The Mandalorian is arguably the most popular Star Wars series to emerge from Disney taking the space opera franchise to the streaming arena. Starring Pedro Pascal in the lead role, the series explores the post-Return of the Jedi timeline in the franchise.

The series is expected to merge with some of the other post-Return of the Jedi shows in a feature film directed by Dave Filoni. During an interview, Filoni spoke about his upcoming film and whether it would serve as a finale to The Mandalorian. Filoni’s comments suggest that Pedro Pascal’s character could be killed off in the film, and here is why.

Exclusive: Paramount Pictures has greenlit the Johannes Roberts horror film Primate, with Oscar winner Troy Kotsur (Coda) set to lead the cast. Roberts will direct the Walter Hamada-produced feature, which Roberts co-wrote with Ernest Riera.
Plot details are being kept under wraps.
The project falls under Hamada’s exclusive first-look deal with Paramount which began January 1, 2023, making him “the architect of Paramount’s mainstream horror genre pod, with the mission to release several low- to mid-budget films per year across theatrical and streaming.”
The former DC Films boss steered DC to its highest-grossing movie Aquaman with $1.1 billion worldwide. He was also behind The Conjuring franchise, the highest-grossing horror series ever with more than $2 billion in global box office, 2017’s It and Matt Reeves’ The Batman, to name a few.

Boba Fett made his long-awaited return in The Mandalorian, and the show's second season concluded with a post-credits scene setting the stage for The Book of Boba Fett.
Unfortunately, that series was widely considered a disappointment by fans, though an episode devoted to The Mandalorian - which included appearances from Luke Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano - massively overshadowed the titular bounty hunter...as did Din Djarin!
Talking at the recent McM Comic Con London (via Yahoo! News), Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison (who has been critical of The Mandalorian's invasion of The Book of Boba Fett) said he believes the favour now needs to be repaid.
"I would actually like my character to visit The Mandalorian, the Mando fort or something, and come in there and kick some real serious ass as well," he told fans. "The way he did and came into my show, and stole an episode...

Temuera Morrison Wants Payback for Mandalorian's Episode in The Book of Boba Fett - Main Image
Temuera Morrison wants to seek payback for the Mandalorian's guest appearance episode in The Book of Boba Fett.
The seven-episode Disney+ series notably had an episode featuring the Mandalorian without any appearance from the titular character at all. While his guest role was celebrated by fans, it also left them baffled since the series is supposedly centered on Boba Fett.
So far, there are no plans yet from Lucasfilm to do a second season of The Book of Boba Fett nor bring back the fan-favorite character in another project that continues his adventure in Tatooine.

Temuera Morrison, the actor behind the iconic Boba Fett in the Star Wars universe, has humorously expressed his desire to return to The Mandalorian series, citing a playful sense of payback as his motivation. Morrison’s comments, made during his appearance at the McM London Comic Con, have sparked interest among fans of the franchise.
Morrison, who has been part of the Star Wars saga since his debut as Jango Fett in 2002’s Episode II: Attack of the Clones, starred in his own Disney+ series, The Book of Boba Fett, in late 2021. However, the show’s focus shifted significantly in its latter half, with substantial screen time given to Din Djarin (The Mandalorian) and Grogu, characters from the popular series The Mandalorian.

The Acolyte Fans Rebel Against Super Short Episode Lengths - Main Image
Are episodes of Disney’s The Acolyte too short? Fans of the latest Star Wars serial are complaining about the reduced runtime of episodes compared to other major shows.
While The Acolyte features episodes that cross into the 40-minute territory, similar to The Mandalorian or Ahsoka, shows like The Boys or House of the Dragon offer longer, near-hour-long episodes. This discrepancy has led fans to express their dissatisfaction with the length of The Acolyte, attributing the series' problems to the reduced runtime.

