We are delighted to announce the installation of five new bike racks at the Cranston YMCA, a collaborative effort with the OneCranston Health Equity Zone (OCHEZ) and The Steel Yard (Woonasquatucket Valley Community Build Inc.). This initiative supports our goal of promoting healthier lifestyles and sustainable transportation options in our community. Special thanks to the Cranston Police Department for their generous donation of 30 bike helmets for our Race4Chase youth triathlon program participants. Supported by the CMAK Foundation, Race4Chase provides kids aged 6 to 12 with a safe, healthy, non-competitive environment to discover the sport of triathlon and aim high in both sports and life. Our participants are excitedly preparing for their program finale triathlon on August 11th at Fort Adams in Newport, joining youth from seven other program sites across the state. We are proud to be part of such a supportive community and look forward to continuing our work together to promote health and wellness for all.

It was such an honor to meet Mr. Stephen Palmer, a long time Y supporter, former YMCA of Greater Providence Board Chair, The Y (YMCA) Board Chair, an international ambassador for the Y and so much more! I loved hearing the stories of the Y from years past and the work he’s done to advance peace, inclusion and community for all.

Keeping kids safe and cool during these hot days ♨️ at summer camp is a top priority for our team here at The Y. All of our staff go through 20+ hours of training so they can keep kids safe, and that includes learning how to keep them cool when the weather is really hot. We prioritize lots of breaks in the shade, water-based activities, and frequent hydration. This is in addition to all camp staff being CPR and First Aid certified and having all lifeguards certified by Rhode Island DEM. When sending your kids to camp this summer, be sure they bring water bottles, a swimsuit and towel, sunscreen, and plenty of snacks for the day. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eH_NCg2J

Last night we closed out our member and staff town hall series with the CEO at our Cranston YMCA. We appreciate all the feedback and lively conversation we had the opportunity to engage in with this passionate group. Thank you to all who found time to join us and share ideas, comments, thoughts, and concerns about their Y. We're already hard at work following up on your valuable contributions at each branch!
