Gamecube was a weird console in that it went kiddy for some franchises, Mario unfortunately being one of them. I don't know when it happened, but seemingly they were content with keeping the Mario Franchise as mission-orientated as possible save for Paper Mario. Which Thousand Year Door did a good job of keeping fresh but only for so long. The collectibles kept m busy and my mind off the fact I would be playing my final Mario game.
Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64 were cool b/c they were a bit realistically, and with the Gamecube, Double Dash was a huge step back in the graphics department. If anything, Mario Kart 8 is what double Dash coulda possibly been except I feel it could have been even better!
HUGE MISTAKE NINTENDO!
