to create community around your brand (along with quality standards) or customers will just look for the cheapest alternative. The easiest way to do this is via creative and product imagery. Taking a little initiative and not just going with stock imagery provided by manufacturers goes further than you think.

Today Sprout Social, Inc. did a triple whammy (and not the good kind) - they reported a slight miss on revenue and adjusted guidance, announced a new CEO, AND changed up how they're going to report on the business moving forward.. And the market punished them for it - it's down a whopping 36% today 🚨 But I think investors are missing the forest for trees Sprout is a fast-growing company that is in the middle of a transition from a startup that happened to get big and go public to a mature, enterprise software company. And to do that, they had to take some hard-to-swallow medicine, but ultimately I think it's for the better. The Miss Revenue came in a little short of expectations at $96.8M for Q1, up 29% YoY which is slightly down from the expected 31% but still solid Where they really get dinged is in the decreased full-year guidance on revenue, but I think that is explained away with the move toward the enterprise. Enterprise deals close in Q3 and Q4 so it makes sense that they'll have less of the year to generate revenue off the big deals that are becoming an increasingly large part of their business. $50k+ ACV accounts still grew a whopping 44% YoY so that move is real, not just earnings call speak Remaining Performance Obligations (a metric enterprise SaaS companies use to talk about revenue they haven't yet delivered on) also grew 48% YoY. These are great metrics and tell a different story than the headlines. The CEO Change Markets usually hate to see this, but this is easy to explain away, and it makes sense. The current President, Ryan Barretto is stepping into the role as founder Justyn Howard moves into an executive chair role. Once again, same story as above. Ryan spent 10+ years at Salesforce prior to taking Sprout from $30m in ARR to almost $400m, and truly understands the enterprise - exactly what the company needs right now. Changed Reporting Moving forward, they will no longer be reporting on metrics including ARR, Customer Count, and Partner Revenue. Instead, they'll be reporting metrics more familiar to enterprise investors and aligned with their peers and competition like revenue, RPO, and NRR. While it's never easy to watch a stock get knocked like this, I think the company did the right thing piling all of these things together and getting the pain behind them. Now they can get back to work on their path to $1B in revenue by 2030, and if they perform, the market will reward them. The stock is currently trading at a paltry 4x annual revenue, which is way below average for the overall SaaS market and even lower for companies with a high 20s growth rate. Assuming they can deliver on this transition, there is certainly upside in this business! #spt

🚨🚨IT’S ABOUT TIME 🚨🚨 It is frustrating how slowly (most) brands and (almost all) agencies make moves in media. - It’s been crystal clear for a decade that this was the trajectory and low-and-behold, brands are (finally) adjusting spend despite agencies urging them to waste ever more billions on the geriatric TV audience; - What’s also clear… interruptive spot advertising is a TV thing and doesn’t port well to digital native. We are all thankful to the inventor of the SkipAd button. For brand marketers: when the ad isn’t skipped, it’s not that they’re into your product… they’re probably on a second screen or got distracted; - What’s painfully clear is authentic connection between creator and brand can drive so much value. I recently worked with a creator who loves a popular kids breakfast product. This creator has over 10M followers…in the kids space! No brainer? NOPE! It was impossible to get the brand’s ad agency to see what the genuine love this creator had for the brand could do to sales (they even told me once “I’d talk about _____ for free, I love it so much!!”). - Instead brands source creators like they were products on a grocery shelf, selecting them for various reasons but never asking themselves or the creator about the emotional connections between creator<>brand<>audience. Instead, they give these creators an overworked brief and tons and tons of notes along the way. We have a LONG way to go… - Brands need to evolve their thinking; - To do this they need to ask critical questions of their agencies; -Agency incentives need to fundamentally change from simply putting dollars to work (on which they scrape a %). They need drive actual relevance in a changed (and changing) media landscape.

Zappi is in the Financial Times! It's so exciting to see how our platform helps brands understand the effectiveness of their ads, but also, the nuance behind it. Our ad testing platform clearly showed that the ad was going to be divisive, but there are subtle differences between how younger and older generations perceived the ad. That information was knowable well *before* the ad was launched. So what do you think... did Apple go for the shock value? Or did the response shock Apple instead? (Link to article in first comment)

Casey Winters sharing how he helped Pinterest and Grubhub increase retention and revenue by optimizing their onboarding experience: Contrary to popular belief, onboarding isn’t a marketing or sales problem. “So who should work on this problem? What does an onboarding team look like? This is a CROSS-FUNCTIONAL team: Product designers… Engineers… Product managers… In B2B a lot of times sales will be involved… Sometimes marketing… User research… All of these people have to be working together to figure out how to build the right experience so that people are going to get the value of your product and keep using it.” This begs the next question: "Where does onboarding end and the core product begin? Your onboarding team should be in charge of the entire product experience until people reach the habit moment” Onboarding might just be the most underrated drivers of growth.