As we today, there's still nothing to suggest that Lucasfilm has renewed The Book of Boba Fett for a second season. With that in mind, it's looking increasingly unlikely that the iconic bounty hunter's story will continue in his own series.
Actor Temuera Morrison hasn't shied away from criticising the way he was left on the shelf when The Mandalorian season 3 rolled around and has even said Din Djarin taking centre stage in The Book of Boba Fett played a role in "ruining" the spin-off.
While harsh, it's a valid observation in some ways because an entire episode of the show was devoted to Din and Grogu. Both characters - and their heartfelt reunion - largely overshadowed Fett during the finale and became the main reason for many Star Wars fans to tune in.

The Star Wars franchise has seen its ups and downs throughout the years. The Modern Star Wars projects, be it the sequel trilogy or the TV shows, have all tried to present their own story that harkens back to the original films. The results have been mixed and the franchise is not at its best currently.

The Acolyte has been making headlines for weeks, though most of those have related to possible review-bombing and so-called continuity errors which somehow disrespect the wider Star Wars franchise.
Simply put, there's an awful lot of noise out there and it's overshadowed what's shaping up to be one of the better stories told by the Disney-owned Lucasfilm. While the next few weeks will be crucial in cementing the show's legacy, there are plenty of reasons you should give The Acolyte a chance.
In this feature, we take a deep dive into why The Acolyte is a must-watch for Star Wars fans, delving into what it does right and why many of the complaints you've heard aren't necessarily valid. Be warned that some spoilers do follow.

Revenge of the Sith marks the conclusion of George Lucas’ prequel trilogy of Star Wars movies. The 2005 movie cemented Anakin Skywalker’s fall to the dark side while setting up the events of the original trilogy. As a result, the film had plenty of ground to cover in a short amount of screen time. However, Lucas originally had a much longer cut of the film on hand.
Revenge of the Sith might have been the longest Star Wars movie (Credit: LucasFilm).
According to Matthew Wood, who voiced General Grievous in the film, the original cut for the Revenge of the Sith would have made it one of the longest films in the franchise. However, Lucas eventually managed to trim the fat and reduce the film’s length. Here is what Wood had to say about the film’s original cut and his role as General Grievous.

The recent debut of ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ sparked significant controversy within the Star Wars community. The show has faced both intense criticism and praise, revealing starkly contrasting views between critics and fans.
Currently, ‘The Acolyte’ holds an 85% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but only 13% from audiences, categorizing it as “Rotten.” Issues such as canon inconsistencies and accusations of promoting “woke” ideology have added fuel to the debate.
There are several reasons why ‘The Acolyte’ has received criticism, starting with its lukewarm story and uneven pacing. Budget concerns also loom large, with the show’s $180 million cost for 8 episodes yielding little apparent value so far. Yet, one could argue that even a superior show might struggle due to ongoing trends within highly lucrative franchises tied to Disney.
The concept of superhero fatigue, often associated with the MCU, has been cited as a factor impacting profitability in recent years.

The most recent release of ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ caused quite a stir in the Star Wars community. The show has been a target of both review-bombing and review-boosting, with critics and fans having vastly different opinions of the show.
The show currently has 85% approval on Rotten Tomatoes by critics and 13% by fans, making the show Rotten. Instances of canon breaking in the show and alleged “woke” propaganda also did not help.
Now there are several reasons why the show has been called bad, a lukewarm story with weird pacing first and foremost. There’s also the issue with the show’s budget, the show did cost $180 million for 8 episodes, and so far has little to show for it. However, you can also make an argument that a show much better than ‘Acolyte’ wouldn’t fare any better due to something that’s been going on for a while, especially...

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ is the latest installment in the franchise, premiering three weeks ago amidst significant review-boosting and review-bombing. It has become infamous for its controversial elements, including canon-breaking decisions and a substantial $180 million budget for eight episodes, each around 45 minutes long.
Despite its hefty budget, some question whether ‘The Acolyte’ justifies its cost. While featuring impressive action sequences and VFX, recent episodes have been criticized for minimal development and sparse lightsaber action.
Recently, one of the show’s writers explained that Kelnacca’s death couldn’t be shown on-screen due to budget constraints and the need to maintain point-of-view integrity. This statement didn’t sit well with fans, many of whom criticized the show for looking cheap. So, let’s compare it with recent hits and past Star Wars installments.
According to Forbes, ‘The Acolyte’ allocated $49 million to pre-production, leaving $130 million for principal photography, reshoots, and post-production. While...

