Lego Harry Potter Year 7, part 2 - Snape's Tears... HELP!

For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to defeat the troll at the stage where he has the large magnifing glass.... when you go toward him he hits the ground and then you are pushed back... I'm hopelessly stuck... can anyone help? Thanks a million!

As Harry, equip the invisibility cloak and sneak past. Cut to the right just beside the troll and investigate what's in that area... I forget exactly what you have to do, but you end up creating a distraction that lets all the characters get by.
