This episode’s recap includes spoilers for episode three of season two of House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. Proceed with caution! The third episode of House of the Dragon’s second season manages to deliver quite an impact, especially with a significant moment: a fated reunion between Rhaenyra and Alicent, attempting to bridge past conflicts before the storm of war descends upon the Seven Kingdoms. However, this episode will be most remembered for the surprise return of Milly Alcock as the younger Rhaenyra. Alcock’s earlier portrayal won hearts due to her exceptional performance in the Australian dramedy series Upright.

If you watch House of the Dragon, you know Mysaria, nicknamed the White Worm, a powerful informant who was once a slave, sex worker, and lover of Daemon Targaryen. This character has endeared herself to viewers not only because she is one of the few characters to side with the common people, but also because of the actress, Sonoya Mizuno, who played the role brilliantly.
Sonoya Mizuno's career is clearly at its peak – not only has she starred in the most high-profile TV project of recent years, but also starred in Civil War, an Alex Garland film that recently hit theaters and received much praise from viewers and critics.
But even before Civil War, Sonoya starred in a series by the same director titled Devs, and this is a project that any fan of a mix of sci-fi and philosophical reflection should check out.

For those who have only seen House of the Dragon and not read George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, or vice versa, you might find a bit of difference between the female characters in the different media. As for those who have read the book and are currently watching the series, they will tell you that House of the Dragon has failed to show the complexity of its female characters.

Fans especially have had complaints about the three most prominent females in the series – Alicent, Rhaenyra, and Rhaenys. While they are stronger, more brutal, and violent in the book, the show depicts them in a light that dilutes their ruthlessness and political savvy. On the other hand, things were a bit different with Game of Thrones.

House of the Dragon has been establishing itself as a force to be reckoned with in the world created by George R.R. Martin. The spin-off series has done an excellent job of following up on the high standards set by Game of Thrones, and there is no denying that fans are absolutely hooked.
When actors are playing a role, they often lose themselves within the intentions of their character and the two begin to blur together. It would seem that during the filming of the first season of the series, the same happened to Paddy Considine.

HBO’s House of the Dragon is a spin-off series related to Game of Thrones. It premiered back in 2022 and the series, whose first season consisted of 10 episodes, was welcomed by both critics and fans. Because of that, it was soon renewed for a second season, which finally premiered Sunday, June 16, 2024, to great reviews as well.

Game of Thrones has found a new lease of life with the ongoing prequel series House of the Dragon. The franchise saw a dip in quality and received extreme backlash for its lackluster handling of the final season of the mothership show. The prequel series brought back the glory days of the franchise with fans being reminded of what made Game of Thrones great.

Prince Daemon Targaryen is one of the most fascinating characters in House of the Dragon, with an equally powerful performance from Matt Smith. The character is known for his moral ambiguity and unpredictableness, making him a wild card in the quest for the Iron Throne. Therefore, it isn’t a surprise that Daemon is a fan-favorite.

However, the television adaptation makes one major change to Daemon’s story from the source material. In the process, it shifts Daemon’s depiction from that of a morally grey character to an outright villainous one. As a result, fans are extremely unhappy with the change. Here is what fans had to say about House of the Dragon‘s major deviation with respect to Daemon’s story.

House of the Dragon’s season 2 latest episode may have given a hint at its lead characters’ change of mind regarding the inevitable and fast approaching war, but there’s only one character in the entire show who has been silently protesting everything that was happening in there for too much time now.
The second season’s premiere episode was quick to get another Targaryen falling victim to the long-standing feud, but young Prince Jaehaerys’s suffering is nothing compared to what his seemingly awkward mother has been through.

While some of the differences that House of the Dragon has brought to George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood have made the underlying conflict of the series deeper and more interesting to explore, others have done nothing but ruin beloved characters. One of my personal favorites from the novel was Rhaenys, but now I am counting the days to see her death.
Thanks to Ryan Condal's version of her character, I have come to appreciate her book counterpart even more. And worst of all, Eve Best would absolutely kill as the book's Rhaenys if only she were given the chance.

