NASCAR takes a page from Formula 1

So, This weekend, Nascar used a brand new qualifying format for the Sprint Cup Series.


Knockout style Qualifying.

i guess Nascar liked what Formula 1 was doing....

Well the qualifying is the most entertaining part of the Formula 1 but how well with that work with like 40 cars on track?

Aside from some overheating issues, resulting in what some drivers thought to be wasted time, it worked just fine.

I watched some qualifying when they were in Phoenix and noticed it was a lot different than usual. In one of the sessions, there was a good two minutes left and no one was on the track and when time expired, D.W. was praising NASCAR on how great and exciting qualifying was. If that's excitement in NASCAR now a days then I don't miss NASCAR.
