Today, we wrap up our Summer Reading with A|P’s Leadership! Ken Cohen, A|P’s Chief Financial Officer prefers numbers over words, however he is planning to read a book by his favorite author, Dan Brown, this summer. I find Dan Brown’s writing to be captivating and exciting. The best part of his books is the short chapter length. For people that do not read often, this makes a book not overwhelming. In the past, I was able to find time to read a few chapters at a time - whether it was bits of spare time after lunch or right before bed. In fact, I found myself reading more chapters at a time than I had planned. The Dan Brown books I have already read are well-known and loved: The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons and Digital Fortress. Because I like the author’s writing style mixing in real places and folklore, I decided to try his last published book Origin from 2017. The cover image happens to be a picture of La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain, which is one of my favorite places I have traveled. This book is another mystery thriller featuring the protagonist, Robert Langdon. I will take my spare time away from watching TikToks and pick up Origin this summer instead.

Happy Monday and happy Summer Reading! Today, we are sharing A|P’s Vice President of Operations’, David Halpryn, summer book recommendation. I recommend The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter for your summer reading. I am evolving and attempting to get out of my ‘comfort zone’, primarily through physical challenges. Most of us live in a small circle known as our comfort zone. We have no idea what exists on the edges of our potential, outside of that circle. We limit ourselves by virtue of habit and comfort – missing something vital. Question what you are mentally and physically willing to put yourself through to be a better person. Spiritually, mentally and physically. An analogy and reference to challenge within the read is “Misogi”. Misogi, is an ancient Japanese practice involving purifying the mind, body, and spirit through physical and mental challenges. The Misogi is about transformation. It's about shedding old habits and beliefs, and embracing a new, more powerful version of yourself. Only two rules of Misogi exist: 1. Challenge yourself really hard 2. Don’t Die Get out of your comfort zone!
