The Bloc cultivates the love of boxing to share transformative resources and opportunities with West Side youth.

About us

Some of Chicago's most promising youth are falling into hopelessness. Teens disheartened by generational poverty, academic neglect, and the trauma of community violence are turning to the streets. The Bloc fights back. We contribute to the momentum improving Chicago's future by attracting youth least likely to join mentoring and tutoring programs-- the kids who like to fight. We offer an enriching opportunity for no cost to the youth or their families. Once enrolled, we connect them to mentors, engage them in academic services, and expand their horizons with college trips and explorational learning. Since 2016, we have maintained 100% high school graduation and college acceptance rates. Organization-wide, our fighters' average GPAs have been over 3.2 every year. Youth who come to The Bloc to learn to fight ultimately learn how to fight for their success.

In a neighborhood where exercise can mitigate the top causes of death, there's a fitness desert. You can help us change that. The City of Chicago has granted The Bloc $187,000 to complete a $250,000 construction project. You can help us raise the remaining $63,000. When we finish, we will open our facility for paid adult boxing training staffed by our fighters. With one donation, you will create youth jobs, increase health equity, and improve our sustainability. Please go to theblocchicago.org/build so we can turn that 0 into a 1.
