Good Catch Award | Congratulations to Tracy Bell, RN in the Ambulatory Care Center! The Good Catch Award is awarded to teammates to recognize their efforts promoting quality and patient safety. While caring for a post-endoscopy patient, Tracy placed them on normal monitoring equipment and shortly afterwards noticed changes in the patient’s heart rhythm. She became concerned that the patient was in A-fib with RVR. Tracy performed an EKG on the patient and identified that the patient was indeed in A-fib with RVR. The patient was immediately transferred to the Emergency Department for further testing and treatment. Tracy’s attention to detail and commitment to patient safety identified an immediate health issue and helped to ensure that patient received timely medical care. Thank you, Tracy!

Welcome to the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Dorchester 2024 class! Comprised of leaders from businesses around Summerville and greater Dorchester County, we were thrilled to welcome them to the hospital for conversations on how we can continue growing our services to meet the needs of our community. They also had the opportunity to play simulations on the latest advanced technology for minimally invasive robot surgery and meet some of our robotically trained surgeons.

BEE Award for Excellence | Congratulations to Kaylen Hanson, PCT on our 3rd floor medical/surgical unit, for receiving the BEE Award for Excellence. Just as the DAISY cannot survive without the BEE, nurses cannot survive without the outstanding teamwork provided by other healthcare professionals. She was nominated by a patient for her outstanding commitment to her work: "Kaylen shows people a true love for what she does. She kept me so clean and feeling informed. What a lovely personality and commitment to her patients!” Thank you, Kaylen, for everything you do each day to support our staff and community!

Robert’s love of motorcycles led to an accident that fractured vertebra and caused spinal stenosis. After meeting spine surgeon Dr. Sabino D’Agostino, Robert had three spine surgeries to fix his complex case. The results were almost immediate. Now, Robert is back to working out 6 days a week, riding motorcycles and living an active life. In his words, “I don’t know how to describe Dr. D’Agostino… He’s the man! Please join us in congratulating Sarah Watford, RN in our Emergency Department for receiving the DAISY Award! Sarah was nominated by both a teammate and a patient for her outstanding care and compassion: “While helping another nurse, Sarah was able to look at the patient’s labs and realized that the labs looked incorrect. She spoke with the patient and decided to redraw the labs. The second set of labs returned back normal and the patient was able to be discharged without any additional care needed.” – Colleague nomination “Sarah is an asset to the HCA Healthcare network! He helped get my 2 MRIs done the same day. I tried to get this accomplished over the phone earlier, but was told it wasn't possible on the current schedule.
