Today marks the 387th anniversary of the PequotMassacre at MysticFort, a major battle during the PequotWar. Before dawn on May 26, 1637, both European and their Indian allies slaughtered hundreds of our Pequot men, women, and children ancestors at our village in Mystic. Although there were subsequent battles, this one, in particular, is known as the Pequot Massacre or the #MassacreatMystic due to the vicious and unprecedented nature of the attack. On this day, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation not only remembers our ancestors who perished in the Pequot War, but we also remember those who survived to ensure that our tribe and culture continues. Because of them, we are resilient survivors.
