Credit to Tal-IGN via KBLegolas. This is a revised version of the original FAQ/Fan Breakdown in order to better represent the Basketball Board as of 5/20/2013. The majority of the information is from the old thread which can be found here. Also, I'll only make a photo album if there's some contribution.

Welcome to the IGN Basketball Board. We are basically a community of fans of the game of basketball. We all have our individual teams that we have come to love, and our rivals who we have come to hate. It's important that while these teams might be rivals to someone here, they could be someone else's favorite team, so let's keep this in mind so thing's don't get out of hand.
Here are some basic rules that will help you fit in:
  1. Please think before posting. The same rule could be applied anywhere else on IGN, but we try to be as mature as possible here. That means no name-calling, no bashing, no flaming and no low-blows about other teams or players. It usually serves just to piss people off and provoke a negative response in return, and is bannable.
  2. Rivalries are good between teams, but don't be an ass about it when talking to others.
  3. A daily game thread will be created, which is used as a place to discuss the night's games. Along with this, feel free to use Team Threads to discuss special achievements that a team or player might have achieved during a course of a game. This helps cut down on repetitive posts and redundancy, as decided by the majority of the community here.
  4. If you partake in an icon/signature bet, please make sure you're willing to change your icon for the week if you end up losing the bet. Betting for cash or tangible items will not be allowed here.
  5. BAD MAN threads have strict rules to them. To those who don't know what these are, BAD MAN threads are allowed to be posted a maximum of ONCE per night to those players who truly DESERVE IT. What do they have to do to deserve it? They have to put up a blockbuster performance. Not a good one, not a great one, but an UNBELIEVABLE one to earn a Bad Man thread. You can read some of the guidelines in more details below the rules.
  6. Video Game discussion is welcome, but this board isn't really for the Basketball video games out there. The console boards are best suited for major video game discussion, or if you want to get a league up and running for one. We usually only have a few threads on video games here.
  7. Fantasy sports are a welcome topic here, but we don't want to flood the front page with rate my team threads, or threads asking for help on their team.
  8. Use common sense with the topics you post. Don't repost the same thing someone posted already or post an overdone topic like "Who's the best Center in the NBA"?
  9. You'll gain a lot more respect on this board if you respect others, especially the regs who were here long before you. A quick way to become disliked on this board is by disrespecting those who have solid ground in here.
  10. Do not make game related threads outside of the official game threads, they will just end up getting locked and are a waste of space.
  11. Please, please, please don't bump extremely old topics - especially if that topic has absolutely no relevance to anything TODAY. It just serves to piss people off on the boards.
  12. If you encounter a problem with a user on the thread or get into an argument/flame war with him, your best option would be to report him. You lashing back at him puts yourself as well as him at risk of getting banned, while you not saying anything back to him and just reporting him protects you.
Official Team Threads
So, what are Team Threads? They're basically threads that fans of a particular team can go to to talk among themselves and share their similar, or even opposing views on the team or players on the team. Often, many people use these threads to discuss games that are currently being played on that night, along with the Daily Thread that is created nightly. This is perfectly fine, and it encourages discussion even further. If there is a team that does not have a team thread yet and you're a fan of the team who feels there should be a thread, feel free to make it, and let me know as well so I can add it to the list below.
Links will be added here as Team Discussion Threads are made for this season. If you have made a thread and would like it added, please post the link. No duplicate threads, please.
Other Official Threads
BAAAAAAAAAD MAN THREAD RULES!
  1. Player must have an performance OUT OF THE ORDINARY with UNBELIEVABLE stats. Bad man threads are meant to be RARE, not a nightly issue.
  2. It doesn't matter if the guy scored 75 points if it is a loss. A loss is not bad man worthy.
  3. Also, these should only be made when the player does something out of the extraordinary for them or makes a game winning shot/play ON TOP of an above average night.
  4. Also, this is the regular season and BAAAAAAD MAN was born in the playoffs I believe and was meant to show when someone had a huge game that shifted the momentum in the series so to get it in the regular season it has to be something truly above and beyond whats seen every night in the league.
  5. Examples:
    • Dwight puts up 30 points and 10 rebounds = Not a BAAAAAD MAN
    • Dwight puts up 40 points, 20 rebounds, contains Gasol, his team wins, and he pops a molly on the court and doesn't even sweat = That's BAAAAAD
    • Durant scoring under 50 = Not BAAAAAD MAN
    • Durant scoring 55+ on 45%+ shooting, a solid amount of rebounds and a few assists on his way to a win = BAAAAAAAD MAN
  6. In order to maintain the validity of this milestone, the b5109 has a BAAAAAD MAN committee. This committee consists of Lakerfan000102, King_0f_Titans, whodahellruu, lipiti, and phenom4life25. This committee will review the performance and make a decision as to whether the performance is BAAAAAAAD MAN material.
  7. As of the 2013 season and beyond, all approved BAAAAAAD MAN will be recorded here inside of this thread.
  8. Please use BAD MAN threads with discretion. BM threads thought of as useless will be locked by moderators with no arguments. These threads were created to have meaning. A BAD MAN on a nightly basis, or even weekly basis, will lose meaning. Please follow these rules carefully and don't let these threads get out pf hand like they have in previous seasons.

Rules Regarding Milestone Threads
You can post a milestone thread here if you either hit 1k, 5k, 10k, 20k, or 50k - in other words, every time you acquire a new star. Also, you need to add something to your post that relates to basketball, something other than you saying that you're posting this here because you're a "member of this community". Maybe a post about a specific player and some pictures to go along with it, or whatever you want related to basketball - professional or college. Doesn't matter.
If you don't want to do this, your other alternative would be posting it on another community board, or the Sports Community Board. I just thought I'd make it clear, because I don't want to lock milestone posts... I don't like doing it since it signifies a... well... a milestone in post count. Just add something basketball related to it with pics or whatever and you'll be set.

Q: Why are the posts consistently deleted from this thread?
A: Because it's easier to manage and find out where I've left off to delete the posts. Otherwise it'd take a long time to sift through 5-10 pages of teams. It's just easier for me (or another mod) to update the thread when there's less clutter in front of me (or us).


NOTE: Please only post with your favorite team ONCE. Don't make constant replies asking "when is this going to be updated?!" and "I already posted, but so and so is my favorite team, please update." If you need to remind us to update, do it in a PM, not here. That only makes the thread more cluttered and harder to update.

Yep. Some have more than one time they want to associate themselves with so their fandom is split in half.
