If you are wanting to showcase multiple products in a way that is easy for your customer to compare CGI is the best tool possible. We have multiple avenues that we can use to help fit your needs best. Visualizer: Visualizers are always our number one recommendation when our clients come to us with this goal. Plus as we have mentioned in the past visualizers are proven to increase site traffic and time on site. The biggest drawback many people have is the time investment involved in a visualizer and while this may be something to take note of, we have seen success with companies that have large inventories of over 3000 products use visualizers for internal sales training and customer usage. Room Scene/ Vignette:

Maybe you want to compare products but you also need new images for your website, a catalog, or tradeshow banner. Room scenes/ vignettes would be what you need. While a visualizer is always going to be helpful the ability to use and re-use images like this is unmatched. Silos:

This would definitely be the “Ol’ reliable” of CGI images, they may not be the most glamorous but they work! Plus they can be used in everything from your website and social media to catalogs and product listings. Honorable Mentions:

Composite images Videos/ animations 360 images VR/AR content

Surfaces: Surfaces are a really common product that we create images for using CGI. Not only because the images are beautiful but it cuts back on time and waste. Plus we can create some really stunning detail shots all while keeping color and lighting consistent. Surfaces are also a great candidate for visualizers. Visualizers are proven to increase time on site and site traffic. On top of being really enjoyable to use visualizers are the best way for customers to compare products while shopping.

Textiles are a great example of how far CGI has come in terms of creating images using organic shapes. In years past some have shied away from using CGI for textile products over concern for the accuracy and realistic ability of CGI. While this may have been true at one time, it definitely is not accurate anymore. In fact textile images are some of the most diverse image types, we can show the colors, textures, and application of the textiles with accuracy.

Time and time again we have preached the benefits of CGI as a broad concept, because ultimately CGI is great for any type of product. Today we wanted to show specific examples to back up our claims. We often mention the versatility of CGI, and how you can basically access any location at the click of a mouse. Well in these following examples we showcase images from different types of buildings, geographical locations, and window styles. Creating these images did not include any travel to scout locations, or large installment projects. This helps to showcase your product in an accurate way so that the end consumer can gather information to eventually help make a purchasing decision.

When you are trying to figure out where to start your CG project how do you decide which type of image will be best for you, and what should you focus on first? Grand room scenes are always a favorite of ours, not only are they eye-catching but they give our clients a chance to show off the beauty of their product to its full extent. But if you are just starting to use CGI or maybe launching a new product sometimes it is best to start with something else. The amazing thing about CGI is that it is incredibly versatile so we can give you practical AND beautiful images. One of our favorite image combinations is a silo plus vignette. This is a great way to showcase your product in an eye-catching way but also have a practical product image for your website. Of course you know how important it is for customers to feel confident in their purchasing decision so the more information they can get the better. Silos are great for a product listing and are a “no nonsense” way of showcasing your product, where as a vignette is when we can show a little bit of personality and really draw a customer in. When it comes to having marketing collateral it's best to have as many tools as possible. Giving your customer the full range of what your product has to offer shows them what they can expect when they buy from you. And ultimately high quality images and marketing content speaks for itself.

What kind of timeline can you expect with a CGI project? One of the most frequently asked questions we get when discussing new projects is “How long is this going to take?” And like most things with CGI our answer is “it depends.” While that is a wildly unhelpful answer there are many factors that go into a project that need to be taken into account. We tell clients that most projects will fall between 4-6 weeks. This of course can change depending on the scale of a project but generally speaking 4-6 weeks is enough time for planning, design, proofing, and a round of changes to a hand full of images. Of course in an ideal world the 4-6 weeks are not directly butting up to your internal launch deadlines, it’s always best to build in a bit of extra time but we are well aware that just isn’t how things work sometimes. Ultimately there will be extra changes or obstacles that need to be accounted for. Your deadline is incredibly important to us and we will do everything in our power to make it happen, but having a little extra buffer never hurt anyone! A few other things that help us streamline a project is in the pre-production phase. Things like having your CAD files, product information, design boards (if you want to provide them), and shot list ready to go and approved internally. That is enough to get us started on a scene, but we can also talk through things like modeling and design services if that is something you need. We have touched on things like our process, pre-production, and quick turnaround projects in previous newsletters which explain many of the same things we have listed above. But the easiest way by far to figure out a timeline for your project is to call us. We can give you a pretty good idea of what timeframe we can expect and what we can do to help you meet your deadlines and enjoy creating images!

Are you a priority with your current image vendor?   After attending the IBS and KBIS shows in Las Vegas recently, a recurring theme caught our attention. Many professionals expressed common frustrations with their current CGI vendors – missed deadlines, subpar quality, a lack of adherence to direction, incomplete image submissions, and a perceived lack of project prioritization. It's disheartening to learn that our industry isn't consistently meeting the high standards these exceptional companies are accustomed to. PIX-US is different. While we won't claim to be immune to occasional hiccups, on either end, we commit to proactive communication, helping you plan for project timelines, and dedicating our efforts to ensuring your success. When creating a shot list it’s important to think through different types of imagery. You need to consider the end use to determine the best path forward. In a single project we can have animations, hero images, vignettes, details, silos and more. Detail images don’t make the list as often as they should. They’re simple but make a huge impact for consumers. The first and number one way we see a detail image used is to highlight the physical attributes of a product. Whether it’s showing texture, color, pattern, depth, or reflectivity; a detail will illustrate exactly how your product looks and help the consumer to understand what they’re purchasing in a way that hero images cannot. When we talk about details we don’t just mean cropping in on your hero image. Sometimes that works but a truly successful detail will have well thought lighting and camera placement to help show off the attributes listed above. Hero images give your product a purpose and a place. They are often aspirational images used to help the consumer see themselves using/owning the product. Details do not serve that purpose. A detail keeps things simple and helps the consumer focus on what’s important, your product. Cropping tightly and using depth of field help keep ones eyes on the product and minimize other distractions in the scene. Finally details help support other images. There is a time and place for all of the content types we’ve listed and when used together you can create the largest impact for your consumers. Details can continue the visual journey and help provide additional information. If you’re planning a project with hero images get the most out of the space by adding supporting details. Detail images are great for packaging, social media, supporting web images and more. How can we help get your next project rolling?
