Defending human dignity. Opposing sexual exploitation.

About us

The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) is the leading national organization exposing the links between all forms of sexual exploitation such as child sexual abuse, prostitution, sex trafficking, image-based sexual abuse, and the public health harms of pornography. NCOSE is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian non-profit that embraces a mission to defend human dignity and to oppose sexual exploitation. The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) believes in a world free from sexual abuse and exploitation. We believe every human being deserves the opportunity to live life to its fullest potential: to pursue dreams and ambitions; express creativity and hone talents; seek beauty, truth, and faith; experience hope, joy, and love with family and friends—to thrive. Such a vision requires not only individuals and institutions that work towards its realization but also a culture that embraces its responsibility to preserve and protect human flourishing. We aspire to create that culture. To accomplish this vision of abolition from sexual exploitation, NCOSE operates on the cutting edge of policy activism to combat corporate and government policies that foster exploitation, advance public education and empowerment, and spur united action by leading the movement through the international Coalition to End Sexual Exploitation. Areas of Concentration: *Pornography *Sex Trafficking of adults and children *Sexualization of Children *Sexual Assault and Violence *Child Pornography *Child Sexual Abuse *Prostitution *Violence Against Women *Sexual Addictions and Compulsivity *Sexually Oriented Businesses *Sexual Coercion *Image-based sexual abuse

Don't Crush Childhood, Apple. Today, we launched our response to Apple’s now infamous ad for the latest iPad, which drew criticism for just how much it missed the mark. Turns out, people don’t love when you #Crush humankind’s most beautiful creative tools. Crushing childhood won’t go over well either. In today’s world, tech companies play a huge role in safeguarding kids. They can do something about the harms children face in an increasingly digital world. They’re oftentimes the first line of defense, which is why inaction is simply not an option.   Apple has the opportunity to make their products safer for children. Now, we need Apple to see how many people want them to do just that, and our partners and supporters play a critical role in helping us get their attention. Share now: Don’t Crush Childhood.

  • “When I was growing up I did not know what grooming was...I did not know how to recognize when it was being done to me...which led up to my experience with sexual assault. It’s important to educate children, young adults, and adults about grooming. What it looks like in-person and online because it looks different...but still has the same results” What a dynamic panel discussion on the ‘Consider Before Consuming” podcast by Fight The New Drug. Fight The New Drug has teamed up with the Elizabeth Smart Foundation and Malouf Foundation to form PHASE Alliance. Combined, Phase Alliance has over 30 years of experience and has served over 10 million people across all platforms. We are thrilled to partner with Phase Alliance to host the 2024 Coalition to End Sexual Exploitation (CESE) Global Submit. August 5th-8th, hundreds of leaders from all over the world will come together in Washington, DC to dive deep into emerging tech, sexual exploitation, and the ongoing pursuit of dignity. 🔗 Full Podcast episode: https://lnkd.in/gz8e4pXB #fightthenewdrug #endexploitation #cesesummit

  • Image-Based Sexual Abuse (IBSA): The Real Impact 👇 In approximately 40% of IBSA cases, content is shared on Internet pornography websites. 80.8% of women and 72.9% of men reported feeling humiliated, depressed, angry, or fearful as a consequence. Last Tuesday, our CEO Dawn Hawkins spoke at a press conference held by Senator Ted Cruz to announce the ‘Take It Down Act’. Senator Cruz and Senator Klobuchar lead this bipartisan bill. National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Senator Lummis, RAINN, as well as survivors and parents, also spoke at this conference.  The Take It Down Act is a critical step toward finally requiring these companies to remove abuse content! #Takeitdown #enexploitation #massscaleprevention #policy #bipartisan

  • Our journey to fight for mass-scale prevention of sexual abuse and exploitation has not been an easy one. 2024 has been filled with challenges but there have also been many victories! 🙌 Here are a few victories that were achieved thanks to your help and support! 💡 Highlights: -Apple Nudify Apps and LinkedIn Ads are Gone. -Meta Blurs Nudity in Direct Messages for Minors After years of pressing Meta to automatically blur nudity in direct messages (DMs) for minors, across all platforms, They finally agreed to do so for Instagram and Facebook DMs. However, this was only for teens 13-15 years old, and that wasn’t enough for us. You joined us and continued to press them and they finally agreed to blur nudity for all minors on Instagram DMs. These changes happed just weeks after being placed on the 2024 Dirty Dozen List. -The Report Act Passed Congress Signed into law by President Biden on May 7th, this law requires platforms to report crimes against children involving sex trafficking, grooming, or the enticement of children for sexual acts to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s (NCMEC) Cyber Tipline. -2 Big Victories in our Pornhub Class Action Lawsuit  Survivors of child sexual abuse material distributed on Pornhub has a right to receive compensation if the lawsuit is won. Pornhub has been ordered to display a notice about the class action lawsuit on their website! This will alert other survivors of their rights through the lawsuit. -U.S. Supreme Court Rejects Challenge to the Age Verification Law. Nearly a dozen states are implementing age verification laws aimed at decreasing children visiting hardcore pornography. Pornhub began fighting back by removing access to their website from all users whose state has passed the age verification bill. The pornography industry continues to challenge the Texas version of the Law with no success. Even after taking their case to the U.S. Supreme Court, the Supreme Court has spoken and the Texas age verification law will stand!  Thanks to your support the victories continue and the progress to end sexual abuse and exploitation at mass- scale increases every day! Thank you for fighting for human dignity! Swipe to see the full report. #endexploitation #masscaleprevention #ImpactReport National Center for Missing & Exploited Children
