- Tip #1: According to most of the people here, there is no SSJ4 Goku in Budokai. I have heard from a LOT of other sites that SSJ4 Goku is an alternate costume you can select when you have beaten the entire story, world tournament with all characters, etc.

- Tip #2: To keep from being shoved out of the ring in the World Tourney, side step! Guard + Up or Down.

- Tip #3: Power up! Guard + left or right [away from opponent]

- Tip #4: While fighting against most opponents, I have found that the combos aren't worth the effort and simply drain your ki. I use the basics. Punch, kick, guard, and a KameHameHa Wave every now and then.

To unlock adept and advanced WT modes, you have to beat the story mode, win the tournament before the one you wish to unlock, and buy the Adept (or Advanced) capsule at Popo's shop.

A great deal of the game is practice and timing. Come to think of it, that's why they put in a "PRACTICE" mode, isn't it?

If you don't have BT (breakthru) capsules, find a move that you can do easy enough (for me, that would be just about any energy blast and any PPKKE combo), and double up on it. After that, it's a matter of timing.

Timing is 75% of the battle.

To unlock Hercule, win the Adept tournament. To unlock Gt. Saiyaman (sp?) win the Advanced tournament.

If the capsule that you're looking for isn't there, go in and out of Popo's shop until it show's up under "Recommended". Either that, or gamble your heart out with the other capsules.

BTW... how many times can you use the dragonballs once you have them all (say, i use them, get a BT capsule, then they disappear. How many MORE times can i get/use them?)?

How do I get dragonballs? I always assumed they were under Support Capsules in Popo's shop, but I spent a shyteload of Zeni buying Support Capsules, and none came.

After winning capsules in Storymode, do I have to buy them again to be able to use them for customizing my character?

How come Teen Gohan can't go SSJ2 in WT, even tho I have beaten storymode twice?

Same for Trunks and Vegeta. Why can't they go Super mode?

How do I get dragonballs?

You start with the 4 star. I found one going back through story mode once. Other than that, i think you either have to gamble for them, or go in and out of Popo's Shop until they show up under "Recommended"

After winning capsules in Storymode, do I have to buy them again to be able to use them for customizing my character?

No, but if you want more, you either have to get lucky in story mode or buy them at the shop.

How come Teen Gohan can't go SSJ2 in WT, even tho I have beaten storymode twice?

Same for Trunks and Vegeta. Why can't they go Super mode?

You're probably using Normal Mode... try customizing them to where they can, just don't forget the requirements.

I bought Adept mode before I beat Novice... and when you say beat the Novice mode... do you mean with all characters, or just one?

And about the DragonBalls... I played through all of Story mode.. and only have the 4 star ball... I've bought quite a few capsules from Popo... probably about 100,000 zenie worth. Most were recommended.. some were gamble. I haven't seen dragon balls in either one... and the gamble capsules I get always suck. Never get any new ones from there.

RE: IGN DBZ Board Budokai FAQ

Q. Which support capsules should I add to my tray?

A. If you have a non-transforming character (Tien) then I recommend using Gero's Perpetual Energy capsule, it allows you to stay at Lv. 7 throughout the fight, so you can win easier (for cheap victory, used your PPPPE attack a lot). Also, a 1/3 senzu bean is a must in every tray. I have been in a lot of Tournament matches where I get killed because I was trying to stay away from the edge of the ring. The 1/3 senzu bean allows you to recover and re-start in the middle of the ring! Another good capsule for a quick victory is "Rage" because your attack is raised for 20 seconds and you can do a lot of damage in that time. Want another cheap trick, equp "Viral Heart Disease" and "Vaccine". That way, your opponents health drains, but yours doesnt. The downside, less room in your tray.

you can get the dragonballs as many times as you like. BUT when you get all of the breakthrough capsules you cant summon shenron again. you can collect the dragonballs but they just sit there.... or at least thats what i heard

The 3-4 times i've won the Advanced i had to use a custom character, and it was either Goku or Vegita.

They looked something like...

Goku:
1/3 Senzu Bean
2x Warp Kamehameha
Gero's Perpetual Energy R&D
Ki Flash

No idea why the Ki Flash is in there... one of those "just for the hell of it" things, i think.

Vegita:
1/3 Senzu Bean
2x Final Flash
Gero's Perpetual Energy R&D
Galik Gun

A lot of it was sidestepping to stay in the middle of the ring, and dodging the attacks. Considering that the Final Flash and Warps are fairly powerful in their own right (not to mention, use the same button configurations of PPKKE) it was a matter of finding an opening, and whipping out the attacks.

As for the previous quesiton... unlocking different modes/characters... not to my knowledge.

