So in New Super Mario Bros U, you can use the Gamepad ONLY for one player mode. In multiplayer mode you have to use regular controllers or Wiimotes. I can't combine Gamepad with Wiimotes, for example.

Anyone know if this is going to be the same for MK8? Or can I actually use 1 gamepad and 3 Pro controllers for 4-player mode?

I have the game, and you can use any combination of any of the supported controllers. Therefore, you can use the gamepad, and someone else can use a Wii Wheel, and someone else can use a Pro Controller.

The only thing I don't like is that the person on the gamepad can't have a dedicated screen for their part of the multiplayer screen; it displays the split screen view on the gamepad, which is mind boggling.
