"Wait! How come only 1% of clicks on Google Search go to paid ads?!" That's a frequently asked question we're getting about our recent Zero-Click Search report. Here's the answer: Google said in 2023 that less than 20% of all search results contain even 1 paid ad. So if an ad shows in a search result, the click-through percentage is at least 5%. In our report, we have the 1% number shown because it's indicative of all search results, not just results where a paid ad shows up. Lots more in the report itself. Link below in the comments.

Almost 30% of all clicks go to platforms Google owns. And for every 1,000 searches on Google in the United States, 360 clicks make it to a non-Google-owned, non-Google-ad-paying property. Nearly 2/3rds of all searches stay inside the Google ecosystem after making a query. Social media sure isn't easy. But the fundamentals are simple. Here's our social media strategy advice in four steps: 1. Go to the social platform where your audience is. Ideally, it's a place where you already enjoy spending time. 2. Consider user intent while you map out your content strategy. Think of how you can align your value with a user’s intent on that specific social platform. 3. Focus on one platform exclusively until you gain traction. Don't spread yourself too thin. 4. Once you gain traction and have a repeatable process for content creation, expand to your next social media platform. Repurpose your greatest hits, and remix them into different formats.