The only way to really see to get what you want is by entering and exiting Popo's shop until the one you want appears.

Everything else requires a certain probability. Thus, with gamble, story mode, and other capsules, there's no guarantee that you'll get what you want.

x= block
tri=kick

Q: the computers always ring me out whats the best way to get them out fast and you not out?

A: press x and up or down at the same time to side step so you stay away from the out side of the ring.

Q: how do I power up?

A: hold the x button then pres the d pad button the one away from your opponent once then hold.

Q: I got all 7 dragon balls and then used the breakthrough on trunks but nothing seemed to happen. What the hell is it because it took me forever to get those damn dragon balls. Could someone help me out here.

A: It's a capsule you have to put in your tray... it gives you all of his moves at twice the strength as normal.

Q: how do I get Hercule and saiyaman?

A: Beat Adept World Tourney to get Hercule then beat advanced wt to get saiyaman

After winning the Novice World Tournament, the capsule to unlock the Adept World Tournament will appear under Mr. Popo's ''Recommended'' capsule.
The same also happens for the Advanced World Tournament after winning the Adept.

To Unlock the Cell Side Story, clear all the episodes in the Android Saga, after that 2 new episodes will become available that allows you to play as Cell. Now you'll see Cell's Perfection come true...sort of..

Defeat Cell in story mode to unlock cell

Beat Frieza with Vegeta in story mode to get Dodoria

Unlock Frieza Defeat Frieza in Story Mode

Unlock Frieza Side Story To Unlock Frieza's side story, clear all the episodes in the Namekian Saga, then you will unlock 2 new episodes that you play as Frieza. Now you will see what happens if Frieza defeated Goku in the series.

Unlock Ginyu To Unlock Ginyu, defeat him in your 2nd Encounter with him after he takes Goku's Body in Story Mode

Unlock Legend of Hercule Mode Beat Adept level for World Tournament mode. You'll then be able to buy Legend of Hercule mode from Mr. Popo's shop

Unlock Nappa Beat Nappa in Story Mode to unlock him

Unlock Raditz To Unlock Raditz, beat Raditz in Story Mode

Unlock Vegeta Side-Quest Beat story mode once and a side quest will unlock with vegeta on earth. You must defeat the Z-fighters from his perspective

Unlock Zarbon Beat Zarbon with Vegeta in story mode

Unlock #16, #17, #18, #19 Simplely defeat them in the Andriod Saga to unlock them in vs mode

1. Intro

This FAQ/Walkthrough is about the Dragonball Z game: Legendary Super Warriors.
It is a very good RPG, with a beautiful story which runs from the Saiyan saga
until the Buu saga. It is a RPG, but you don't have to walk a lot, only in
maps, where you have to find something or talk to someone. But it is an RPG
because you will raise your characters levels by winning battles and also you
can collect many cool attacks(in form of cards). So if you ask me this is an
fantastic game, better than: the Legacy of Goku, and it's sure worth buying.
That before, now let's start with the real work: the FAQ/Walkthrough!

NOTE: The card with a * standing before it stands for best choice. To unlock
people, like I mention in this walkthrough it is best to save the game before
you fight a battle. If you may lose it it is best to reset your game boy, and
continue with your last save. If I mention something else in the story special
than do that instead of resetting the game boy. The guideline I follow is to
unlock all Z-Warriors in the first game, and the fastest way. So if you keep
on every step from this walkthrough, you will get Vegeta in story8, Piccolo in
story9 and of course Piccolo Daimou and SSJ3 Goku. But you will see it in your
own game by the time.

Intro
======
So long ago, no one knows. Sacred stones came to our world. If 7 are collected
a dragon appears. The Dragon is able to grant a single wish! These stones are
Dragonballs. Now a quest for them has begun. There is a boy called Gohan. His
is to be a scientist. He lived happily with his parents.
Until...

A man appeared. He said he was the brother of Goku, Gohan's father! This man,
Raditz said Goku's real name was Kakarot. He also said Goku was a Saiyan from
the planet Vegeta. Raditz asked Goku to join him. The Saiyans' work is selling
planets. They eliminate any opposition. When Goku rejected Raditz offer...
Raditz took Gohan as his hostage. Goku prepared to fight for Gohan. But Raditz
was terribly strong. Goku gave the best he had, but it wasn't enough. But they
defeated Raditz with Goku's sacrifice. He got killed along with Raditz by
Piccolo's Special Beam Canon. After that Piccolo took Gohan along to train for
the even more stronger upcoming Saiyans.