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ is the latest installment in the franchise. The show premiered 3 weeks ago to a significant degree of both review-boosting and review-bombing. It will go down in infamy as one of the most controversial installments, due to canon-breaking and significantly hefty budget.
You can’t really tell, but ‘The Acolyte’ had a $180 Million budget for 8 episodes that approximately last around 45 minutes. This is quite the amount of money. There are some impressive action sequences included in the show so far and impressive VFX work, but is it worth $180 million? Practically nothing happened in the last two episodes of the show and even the lightsaber action was minimal.
One of the show’s writers recently explained that Kelnacca’s death couldn’t be shown on-screen due to budget constraints and breaking of Pov. Fans did not take to that statement fondly, and quite a significant number of viewers...

Disney’s “Star Wars” shows have delivered plenty of Emmy nominations so far, with the likes of “The Mandalorian,” “Andor,” and “Obi-Wan Kenobi” all garnering bids at their respective Emmy ceremonies.
“Ahsoka” is looking to join these shows by securing Emmy bids of its own and lead star Rosario Dawson looks to be the show’s best chance at a nomination. “Ahsoka” is a continuation of the animated series “Rebels,” and follows Dawson as former Jedi padawan-turned-rebel Ahsoka, who is trying to unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi). The role of Ahsoka was originated by Ashley Eckstein, who voiced her in both “The Clone Wars” and “Rebels.” Dawson then took over the role in live-action form when she appeared in one episode of season two of “The Mandalorian” as well as an episode of “The Book of Boba Fett.”

Bryce Dallas Howard will be returning to the Star Wars franchise as a director in the upcoming show Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. The show also has great creative minds such as Jon Watts, the Daniels, and more helming various episodes. In a recent interview, Dallas Howard mentioned that she would be excited to have her own film in the franchise.
The Disney-led Star Wars IPs have not been received well by fans of the franchise. The most recent Disney Plus series The Acolyte’s 14% rating on Rotten Tomatoes is proof that the studio is doing something wrong with the IP. Amidst criticisms of the shoddy writing in the show, fans hope Disney would let creators like Bryce Dallas Howard lead a series.

Over the past 20-odd years, the rise of geek culture has been something absolutely wild to witness. For members of Gen Z and Gen Alpha, the popularity of comic book movies, sci-fi/fantasy franchises, and other attendant IP has always been the norm, while for us in the Gen X or millennial generations, it's been a roller coaster of emotions. There was the rising exhilaration of seeing characters and material long regarded as merely silly or lesser-than suddenly legitimized in a big way, followed by the over-the-hill period we're living through right now, in which many feel groggily hungover by the chokehold that comic book movies and cinematic universes have had on populist cinema for the last several years.
There's a bit of a monkey's paw aspect to all of this, where growing up being bullied and made fun of for loving comics and geek media saw the rise of...

George Lucas returned to the galaxy far, far away to complete his epic space opera saga with the prequels that detail the backstory of Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader. The prequels explore the rise of the Empire and the fall of the Jedi, with the Clone Troopers playing a crucial role in the overall storyline of this particular era.

In the third installment of the prequels Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Lucas brought back actor Temuera Morrison to play some of the Clone Troopers following his performance as Jango Fett in the earlier installment. However, Lucas quickly realized that Morrison was too old for the part and came up with an inventive solution to resolve the issue.

Ahsoka composer Kevin Kiner discussed his Star Wars influences for the Disney+ series at Deadline’s Sound & Screen Television live-music event. He also revealed an homage to Star Wars composer John Williams in episode 5.
“I kind of do this Williams lick,” Kiner said during a panel discussion. “I know every single piece of John Williams music in Star Wars and I didn’t do it exactly. I didn’t plagiarize, him but I knew the scale he was using and stuff.”
Although Williams retired from Star Wars after The Rise of Skywalker and never directly worked on the Disney+ and Lucasfilm Ltd TV series, Kiner said there’s no avoiding Williams DNA in that universe.
“You do have to pay homage,” Kiner said. “It just harkens to the magic of the old Star Wars. We are very careful about how we use John Williams’ feel and stuff.”