House of the Dragon’s season 2 has been around with already 3 episodes out, but the Blacks and the Greens’ crucial game players are still there and eager to fight more than ever before.
The show has yet to introduce the long-promised bloody war between the Targaryens which, as George R.R. Martin’s book series lovers know, will be quick to eliminate some of the teams’ pivotal members.
Though the whole fight is set to make its way to the show in the following episodes, with many believing that we’re likely to see the war unfolding sometime in season 3, House of the Dragon has already given some major spoilers about who eventually won’t survive the upcoming battles, and most of those hints are tricky enough to be that obvious.

George R.R. Martin came out with some criticism about books being adapted into shows and films and rarely doing the source material justice. However, the author found himself pleasantly surprised when House of the Dragon changed the source material, only for him to declare it better than the books.

Blood and Cheese made their debut in the first episode of the second season, titled A Son for a Son, referencing the death of Lucerys Velaryon in the finale of the previous seasons. The show sees the fallout of the death, with Daemon Targaryen hiring assassins to slay Aemond Targaryen, named Blood and Cheese.

The previous episodes of House of the Dragon Season 2 were filled with intense brutality that certainly shocked and made everyone’s stomach turn. That’s a trademark of the show, after all, and author George R.R. Martin seemed very pleased so far with its progress.

Some fans aren’t that impressed, though, and some do not agree with the author’s take on specific aspects. They believed Martin’s praise for the show wasn’t genuine at all.

House of the Dragon season 2 arrived several weeks ago with a firm purpose to have viewers divided on who deserves to win the upcoming full-scale war, but instead the show brought a plot twist that now changed things radically.
The second season’s episode 3 titled The Burning Mill shows Rhaenyra and Alicent’s first ever meeting since King Vyseris I’s death, though their conversation does nothing for potentially making peace and avoiding the bloody war. The scene in fact undermines both women’s positions in the long-standing feud.
Both Rhaenyra and Alicent have always appeared to be adamant about their decision to fight for the Iron Throne no matter what since this is what they considered themselves being worthy of. However, the episode reveals that their biggest incentive to proceed to the inevitable war is actually a prophecy made by Aegon the Conqueror years before.

Dragons are constant characters in fantasy stories in both the West and the East. They also occupy an important place in Japanese animation – there is an incredible amount of anime about dragons.
We have chosen nine titles for you, so that the weekly wait for the next episode of the main dragon series right now – House of the Dragon – would be less painful.
1. Fairy Tail, 2009-2019
Once upon a time, dragons ruled the world, but no one has seen them in centuries. All that remains are legends about these wise and powerful creatures.
However, their magical power lives in people called Dragon Slayers – one of them is the main character named Natsu Dragneel. Together with other wizards, he forms the guild Fairy Tail to travel the world and fight evil.
In this story, there are dragons of all kinds: living and dead, dragons turned into humans and humans turned into dragons.

With each new episode, House of the Dragon’s brand new second season is getting closer to the promised bloody war between the Targaryens, and though the whole action hasn’t started officially yet, there were definitely signs of the whole mess coming into King’s Landing and Dragonstone.

It is a well-known fact in Hollywood that adaptations will always leave some fans disappointed. Oftentimes, when something is being adapted from the pages of a book to the big screens of the film industry, things can get lost in translation, which can make many fans prefer the books. When it comes to many aspects of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, fans prefer to read George R.R. Martin’s books over watching the series.

The V-ued up, former The Boys leader who was seen kidnapping Dr. Sameer Shah in the previous episode, was seen coming to terms with the two personas that have taken over his mind.

The calendar flipped to July this week. There is plenty of ongoing scripted programming to help you pass the time indoors and away from the oppressive heat and humidity of summer. But in terms of new shows, Netflix’s latest sports documentary series, “Sprint: The World’s Fastest Humans,” is the highlight of the long holiday weekend.
The streaming service’s newest addition is a six-episode series that offers viewers a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to be not just an elite athlete but one of the fastest people alive. A perfectly timed primer for the Paris Olympics later this month, the show — all episodes of which are now streaming on Netflix — follows top sprinters throughout the 2023 World Championships, including Americans Sha’Carri Richardson and Noah Lyles, and Jamaican superstar Shericka Jackson, among others. If you can keep up, “Sprint: The World’s Fastest Humans” is the awards contender to watch this weekend.