Story1: Evil Mentor! Gohans' Training
======================================
Now you will control Gohan in a map. This is his training, and you must listen
carefully to Piccolo all time to learn the game basics. First go to Piccolo and
talk to him. Now he will explain how you have to fight. Alternate between
attack and guard. Attacking is known as the attack phase. Guarding is the
defence phase. In a turn you get both an attack and a guard phase. The battles
are based on using cards. Now he gives you a 3 stage atk. Then press start to
see the system screen. You can check your cards by selecting list. Talk to
Piccolo once again. Then he will tell about the type of cards there are in the
game. There are five kinds of cards. Command cards for basic attacks. Damage
and beam cards for mega attacks. Guard cards for avoiding/reducing damage.
Support cards to give you a battle advantage. Now he will explain about
command cards.

Command cards: Input commands in the time limit. You need to save up card cost
to use this card. About card cost: The points needed for attack, beam, guard
and support cards. Attacks are able by saving up enough CC(card cost).

Now he will ask you to get a jar for him. By each jar you find, you will get
a question. These questions you must answer correct in order to unlock Piccolo
in story9. So head for the first jar.

The jar question will be: What about the cost of using a command card?
Answer: Save

After you answered you get a 4 stage atk. which is a command card. Now you
must head back for Piccolo, and talk to him again. Piccolo will go on
explaining about winning a match. Attack is used to defeat an enemy. The cards
you can use in the attack phase are limited. You can only use the command,
damage, beam and support cards in this phase. So no guard. This time you will
have to get two jars for Piccolo. So two questions.

The upper jar question will be: Which phase can a damage card be used in?
Answer: Attack

You will receive a Cont. Punch after you answered the question, then go to the
other jar, a little bit beneath.

The lower jar question will be: What cards can be used in the attack phase?
Answer: Beam

You will receive a Energy Bomb after you answered the question, and now you
have to go back to Piccolo and talk to him once again.

Now Piccolo will start explaining about the defence phase. The cards that are
only usable in the defence phase are: support cards and guard cards. So you
see you can use support cards in as well defence as attack phase. But the
effects of cards will be different in the different phases. So look what is
best for yourself to use one. So don't give up a battle, even when your guard
may fail you. The higher CC you have, the more change you have to change the
battle stats in the battle self. So never give up, even when it looks like
your losing. Then it is time to get another two cards for Piccolo. So again
two questions.

The most left jar question will be: Which phase can a guard card be used in?
Answer: Defence

You will receive an Endurance after you answered the question, and then it is
time to get to the last jar.

The most right jar question will be: What about support cards?
Answer: OK

After that you will receive a Reading Ki, than it is time to go to Piccolo for
the last time. Talk to Piccolo and he will talk you through again, only this
time quickly. So to urn CC you have to use command cards. Use CC to be able
to use mega attacks like beam and damage. So now your ready for battle. The he
asks you to get your training started. Answer yes to get further in the game.
After doing that he will let you choose the deck that you would like. Choose
between Beam and Defeat. I love the Defeat deck, because it gives you some
cards quicker and you will have better chances to win the story mode quicker.
But it is your own choice. After that you will fight versus Piccolo to be
ready for the upcoming Saiyans.

Gohan vs Piccolo

STRATEGY
=========
Best limits for Gohan for this fight:

Beam deck: 006 Cont. Kick------->Damage Card
010 Masenko---------->Beam Card

Defeat deck: 011 Dunk Shot-------->Damage Card
012 Kamehameha------->Beam Card

Strategy: you may attack first in this battle, use a lot of 4/3 stage atk. in
the beginning. Don't use any defence cards from your hand, because you don't
really need them. When you are in the defence phase for the first time, then
go into the air. When Piccolo is using gather power, do the same. Piccolo will
use after gathering power first a 4 stage atk. so you use a Foresight if you
have any. Next you must use your beam card when Piccolo is in the air or your
damage card when Piccolo is on the ground. Then Piccolo's next attack turn he
will use his S.Beam Can. you can block that one with a Avoiding, if you don't
have one than use an Endurance. Then you must do the same attack like before,
if that is not possible use the 4 stage atk. Now Piccolo should have low HP,
so finish him of with everything you have left.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choices:
*005 Cont. Punch
084 Chiaotzu
087 Kaio

Defeat deck choices:
008 Energy Bomb
*086 Yajirobe
087 Kaio

story2: The Fierce Saiyan! Gohan's Deathmatch
==============================================
Nappa and Vegeta will now arrive on Earth. They will immediatelly destroy a
city, and now they are heading to you. When Gohan and Piccolo are waiting for
the Saiyans, Krillin will show up. He will say that Tien, Yamcha and Chao-Zu
also going to help. Then the Saiyans arrive, Nappa will now fight versus Tien,
Yamcha and Chao-Zu. They will all die. Now Vegeta will sense the energy from
Goku and commands Nappa to kill Piccolo, Krillin and Gohan quickly. When Nappa
tries to kill Gohan, Piccolo will jump before Gohan as his guard. After
Piccolo dies Gohan will go insane and will fight versus Nappa.

