I think it is limited as to the patients understanding and attitude towards numerical systems. For example on scale 1-5 I may be resistant to is 1 or 5 because of the absolute side of the scale. On a scale of 1-4 I may prefer a mid point and none exists.

I saw by one of the comments that the person was also confused. You need to provide examples where numeracy is important such as Shock Index, Blood work (Labs), BMI, cholesterol, metrics affecting co-morbidities. Then the most emptiness numeracy, financial aspects of treatment, management, and care. The article as it is, difficult to read to understand and way to vague.
