I'm updating message count for everyone who had posts on the old boards. The first step was to update all the old posts attached to "legacyAccount" that actually belong to someone here. I finished that last week. Since the initial migration, there has been a temporary adjustment to estimate the total message count. @mtougeron just removed that, which is why the counts dropped. You should be seeing only the posts from the new boards for the moment. That paves the way for the final step, which is to go back and count up your old posts that had been assigned to legacyAccount, and add it all up. I'm working on that now. I'll update when it's all done.

I went back through this with @mtougeron, and we have a fix that will get most people back to where they should be. In the update last week we relied primarily on post counts from the old boards, since that is where most of the history is. While the new boards were in beta we didn't have thorough tracking of post counts. People who had a lot of activity in the old boards basically lost their post count during the beta since it was less reliable. Now that the dust has settled we verified that we can safely add in the delta from the beta.

I validated the math with expected post counts, generously provided by people in other threads. Reading right-to-left: current is the count in the database now, target is the approximate correct count as reported by each member, and final is the result of current+delta. So final is what you'll end up with later today when the update is finished (plus whatever you post between now and then, since this report is an hour old). We will never know if the final number is your "real" post count, but it's pretty close for most people.

Most people will get small additions of less than 100 posts. Only the most active people, like some of those above, will get additions in the thousands.

And none of this applies to noobs like me who had most of their activity in the new boards. We kept those post counts in the first update, since that's all we had. I'll post again when this update is finished running.