Gohan vs Nappa

STRATEGY
=========
Best limits for Gohan for this fight:

Beam deck: 006 Cont. Kick------->Damage Card
010 Masenko---------->Beam Card

Defeat deck: 011 Dunk Shot-------->Damage Card
012 Kamehameha------->Beam Card

Strategy: first start again with some 4/3 stage atk. In your first defence
phase go into the air again. After a while Nappa will gather power just like
Piccolo did in your previous fight. You must now also use gather power. Next
use a Foresight if you have any to block Nappa's 4 stage atk. Next you must
use the damage card when Nappa is on the ground or your beam card when Nappa
is in the air. Next attack turn of Nappa, he will use a Lightning Can. so
dodge it with a Avoiding if you have one, otherwise use a Endurance. Nappa
should be on a low HP by now, so use some more 4/3 stage atk. and then defeat
him with some Energy Bomb, Energy Wave, Cont. Punch and whatever cards you
got in your hand.

After you won the fight, Gohan will level up.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choices:
012 Kamehameha
*019 Taiyoken
121 Endurance

Defeat deck choices:
012 Kamehameha
*019 Taiyoken
121 Endurance

story3: Beyond the Limits! Goku vs Vegeta
==========================================
After the fight versus Nappa, Gohan is about to get killed by Nappa but then
Goku arrives. He will get easily dispose of Nappa, but will not kill him. Then
Vegeta is going to prepare for battle, first he kills Nappa, then he will
fight versus Goku. This will be your next fight. When you got Goku's cards,
first put the 4 stage atk. in your deck.

Goku vs Vegeta

STRATEGY
=========
Best limits for Goku for this fight:

Beam deck: 006 Cont. Kick-------->Damage Card
013 S.Kamehameha------>Beam Card
023 Kaio Ken---------->Support Card

Defeat deck: 012 Kamehameha-------->Beam Card
023 Kaio Ken---------->Support Card
025 Solid Shot-------->Damage Card

Strategy: first start again with some 4/3 stage atk. then when you get the
chance go into the air. Then when Vegeta uses gather power do the same. Then
your next defence turn use Foresight, because Vegeta is going to use a
5 stage atk. Next in your attack use the Kaio Ken. Then when you must defence
again use an Avoiding if you have any, otherwise an Endurance, because Vegeta
uses a Galick-Ho. Then your next attack turn use the damage card when Vegeta
is on the ground and the beam when he is in the air. Now Vegeta should have
less than the 1/2 HP, now go on with the 4/3 stage atk. After a while Vegeta
will use gather power again. Then do the same with him if you have some CC.
Then use again a Foresight if you have any, then use a 4 stage atk. Next use
a Avoiding or Endurance again, for the Galick-Ho. Next attack turn use the
attack you need to kill Vegeta in this battle.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choices:
006 Cont. Punch
*024 Spirit Bomb
124 Shockwave

Defeat deck choices:
006 Cont. Punch
*024 Spirit Bomb
124 Shockwave

story4: Time for a Miracle! The Saiyan Gohan
==============================================
Now you will be on a map, first go a little bit down and find Yajirobes Sword,
than talk to Krillin and answer YES, next find the Kaio card lying right to
the former position of Krillin. Now you have to go to Yajirobe and give him
his sword back. Than you will receive an Endurance card(beam deck) or an
Chiaotzu card(defeat deck). Vegeta will now appear and fight you. Choose Gohan
if you wish to unlock Vegeta in story8.

Best limits for Gohan for this fight:

Beam deck: 006 Cont. Kick------->Damage Card
010 Masenko---------->Beam Card

Defeat deck: 011 Dunk Shot-------->Damage Card
012 Kamehameha------->Beam Card

Strategy: Start with using a 3stage atk, now go into the air in your first
defense phase. Then keep using your 4/3 stage atk. in the upcoming attack
phases. After a while you will see that Vegeta uses gather power, then your
next attack phase use also gather power. Now in your following defence phase
use a Foresight or an Yajirobe card, to block his 5 stage atk. Next attack
phase use the beam attack if Vegeta is in the air or the damage attack when he
is on the ground. The next defence phase you have to use an Avoiding the best
to dodge his Destruc.-Disk or his Galick-Ho. If you don't have one, than use
an Endurance or a Yajirobe card. Next attack turn use the 4 stage atk. You
must keep this strategy up, until you have about 40 CC loss. Then keep
attacking Vegeta with all you got like: Cont. Kick, Cont. Punch, Energy Wave,
Energy Bomb, Dunk Shot and the rest. If you have some defence cards, only use
them when Vegeta uses gather power, or when you almost are winning and are low
on HP. Cause that are the times that they like to attack all of a sudden. But
by this way you should win.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choices:
085 Tien
117 Full Spirit
*125 Avoiding

