Today, the EEA Joint Committee incorporated 52 legal acts into the EEA Agreement.🎊⚖ Highlights included three acts in the field of public health: 🦠 A regulation extending and strengthening the mandate of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). 🌐 A regulation on serious cross-border threats to health. 🩺 A regulation reinforcing the European Medicines Agency’s role in crisis preparedness management for medicinal products and medical devices. Recent health crises, notably the COVID-19 pandemic, have demonstrated the importance of public health cooperation and coordination between the EEA States. Public health matters are included in Protocol 31 to the #EEAAgreement, and EEA EFTA experts follow all EU developments in this area closely.🤝 This was the first meeting during Norway’s period as Chair of the Joint Committee. Ambassador Anders H. 🚗🎉 Ever wondered how much customs duties are saved for Mexican cars thanks to the FTA with EFTA? 🎉🚗   Today, 23 years ago, the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between EFTA and Mexico entered into force. Since 2001, our agreement has reduced and abolished tariffs, promoted cooperation, and facilitated trade.   In 2022 alone, the tariff savings for Mexican cars and parts amounted to a substantial 💰 USD 944,446 when exporting to the EFTA States. This information stems from the EFTA FTA Monitor 👉 https://lnkd.in/eXcMnWH8   There is potential for further export growth and improvement in the utilisation of preferences. Mexico’s car industry holds a potential USD 1,314,873 of non-achieved tariff savings with respect to exports to the EFTA States, underscoring the possibility for further benefits. Curious about the impact of EFTA-Türkiye trade relations? 🐟⌚🌍    Exactly six years ago, EFTA 🇮🇸🇱🇮🇳🇴🇨🇭 and Türkiye 🇹🇷 signed a modernised free trade agreement (FTA). Since then, it has been the backbone of our shared economic growth and cooperation. In 2022 alone, the benefits of this FTA were unmistakable, as evidenced by the substantial tariff savings on both sides. The FTA has proven instrumental in enabling tariff savings for exporters and importers in Türkiye and EFTA States. On imports of fish from EFTA States, an impressive 💰 USD 37,627,797 tariff savings were achieved, while on imports of Turkish textile products,  a staggering 💰 USD 48,836,943 was saved. Additionally, EFTA's watches benefited from tariff savings totalling 💰 USD 10,597,777, while 💰 USD 6,707,697 was saved on Turkish aluminium.