The intricacies of Daemon Targaryen’s character have fascinated fans of House of the Dragon since the show’s debut. In the second episode of Season 2, we clearly see his complex motives, especially through his interactions with ruthless figures like Blood and Cheese. Daemon’s Ruthless Strategy Daemon instructs Blood and Cheese, two assassins, with a plan that starkly reveals his ambition and resentment towards his enemies. The orders were likely fueled by a deep desire for power and revenge, which align with past speculations about his character. By leveraging these killers, he positions himself as a threat not just to the...

[This story contains spoilers for House of the Dragon season two, episodes one and two.]
George R.R. Martin has nothing but high praise for season two of HBO’s House of the Dragon so far, especially a new four-legged character.
The author and producer recently took to his personal blog to share his review of the initial episodes of the Game of Thrones prequel series’ new season. He also recalled touring the show’s “spectacular” set at England’s Leavesden Studios in November.
“I have visited real castles that did not look half as imposing as the Red Keep and Dragonstone did. And they were Huge,” Martin wrote. “I also got a sneak peak at the first two episodes of season 2 [“A Son for a Son” and “Rhaenyra the Cruel”]. What a great way to start the season. The directing was superb. Game of Thrones veteran Alan Taylor directed the first episode, and Clare Kilner the second. Both of them did a magnificent job.

House of the Dragon’s brand new season 2 is all about politics and wars between House Targaryen’s divided family members, but there’s never been a scarce place for all the personal drama between the lead characters.
Having already proved that there’s now some bad blood between Rhaenyra and her uncle-husband Daemon, the show is about to introduce an even bigger challenge for the most controversial couple’s relationships, and it has a lot to do with their common ally.
House of the Dragon’s season 2 reintroduced Mysaria, portrayed by Sonoya Mizuno, in its premiere episode. Initially brought to the screen as Daemon Targaryen’s mistress and later on proclaimed Mistress of Whispers, Mysaria is a very accurate personification of her own nickname since she’s mostly known for her ability to juggle both the Blacks and the Greens at a different time.

An Episode Steeped in Conflict Tension reigned supreme in King’s Landing, as this episode prominently focused on three major conflicts: Rhaenyra with Daemon, Aegon with Otto Hightower, and the Cargyll twins. Each of these encounters highlights the intensity and deteriorating familial bonds that are central to this season. Emilia Clarke – the face that represents the rise and fall of HBO’s Game of Thrones – ravaged through each season of the show like a storm of unbroken promises and the finality of death. The precipitous end that robbed the fans of their decade-long dream and the feeling of vindication was more in the style of House of the Dragon than the carefully curated arc of the parent show.

The recent “Shark Week” tradition of having a DC Universe superhero host the beloved Discovery Channel event continues this year when “Peacemaker’s” John Cena kicks off the festivities this Sunday. Cena’s gig as emcee comes after “Aquaman” Jason Momoa’s turn last year, and “Black Adam” star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s two-year stint before that. The difference between Cena and his predecessors was his lack of shark education.
“One of the interesting things about John is that, and he admitted this from the beginning, he really didn’t know a lot about sharks,” U.S. networks chief marketing officer Karen Bronzo told Variety of Cena, who is also tied to the Wbd family as host of TBS’ “Wipeout.” And part of the mission of ‘Shark Week’ is to celebrate these amazing creatures and educate people about these creatures. While many book purists are unhappy with the on-screen versions of Rhaenyra and Alicent that House of the Dragon has created, I cannot help but find their characters extremely important to television in general. All comparisons to George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood aside, Rhaenyra Targaryen is a protagonist that's long overdue.
She is by no means the hero in shining armor, but she is a woman, a mother, a human being who deserves to be trusted and respected. And that is exactly what makes me, along with many other viewers, root for her so hard.
Will Rhaenyra Targaryen Win the War?
Just as in the novel, Rhaenyra's life on screen has been full of people trying to manipulate her and break her trust. But ever since she was granted the role of an heir by her father, she has taken it seriously and remained faithful to her responsibilities not only to him,...

Time doesn’t skip in House of the Dragon. Episode 2 directly continues from where Episode 1 left off, demonstrating the immediate aftermath of young Jaehaerys’ death. This 72-minute episode, written by Ryan Condal and directed by Claire Kilner, marks the series’ longest to date and offers a deep dive into the fabric of the Targaryen civil war, affecting not just the royal blood but also the common folk. The initial moments feature a panicked scene with frenzied servants and villagers desperately fleeing. These shots capture civilian life upheaval amidst a crisis, much like an unsafe public space evacuation in our...