Defeat deck choices:
085 Tien
118 Afterimage
*125 Avoiding

Story5: Launch Into Space! The Hope of Namek
=============================================
After Vegeta is beaten Gohan, Krillin and Bulma go to Namek, in search of the
Dragonballs. When they arrived on Namek they immediately spot a strong power,
that is Freeza, the strongest being in the unniverse. But Gohan and Krillin
decide to not disturb him, and just go searching for the Dragonballs. Now you
are on a map. First go to the Namekian house, there you will find a Dende card
it is best if you put it in your deck immediately. Then find the Dragonball
at the lake, next Nail shows up and attacks you. Now you have to dodge his
attack by simple choose a way, right or left.

Left cards: Endurance(defeat deck) or Full Spirit(beam deck)
Right cards: Afterimage(defeat deck) or Shockwave(beam deck)

After that the Ginyu Force arrives and you have to fight first versus Guldo.
Krillin will now join your party, and is available from now on. If you choose
for the Defeat deck in the begin of the game, Krillin will give you a 4 stage
atk. when he joins you. But if you want to unlock Vegeta in story8 choose
Gohan for this battle.

Gohan vs Guldo

STRATEGY
=========
Best limits for Gohan for this fight:

Beam deck: 006 Cont. Kick------->Damage Card
010 Masenko---------->Beam Card

Defeat deck: 011 Dunk Shot-------->Damage Card
012 Kamehameha------->Beam Card

Strategy: Start with a 4/3 stage atk. then your next turn go into the air.
Keep using stage atk. until you see that Guldo does a gather power, next
attack turn do the same. Now in your upcoming defence turn use a Foresight,
Telepathy or a Yajirobe card to block his 5 stage atk. Now use in your
upcoming attack turn your damage attack if Guldo is on the air, or the beam
attack if he is in the air. The follow defence turn use a Avoiding to dodge
his Telekinesis. If you don't have one than use an Endurance card. Now use
the damage attack if he in on the ground, or the beam attack if he is in the
air again. Guldo should now be low on HP, so start using a lot of stage atk.
and do sometimes an attack like: Cont. Punch, Energy Bomb etc. If you run
low on HP use the Dende card, Guldo's fight is not that hard. So use
everything you got to win from him.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choices:
007 Energy Wave
012 Kamehameha
*020 Misty KiWave

Defeat deck choices:
*006 Cont. Kick
087 Kaio
096 Scouter

Story6: Recoome's Attack! Strong and Evil
==========================================
After Guldo is defeated the other Ginyu members start talking about luck and
send Recoome on Vegeta. Vegeta got easily defeated and then heads for Gohan
and Krillin, now you have to fight him.

Gohan vs Recoome

STRATEGY
=========
Best limits for Gohan for this fight:

Beam deck: 006 Cont. Kick------->Damage Card
010 Masenko---------->Beam Card

Defeat deck: 011 Dunk Shot-------->Damage Card
012 Kamehameha------->Beam Card

Strategy: You will start with a defence turn, because Recoome is way quicker
and stronger than you. In that turn go into the sky. Next attack turn use a
4/3 stage atk. Keep using the 4/3 stage atk. until Recoome uses gather power.
Next attack turn do the same, now in your defence turn use a Foresight,
Telepathy or Yajirobe card to block his 5 stage atk. Next attack turn use
your beam attack if he is in the air or the damage attack if he stands on
the ground. Now if you are still in the air use the Avoiding to dodge his
Eraser Canon. Or an Endurance. If you are on the ground he uses the R.F.B.
Attack so then use only a Endurance card and not the Avoiding. Next attack
turn use the 4 stage atk. to win some CC back. Now go on with the 4/3 stage
atk. and when Recoome uses gather power again use the same strategy again as
I called earlier. But better use this time 2times an full charge attack.
Like the beam attack and the damage attack. And when you run low on health
use the Dende card. Recoome should be very low on health himself now, so
start using all you have like: Energy Wave, Energy Bomb, Cont. Kick, Cont.
Punch and Yajirobe. After doing all this you should have won.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choices:
*021 Destruc-Disk
087 Kaio
117 Full Spirit

Defeat deck choices:
012 Kamehameha
*089 Guru
107 Btl.Jacket

Story7: Red and Blue Orbs! Jeice and Burter
============================================
Gohan and Krillin are both taken out by Recoome, and Recoome wants to make an
end to their pain. But before he gets an chance to kill them someone shows up
and asks Recoome to fight him instead. It's Goku! Recoome tries to attack the
improved Saiyan, but he takes him down with one single blow. After Jeice and
Burter see that Goku is that powerful they don't want to take any risk. So
they team up and fight like a tag team. This battle also allows you to use two
chars instead of one.

