Wow. My second Techstars Startup Weekend as a Techstars Community Leader in San Francisco surpassed all expectations. Here are some highlights: • Over 160 passionate participants showed up • More than 60 ideas were pitched on the first day • 20 dynamic teams were formed • 22 pitches were delivered on the final day • 3 winners and 3 special prize winners (from Convex and You.com) Participants gained invaluable insights from our esteemed speakers: Gabriela de Queiroz, Director of Microsoft for Startups, and SC Moatti, Founding Managing Partner at Mighty Capital, who shared invaluable knowledge and inspired our teams. A huge thank you to both 🙏 Our mentors played a crucial role in shaping the final pitches. We were fortunate to have exceptional professionals with extensive experience from big tech companies like Meta, Google, Airbnb, and NVIDIA, as well as successful startups. A special thanks to Neal Sales-Griffin, Managing Director at Techstars San Francisco, who, as head judge, provided invaluable support to all teams on the final day. And I am incredibly thankful to the remarkable Techstars Startup Weekend San Francisco AI team, my partners Yurii Filipchuk 🇺🇦 -- e/acc, Juliana Chyzhova, and Michael Popchuk for perfect facilitations. Their dedication, hard work, and seamless coordination were vital in making this event a success. Lastly, a big shoutout to our top partner, Convex with Wayne Sutton, for their support and contribution to the event's success. It was the best synergy! Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this event 🙌 Jen García, Bojan Babic, Deep S., Naji B., Serephina Ha, Sasha Krecinic, Insoo Chang, Ti Zhao, Tom Redman, Mohammad (Hamudi) Naanaa, Ricardo Segovia, Leslie Miley, Samy Movassaghi, PhD, Audrey Choy, Harsh Verma, Erika Bahr, Lesley G., Mihir Somaiya, Jiaru Cai, Kaivalya Gandhi, Tim Tesluck, Milad Mohammadi, Nuné Zadoyan, MBA, and more people, but unfortunately, I exceeded the maximum mention limit 😄 I can’t wait for the next one!

The community asked, and we delivered. Convex Auth (https://lnkd.in/gEpWnJky) is now live! , Indrajit Khare, Head of Product at Convex, just shared the details below.
We just launched Convex Auth (https://convex.dev/auth), an authentication library that works directly with Convex. It’s an easy way to jump start your project with a users table backed by real credentials. I’m really excited to see all the things people will build with it. You might ask, “Why build another Auth solution when good solutions already exist?” And for the last few months, we’d probably just respond with “Good point.” We’ve always recommended and still recommend that people use third party auth services like clerk.com with their Convex projects. (In fact, solutions like Clerk are required for advanced use cases like 2 factor, passkeys, and all the other bells and whistles). Our community, though, was running into a common hurdle: having user data readily available on their backend. - You want to be able to join a query against a user table. - You want to be able to easily access people’s email address and names in a background process to send a notification email. - You want to build complex user profile information that extends the base credential information. Very quickly in an app’s lifecycle you’re trying to figure out how to setup a webhook or stuffing information into a JWT that you can write through in some way—things get complicated fast! Our hope is that for most straightforward auth needs, Convex Auth can sidestep requiring a third party tool. Just like other great fullstack frameworks like Django, Rails, and Laravel, you get a users table right in your app, authenticated with Magic Links, OAuth, or passwords. Convex Auth is now launched in beta. Give it a try, and do give us feedback in our community. https://lnkd.in/g-TJrUyJ
