A PSA about the LGBTQ+ Healthcare Directory, a project from Tegan and Sara Foundation (I’m a board member) and GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ+ Equality 🏳️⚧️❤️🏳️🌈 70% of transgender and nonbinary folks and 56% of lesbian, gay, and bisexual people have experienced discrimination from their healthcare provider. This includes being refused needed care, called slurs, or having their identity “blamed” for their health status according to a study from Lambda Legal In seeking solutions to these issues Tegan and Sara Foundation teamed up with GLMA to create the LGBTQ+ Healthcare Directory, a free, searchable database of all kinds of doctors and healthcare providers who are knowledgeable and sensitive to the unique health needs of LGBTQ+ people in the USA and Canada. The LGBTQ+ Healthcare Directory was created by an incredibly dedicated, diverse, and passionate team of LGBTQ+ creatives, medical professionals, researchers, and developers including Emy Storey and Jessica Halem. All of the providers in this database have come together to take an intentional stand against the lack of care and compassion that so many of us have been forced to experience. Everyone deserves access to healthcare providers who they can be open and honest with and anti-LGBTQ+ hate should not get in the way. Visit https://lnkd.in/gBcg2uds to start searching for a provider who has committed to upholding the rights and wellbeing of the LGBTQ+ community in their medical practice. It’s a great resource for LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Groups to recommend to their members!

We're thrilled to be featured in the Pride Issue of the Pittsburgh City Paper! Inspired by our latest report on LGBTQ+ health and social connection, the article highlights the loneliness epidemic in the LGBTQ+ community and the health benefits of belonging. “Whatever work you do, assume LGBTQ+ people are part of the public you serve. We seek healthcare, need housing, pursue education, use childcare, and invest in local communities just like anyone else," says Eidos Senior Innovation Manager James Wolfe, MS, NCC.