Goku & Gohan vs Jeice & Burter

STRATEGY
=========
In slot 1: Goku

Best limits for Goku for this fight:

Beam deck: 019 Taiyoken---------->Guard Card
023 Kaio Ken---------->Support Card
024 Spirit Bomb------->Beam Card

Defeat deck: 019 Taiyoken---------->Guard Card
023 Kaio Ken---------->Support Card
024 Spirit Bomb------->Beam Card

In slot 2: Gohan

Best limits for Gohan for this fight:

Beam deck: 006 Cont. Kick------->Damage Card
010 Masenko---------->Beam Card

Defeat deck: 011 Dunk Shot-------->Damage Card
012 Kamehameha------->Beam Card

Strategy: In the begin of the fight you have to use a guard, because it is
best to stay on the ground in this battle. You will first fight versus Jeice.
Next attack phase use a 3/4 stage atk. Keep using stage atk. all the time, so
you will get a lot of CC. When you see that Jeice uses gather power you have
to look at your own CC. Best is to use gather power yourself right away. But
then next defence turn. If you have at least 42 CC you may use the Kaio Ken,
so you can use a very strong Spirit Bomb after. But if you have lower CC don't
do it, or you may kill yourself. Cause Jeice will use a very strong attack
later. But for now he will only use a 5 stage atk. If you had done a Kaio Ken
before, now use the Spirit Bomb. If not than use a 4 stage atk. Now your in a
critical phase. If you don't have any defence cards your most of the time
history. Use a Avoiding if you have it, cause they are going to use a
P. Comet Z. a very powerful move. So if you don't have a Avoiding, than use a
Endurance. If you don't have it either go to the ground if you’re not on it, to
receive as low damage as can without using a defence card. Now look at your
CC, if it is high enough about 35 then use gather power again. Then next
defence phase a Kaio Ken, and next attack phase a Spirit Bomb. Jeice should
be very low on health now. If you may run low on health yourself use the Dende
card whenever possible. Make sure Goku survives Jeice. If Jeice is very low on
health start using all attacks you have like: Cont. Kick, Cont. Punch etc. If
Jeice uses gather power than keep sharp. Next defence phase use a Foresight to
block his 5 stage atk. and the upcoming defence phase again a Avoiding, or
Endurance. To block/dodge his P. Comet Z. Then you should be able to kill
Jeice. Then Burter comes out. Burter will use probably a gather power right
away. Than do the same in your next attack phase. Then use a Taiyoken to
block Burter's Mach Attack. He uses it most of the time two turns, so use two
defence phases the Taiyoken. And when you reach 35 CC immediately use gather
power. And use a Kaio Ken next defence phase, and a Spirit Bomb upcoming
attack phase. Burter will run lower on health. But Goku will probably die soon.
Try to get 5 CC at least and now only use stage atk. with Goku. If Burter uses
gather power go with him. And use a Taiyoken in defence phase and 4 stage atk.
in attack phase. When Goku dies Gohan will take his place. For Gohan, only use
gather power when Burter does, or when Burter is low on health. For Gohan is
almost the same as Goku, but never use a Avoiding on Burter, cause he never
uses beams. Only his Mach Attack and the Cont. Kick. When you have used gather
power with Gohan, use the beam card when Burter is in the air, and the damage
card when Burter is on the ground. If you all this correct you will win with
no problems.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choices:
019 Taiyoken
023 Kaio Ken
*089 Guru

Defeat deck choices:
019 Taiyoken
023 Kaio Ken
*101 Gravity Dev.

Story8: The Big Duel! Cap. Ginyu Emerges
=========================================
After Goku defeated also Burter, he let's Jeice go. Jeice will go to Captain
Ginyu, and wants him to help defeating Goku. Captain Ginyu arrives and fights
with Goku. But Goku is to strong so he uses a Body Change to get Goku's body.
Then your on a map again. First talk to Krillin once. Then go to the left
upper corner of the map, and look into Vegeta's space pot. There you will find
a Btl. Jacket(defeat deck) or a Feint(beam deck). After that find the
Dragonballs at Freeza's spaceship, they are lying in the mud. Then talk to
Krillin, and he will ask to summon the dragon. Answer yes. Then Vegeta arrives
and want to wish for immortality. But then Captain Ginyu and Jeice will show
up, Goku will tell them they had switched bodies. And now you have to fight
Captain Ginyu and Jeice. Vegeta will now join you, and will give you a
Galick-Ho and a 5 stage atk. Put the 5 stage atk. into your deck.

