Powering NYC, Westchester, and leading the clean energy transition.
About us
We provide power to more than 10 million people and businesses across NYC and Westchester. Reliability and accessibility are central to what we do and how we provide energy service. Leading the industry to power tomorrow is our other focus- we are committed to aggressively transitioning away from fossil fuels to a net-zero economy by 2050. To help achieve this we collaborate with customers, regulators, policymakers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure our clean energy future is informed by principles of affordability, equity, and environmental justice. We’re also heavily investing in new technologies and the infrastructure that can get us there. What are a few things we have achieved so far? • Since 2009, our energy efficiency programs have prevented 11 million metric tons of carbon emissions – the same amount it would take to power 1.4 million homes for a year • Recently, we’ve embarked on an 8-year project to make our systems more resilient in the face of extreme weather events

Pride month is not just the month of June, it's celebrating year round to show who we are and what we do. Members of our LGBTQ+ community were asked to share their perspectives on Pride's importance and the value of authenticity both personally and professionally. While the journey towards complete equality is ongoing, our collective efforts bring us nearer to equality for all. #PrideMonth #Equality #Diversity #LGBTQ #Community

This #GlobalWindDay, we want to focus on the major investments we are making to bring offshore wind to NYC, and bring clean energy to millions of homes and businesses. One of these is our Brooklyn Clean Energy Hub project. This hub will have the potential to bring 1,500 MW of renewable wind energy into our grid. That's one step closer to 100% clean energy by 2040. Our team at BK Pride.
Beautiful day at the 28th Annual Brooklyn Pride Multicultural Festival in Park Slope. Con Edison’s Customer Outreach Team and LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group joined forces at a wonderful event which had over 30,000 community members in attendance. We had the privilege of meeting many of our customers as we handed out goodies and information on billing and payment options, EV charging incentives, our Energy Affordability Program and energy saving tips. Amazing day! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ #conedison #brooklynpride #lgbtq+ #community #pride Nathanael (Nate) Gay, MBA, PMP Adam Levine Nicole Powell

Contrary to popular fears, “the grid is not going to collapse” because of electric cars, says Britt Reichborn-Kjennerud, our Director of E-mobility. “The bigger concern is that if we don’t plan differently for this very fast-increasing load, the grid won’t be ready in time to support the transition.” Utilities, carmakers, and energy thought leaders are actually starting to look at EVs differently because of their untapped energy storage potential. With the growing number of EVs in NYC, we are evolving our planning processes to prepare the grid for the projected rapid growth in EV loads on our system. This is so we can be ready ahead of time to support our customer's EV charger installations, and to electrify their fleets. link to The New York Times story (requires sign up): http://spr.ly/604651DjM #EV #Evs #electricvehicle #power

According to a recent report from 2023, almost 50% of our clean energy investments have benefitted disadvantaged communities. These communities face environmental risks and vulnerabilities that can contribute to the adverse effects of climate change. We're committed to ensuring that all communities benefit from NY state's transition to clean energy, cleaner air, and economic opportunities.
