Equipping Defense Industry & Government Security Professionals to Make an Impact Since 1985
About us
The world has changed a great deal since 1985 and so has the National Security Institute. While NSI maintains its respected flagship information services for government and defense contractor security leaders, our employee security awareness programs are now widely used by America’s top corporations of all sizes and across all industries. Born out of years of developing best practices that persuade the average employee to take security seriously, these continuous, enterprise-wide cybersecurity awareness programs are helping companies of all sizes and industries avoid costly security breaches. With over 500 customers, NSI’s roots in protecting the nation’s defense technologies from corporate and nationstate espionage has evolved into enterprise-wide services that help all industries reduce the risk that cybercriminals will be able to exploit the average employee TWO SECURITY PROS TAKE A RISK Seeing the critical need that security teams at the nation's defense contractors had for better information and best practices, Steve and Dave struck out on their own to found the National Security Institute. A passion for supporting often under funded and under appreciated security professionals (and the 1984 birth of Apple's Macintosh personal computer!) fueled these two entrepreneurs on a 35 year journey. NSI continues to evolve and develop solutions to support corporate and government security professionals everywhere.

National Security Institute’s 37th annual forum kicked off today with Rear Admiral Mike Studeman, USN (Ret.) sharing his perspectives on the growing threat from nation state adversaries including their current tactics, techniques and procedures. Newly appointed DCSA Director David Cattler addressed his top priorities for their agency and how industrial security must evolve by 2040. This was later followed by a presentation from Assistant Director Matthew Redding. Thank you to all the dynamic executives who shared their leadership experiences and wisdom from these security-minded organizations: Peraton, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Boeing and ManTech. #USN #ONI #NSIIMPACT #DCSA #DOD #nationalsecurity #IC #geopoliticalrisk #insiderrisk

Connecting the dots between clearance policy + reality | serial community builder | writer | bibliophile
What a great time moderating the Trusted Workforce and NBIS panel at the National Security Institute IMPACT seminar. We’re going beyond compliance to improve security, and I’m here for it. The best part was discovering Isaiah Rivers is not just a CSO and the NISPPAC chair, but also has an angelic singing voice. Thankful to be able to spend the day with Jill Hamilton and for the many, many good friends and colleagues I was able to see. Special shout out to Robert Schadey and Heather Green with Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and Matt Eanes with the PAC PMO for their participation, as well. Everyone knows I tend to live life…unfiltered. And while there is still much progress to be made around personnel vetting and the security clearance process, I also don’t ever recall a better bench of leaders across government and industry working toward improvement. Let’s continue to work together to attract, grow, and mentor the next generation of security talent. There are some amazing individuals in this industry to learn from.

It was an honor to share insights on the crucial topic of understanding AI's impact on security. In today's digital age, where technology evolves rapidly, it's paramount to comprehend the intersection of artificial intelligence and security. AI offers immense potential for enhancing security measures and presents new challenges and vulnerabilities that we must address proactively. Once again, I extend my heartfelt thanks for the opportunity. I look forward to collective efforts to shape a more secure and resilient future. #AI #Security #Cybersecurity #NSIImpact #Risk #Collaboration