CONTRIBUTE: SPEED BY GOHAN!

Gohan & Vegeta vs Captain Ginyu & Jeice

STRATEGY
=========
In slot 1: Gohan

Best limits for Gohan for this fight:

Beam deck: 006 Cont. Kick------->Damage Card
010 Masenko---------->Beam Card

Defeat deck: 011 Dunk Shot-------->Damage Card
012 Kamehameha------->Beam Card

In slot 2: Vegeta

Best limits for Vegeta for this fight:

Both decks: 006 Cont. Kick------->Damage Card
030 Galick-Ho-------->Beam Card

Strategy: Start with using some stage atk. so you can urn some CC. Wait for
Ginyu to power up. When he does you have to go with him, the next defence
phase use a Foresight, Telepathy or Yajirobe card to block his 5 stage atk.
Now your in a attack phase. Use the damage card when Ginyu is on the ground,
or the beam card when he is in the air. To get max damage from the attacks.
Next defence phase use a Avoiding to dodge his S.Kamehameha. If you don't have
any at the moment use a Endurance. Next attack phase use the damage card again
when he is on the ground, or the beam card when he is in the air. After that
you must do some stage atk. again to urn some CC back. After a while Ginyu
will power up again. At that time you must do the same again, so use also
gather power. Next defence phase use a Foresight, Telepathy or Yajirobe again
if you have any. Now use a 4 stage atk. in your attack phase, unless you have
about 38 CC. In that case use the damage card if he is on the ground, or the
beam card when he is in the air. Next defence phase you must use a Avoiding or
Endurance again to dodge/block his S.Kamehameha again. Make sure you kill him
quick after this try from him. So use a lot of Energy Bomb, Cont. Kick and
more. Then he dies and Jeice shows up. If you did good you will still have
Gohan as your char. So start use some stage atk. if Jeice uses gather power
do the same. But probably you will not have a lot of CC that time. Use a guard
to block his 5 stage atk. in the next defence phase. Now in your attack phase
use a 4 stage atk. Next defence phase use a Avoiding/Endurance to dodge/block
his Crash Ball. If you run low on health with Gohan just use the Dende card.
It is important to keep Gohan as long as you can in live. Use the damage card
now when Jeice is on the ground, or the beam card when he is in the air. To
lower some of his health. Now keep using a lot of stage atk. When Gohan dies
use Vegeta to clear the job. For Vegeta is the same story as Gohan. If Jeice
uses gather power do the same. Next use the Galick-Ho when Jeice is in the
air, or the Cont. Kick when Jeice is on the ground. After you did it two times
he will be death. And then you will go on in the story.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choices:
013 S.Kamehameha
*016 Resurrection
021 Destruc-Disk

Defeat deck choices:
*021 Destruc-Disk
025 Solid shot
084 Chiaotzu

Story9: The Final Battle! No Escape For You
============================================
The Ginyu Force will finally be defeated, and now the Z-warriors summon the
internal dragon called Porunga. It is the Namek dragon from the Dragonballs
and he will grant three wishes. So the Z-warriors want to wish there friends
back, but there is one to many. Than Piccolo makes a plan, first they have
to wish him back to life. That way the Earth Dragonballs will also come back
next they wish Piccolo to Namek. And before they can do their final wish Guru
dies and the dragon vanish. Than Vegeta feels a hugh power level behind him,
it's Freeza! Freeza starts to transform and comes to his final form. Then he
fights versus Vegeta and easily defeats him. And then kills him before the
eyes of Goku, therefore Goku promised Vegeta that he would kill Freeza and all
his terror. Now you have to fight versus Freeza. Piccolo will now join your
team and will give you a 5 stage atk. and a Special Beam Canon. Put the
5 stage atk. in your deck, just like you did in the previous story.

CONTRIBUTE: SPEED BY GOKU!

