DocRes: A Generalist Model Toward Unifying Document Image Restoration Tasks 📠 📠 📠 Document image restoration is vital for Document AI systems, as image quality greatly impacts overall performance. Existing methods handle restoration tasks separately, leading to complex systems and missed opportunities for multi-task learning synergies. To address this, they propose DocRes, a unified model for five restoration tasks (dewarping, deshadowing, appearance enhancement, deblurring, and binarization), using a novel visual prompt approach called Dynamic Task-Specific Prompt (DTSPrompt) that enhances performance and flexibility. In my quest to create realistic broken glass using SideFX Software Houdini, I've been experimenting with techniques to achieve those intricate broken edges effortlessly. Chain up! 🌊⛓🎈 No #keyframes, no #tyflow, just #phoenixfd active bodies! I'd like to start the week with a new Chaos PhoenixFD #RnD scene. It really takes me into uncharted territory, i never thought Phoenix Active Bodies are capable of this. After i discovered the concave collision feature, it was obvious to try it with a whole chain, to see how far i can go with the collision system. With a bit of fiddling and understanding of the individual parameters, et voilà! It's working! The #buoy is correctly constrained to the concrete block via the chain, while at the same time is interacting with the fluid. #Buoyancy force is pushing it up and makes it floating correctly on the surface. Pretty cool i think! 🤗 I'm planning to create a few more of these RnD scenes, it's fun! Would you like me to share the 3d scenes in the future? It’s important to match rigging chain to hooks of the proper size. If you need to figure out what size hook you have, it will almost always be imprinted on the hook somewhere. But, if you're looking for the label in imperial notation (such as "1/2 inch") you might be out of luck — many manufacturers print the metric equivalent (such as "13mm") for size. The location and formatting of the size marking is different depending on the manufacturer. On this Crosby Shur-Loc hook, both metric and imperial are provided for convenience. However the hook is marked, make sure you index that information and match the hook size to your chain size. AND, the hook grade to your grade of chain (for example, a Grade 100 hook for Grade 100 chain). 🔊 One for the Breaking Bad fans! Today’s sound design is of “The Last Batch”, a concept Breaking Bad game by Piotr Tatar. There are a lot of layers going on here. The V8 was recreated using Leon Beilmann’s techniques in Kilohearts Phase Plant. I'm not 100% happy with it, but this week I decided to just share things as I make them. It's been quite refreshing to "expose" things that have only been worked on for a few hours without iteration. I think sometimes as artists we are scared to share things unless they are perfect. Audio, just like visual art, should be seen as a multi-stage process. By working with assets at the concept stages, you can receive constructive feedback from your team (and sometimes interesting new angles from other departments) that will help you push your design to the next level. Far too often audio is seen as an after-thought to slap on a project at the end. This leaves no space for the creative process. Collaborative iteration, that's what it's all about! KMFX-Scripts for Silhouette have been streamlined and updated. Thank you Magno Borgo for being the genius you are. 🤓 The update is for v2022.5+ and also new is Megascript. Download the scripts from GitHub, enable external scripts in the Silhouette Scripting Preferences and add the path to the external scripts on your machine. For Megascript - this script can be copy/pasted into a Silhouette Script Editor window, executed and run just for that session. No need for an external user_keybinds.py file. Hotkeys can be changed in this script and unwanted scripts can be commented out, reshape override is not yet possible with Mega.
