Back in September, Long Beach hosted its inaugural Grow Long Beach presentation discussing the program aimed at growing businesses in the city. Fast-forward a year and a lot’s happened, including most recently Ford Motor Co. signing a 250,000-square-foot lease in the city to build a research and development center focusing on electric vehicles. The new center, which is slated to open in early 2025, is expected to bring 450 jobs to the city. The company previously had a plant in Long Beach that opened in 1936 but closed 65 years ago.

One of Los Angeles’ most famous brokerages isn’t run by a person with a real estate background at all, but rather by an artist who decided to take the reins after her late husband’s death. Lori Hyland is the current owner and chair of Beverly Hills-based luxury firm Hilton & Hyland, which was founded by her late husband Jeffrey Hyland and his former business partner Richard Hilton.

The Los Angeles City Council on June 5 approved the addition of $200 million in contingency funds to the budget of the people mover project at Los Angeles International Airport to handle additional claims from the five-company prime contractor consortium building the line, bringing the total project cost to nearly $2.95 billion. The contingency funds were approved even as negotiations continue between Los Angeles World Airports, the city agency that runs LAX, and the contractor consortium, known as LAX Integrated Express Solutions, to resolve a series of disputes. Those disputes have helped push back the completion date by more than a year, to late next year. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gUBN2zMs