The current state of Star Wars television is divisive, to say the least. While shows like The Mandalorian and Andor made fans want to revisit a galaxy far, far away, other shows like The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi made them remember why there hasn’t been a Star Wars movie in a while.

Introduced in the 2008 animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano has grown to become an integral character in the franchise. And Dave Filoni, who is currently working on a second season of the Disney+ series Ahsoka, has recently revealed a key aspect the Star Wars creator George Lucas suggested about the character.

In a recent conversation with The Acolyte creator, Leslye Headland, Filoni revealed that Lucas had advised him to focus on Ahsoka’s inherent capability and avoid depicting her as overwhelmed during her arc in The Clone Wars.

Played by Rosario Dawson in the franchise, Ahsoka Tano has emerged as one of the most formidable Jedi, confronting adversaries like Darth Maul and Darth Vader. This depiction also underscores her training under Anakin Skywalker and her innate strength in the Force.

On June 4, the first two episodes of a new series set in a galaxy far, far away debuted on Disney+. The Acolyte adds a detective twist to the Star Wars formula, but it doesn't seem to be a big deal either for fans or casual viewers.
Beware: the following text contains spoilers.
Detective Line Development and Acting Leave Much to Be Desired
The first episodes of The Acolyte leave you with mixed feelings. First of all, the choice of genre plays a cruel joke with the story. The detective component seems unconvincing: first they try to convince us that Osha committed the murders, but already in the second episode we learn that her lost twin sister is to blame for everything, and that is too soap-opera-like a twist even for Star Wars.
Second, literally almost every role is not very convincingly played. Amandla Stenberg in the two main roles seems...

Disney’s new Star Wars project, The Acolyte, quickly gained notoriety and was on track to become the most controversial Star Wars project of all time, even before its official premiere, as most of you will know by now. The series finally premiered on Disney+ on June 4, 2024, with two episodes, and the critics and fans will now finally be able to give their opinions on the talked-about series. As many expected, the critics are actually satisfied with the series, which has received mostly positive reviews, although not overwhelmingly like some other projects. On the other hand, the fans are – also as expected – very critical and we have, as it stands, another polarizing project in front of us.
And while even the critics have made it clear that The Acolyte is not the best Star Wars series out there, based on the first episodes, the series has a lot of potential.

Luke Skywalker is one of the most popular characters in the Star Wars universe, having played a central role in the original trilogy. Played by Mark Hamill, the original trilogy sees Luke training to become a full-fledged Jedi Knight and harnessing the ability to use the Force. In the end, Luke defeats the Empire seemingly becoming a Jedi in the process.

Patton Oswalt saw the future. Or, at least his Parks and Recreation character did.
Speaking during a visit on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week, Oswalt recalled a 2013 episode where he played an angry Pawnee resident who engages in a filibuster. The rambling speech morphs into a pitch of his idea for a Marvel and Star Wars crossover film.
“So the scene was supposed to be [that] I announce I’m gonna do this filibuster and then they cut to Amy’s character, Leslie, just going ‘Oh dear God,’ and that would be the joke,” Oswalt recounted. “And then the directors and the writers said, ‘Let’s not yell cut and just see how long he’ll talk.’”
Oswalt did his best to keep it going.
“[Marvel] had not done Guardians of the Galaxy. When I say Time Gem [one of the Infinity Stones], they cut to Chris Pratt. This was way before he did Guardians,” Oswalt explained.

So far, we haven't heard much from Lucasfilm about the current status of Skeleton Crew but an upcoming merch has unveiled the spinoff's main cast, months before the show's supposed premiere.

Star Wars franchise has plenty of projects in the making, there’s two projects we are expecting this year, namely ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ and ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.’ But besides shows, there are a couple of movies in the works as well, one of them being James Mangold’s Star Wars movie, and there’s little we know about it.
Recently, however, SFX Magazin reported that Mangold’s new movie will be titled “Star Wars: Jedi Prime.’ This wasn’t confirmed in an official sense but due to the credibility of the source it’s as good as confirmed.

