This thread is the product of boredom, and the ease of which you can sort by decades on FanGraphs. I saw that ESPN released an NFL version of this, and figured baseball might be fun. So here's my crack at a 25-man roster based on the 2010s, with a heavy focus on WAR:

Ca - Buster Posey
1B - Joey Votto
2B - Robinson Cano
3B - Adrian Beltre
SS - Troy Tulowitzki
LF - Andrew McCutchen
CF - Mike Trout
RF - Giancarlo Stanton
DH - Miguel Cabrera

Bn - Yadier Molina
Bn - Francisco Lindor
Bn - Josh Donaldson
Bn - Ben Zobrist
Bn - Mookie Betts

SP - Clayton Kershaw
SP - Max Scherzer
SP - Justin Verlander
SP - Chris Sale
SP - Zack Greinke

RP - Aroldis Chapman
RP - Kenley Jansen
RP - Craig Kimbrel
RP - David Robertson
RP - Dellin Betances
RP - Greg Holland

That's a helluva team. I'm excited for nobody to see this thread.

Tulo and Zobrist surprised me, wouldn't have guessed they'd make it. Holland too, to a lesser extent.
Zobrist, Tulowitzki, and Lindor were bumped up a bit to make a more realistic team. Zobrist was 16th (!) in WAR for the decade, so I pushed him up over guys like Goldschmidt, Longoria, and Russell Martin (!) because he made more sense on the bench.

Tulowitzki led all SS in WAR for the decade, and Lindor was second. I put both because teams almost always have a true SS on the bench. If Zobrist covers that role well-enough, the highest ranked guys that I skipped are, in order:
  1. Paul Goldschmidt
  2. Evan Longoria
  3. Jonathan Lucroy
  4. Russell Martin
  5. Jose Bautista
  6. Bryce Harper
  7. Jose Altuve
  8. Ian Kinsler
  9. Freddie Freeman
  10. Christian Yelich
Edit: And Holland was fifth in WAR among relievers. That's almost entirely due to his ludicrous 2011 to 2014 stretch, where he had a 1.86 ERA in 256.1 IP