Boba Fett was conspicuous by his absence in The Mandalorian season 3 and, much to the chagrin of actor Temuera Morrison, the bounty hunter even took a backseat to Din Djarin in his own series.
Given the mixed response to The Book of Boba Fett, it's currently unclear what the future holds in store for a character we all thought had died in Return of the Jedi. However, some Star Wars fans are convinced his new armour design has been revealed...in The Simpsons?!
In the latest episode, titled "The Tipping Point," Boba Fett is spotted wearing a suit which features several significant changes to the character's appearance in Disney's recent Star Wars offerings.
As we first pointed out on SFFGazette.com, the design is clearly based on The Book of Boba Fett but includes added details to his shoulder pauldrons and Mandalorian spike decals above his helmet's visor. While this may seem like a stretch,...

Sci-fi legend Sigourney Weaver has gone up against face-hugging aliens and squared off against colonizers on lush green planets, but she has never faced stormtroopers and galactic bounty hunters.
Until now.
Weaver is in talks to join the cast of The Mandalorian & Grogu, the first Star Wars movie to go into production since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau is directing the feature, which is expected to film later this year. Favreau, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm chief creative officer Dave Filoni will produce the feature.

George Lucas is unarguably one of the best masters of science fiction storytelling, and the Star Wars saga only proves just how immensely talented he is. Not only has he created jaw-dropping storylines for this universe, but he has also introduced some of the most out-of-the-world characters. This also includes getting influenced by other universes and basing his own characters on them.

Surprisingly enough, Cad Bane, who is regarded as one of the most dangerous bounty hunters in this sci-fi universe, was created after Lucas was inspired by a character from Sergio Leone’s Dollars Trilogy. But what’s iconic is that this particular bounty hunter is actually based on Lee Van Cleef’s Angel Eyes, the enigmatic character from the Clint Eastwood-starrer trilogy.

Known for his work on several Star Wars projects, Dave Filoni has become a key figure in shaping the space opera. Starting with his work on animated projects such as The Clone Wars and Rebels, he has also ventured into live-action projects The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, and has since assumed the role of chief creative officer at Lucasfilm.

However, when he initially received a call with an offer to work with Lucasfilm Animation, Filoni’s skepticism nearly caused him to overlook the opportunity, as he refused to believe that Lucasfilm Animation even existed and that the offer was potentially a prank.

The original trilogy of Star Wars films is known for its highly unique visual style and storytelling. The trilogy created by George Lucas has carved itself a special place in pop culture. Fans continue to enjoy discussing several aspects of the films, especially certain creative choices made by Lucas that did not sit well with them, such as the death of Boba Fett in Return of the Jedi.

1977’s Star Wars, directed by George Lucas, captivated audiences worldwide with many falling in love with the galaxy far far away. While Luke, Leia, and Han Solo became fan favorites, the deaths of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader in the original trilogy moved fans because of their affection for the characters.

Star Wars has always had some of the most iconic characters of all time. From Darth Vader to Kylo Ren and General Palpatine, there has been a wide range of characters who perfectly contrast the heroes standing before them. Whether it is in front of Luke Skywalker or anyone else, their twisted mirror images become more and more interesting to watch as the franchise progresses.

Out of the many "Star Wars" shows that have come out of the Disney era, "Obi-Wan Kenobi" is arguably the weirdest. Like "The Book of Boba Fett," it is a show about one of the most beloved characters in the entire franchise, which brings back beloved actors, and promises to answer some questions fans had wondered about for years in regards to Kenobi's actions and whereabouts before meeting Luke Skywalker. Our own Ethan Anderton called this an unnecessary prequel in his review, but acknowledged that it's also "a thrilling new adventure that adds enticing emotional layers to the Jedi Master's story."
The show depicts Obi-Wan Kenobi hiding from his guilt over what happened to Anakin, from the ghosts of all his dead friends, and from the dangers of the Empire. Before Kenobi reclaimed his connection to the Force, he was just a sad hermit living in the desert. But we...