Goku vs Freeza

STRATEGY
=========
Best limits for Goku for this fight:

Beam deck: 019 Taiyoken--------->Guard Card
023 Kaio Ken--------->Support Card
024 Spirit Bomb------>Beam Card

Defeat deck: 019 Taiyoken--------->Guard Card
023 Kaio Ken--------->Support Card
024 Spirit Bomb------>Beam Card

Strategy: Start of with a 5/4/3 stage atk. make sure that your always on the
ground for the whole battle. Keep using stage atk. until Freeza uses gather
power. Than next attack phase also use a gather power. Next defence phase use
a Kaio Ken if you have about 40 CC. If not than use a Foresight, Telepathy or
Yajirobe. Next attack phase use the Spirit Bomb either ways. But it will have
larger effect if you did a Kaio Ken before. Next defence phase you must use
the Taiyoken to block his S.Elbow Dash. Next attack phase use a 4 stage atk.
so you can urn some CC back. Now every time that Freeza uses gather power go
with him. And when you have large CC do the Kaio Ken, Spirit Bomb combo. That
will really lower his health a lot. If you can keep this up you will win
without any problems. If you still fail, it can be handy to do a Taiyoken in
both defence phases after gathering power. But that is something you must know
for yourself.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choices:
017 S.Beam Can.
024 Spirit Bomb
*106 Light Vest

Defeat deck choices:
*015 Sonic Kick
106 Light Vest
107 Btl.Jacket

Story10: Victory is Mine! Freeza's Battle
==========================================
Freeza will be defeated by the Spirit Bomb made by Goku. All Z-warriors will
celebrate the win over Freeza. But then the evil fighter reappears again, and
shoots a beam at Piccolo, which makes him unable to fight. Next up is Krillin,
Freeza kills him without having any trouble. That makes Goku in such a rage
that he becomes a Super Saiyan(SSJ). After that he tells Gohan to leave and to
take Piccolo away back to Earth. After that your on a map. First go to the
lake a bit near Goku's spaceship, look there and you will find Captain Ginyu
in his frog form. Which he got after he wanted to steal Vegeta's body, but
Goku made it fail. Now you will get a Foresight(beam deck) or a Telepathy
(defeat deck). Next you will have to go to some scattered rocks they are lying
to the left, and a little beneath Bulma's position. Gohan will say he can't
get to the item lying there. So talk to Bulma, she will ask you to get away
from Namek and back to Earth. Answer no this time, and go back to the
scattered rocks and look again. Now you will receive a Caps. Fridge(beam deck)
or a Scouter(defeat deck) after that talk to Bulma again, and this time say
yes. After that everyone from Namek, except Goku and Freeza will be teleported
to Earth. This is be done by the Dragonballs, but now you have to fight versus
Freeza at his full power, so be prepared.

SSJ Goku vs Freeza

STRATEGY
=========
Best limits for Goku for this fight:

Beam deck: 006 Cont. Kick------->Damage Card
013 S.Kamehameha----->Beam Card
019 Taiyoken--------->Guard Card

Defeat deck: 019 Taiyoken--------->Guard Card
024 Spirit Bomb------>Beam Card
025 Solid Shot------->Damage Card

Strategy: Start the battle with using your guard. Next attack phase use a
5/4/3 stage atk. keep doing this, and always stay on the ground during this
battle. Wait for Freeza to use gather power. Than do the same the next attack
phase right away. Than in your defence phase use a Taiyoken, just in case he
uses his S.Elbow Dash. Next attack phase use only when you have 30 CC the beam
card, if you have only 26 CC use the damage card. Because you need to keep at
least 5 CC after the move. If you don't have that much just use the 4 stage
atk. Next defence phase use the Taiyoken again, because he often uses a
S.Elbow Dash two times during his power up mode. Next attack phase use the
limit attacks like there should be used if you did not in the last attack
phase. So beam when he is in the air, and the damage when he stands on the
ground. Keep doing this strategy all the way, and when you run a bit low on
health use a Dende card to re-win some. After a while you will have defeated
Freeza and his terror will be over for good.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choices:
089 Guru
*107 Btl.Jacket
123 Foresight

Defeat deck choices:
*016 Resurrection
087 Kaio
089 Guru

Story11: The Fatefull Day Fight for Future
===========================================
The Z-warriors summon after the hard battle on Namek the dragon Porunga. They
used the wishes to call there friends back to life. They lived a happy live.

Three years later...............

A boy from the future appeared. His name is Trunks and he is the son of Vegeta
and Bulma. He tells Goku about the terrible things that will happen in the
future. Goku would have died within a year from a heart decease, but Trunks
gives him a medicine. So he can survive, but he must promise Trunks to train
and become strong enough to kill the androids. Then he goes back with his time
machine. Then they are going to train to get stronger for the androids. Now
your in a map. First talk to Piccolo, than go a bit lower and to the left and
look at the rock between the trees. Next go to the lower left corner and find
him again. Now go to the lower right corner, and find him again. Now go to the
most right and up. There you will see a very brown rock, go there and find him
for the last time. Then he will give you the Dunk Shot(beam deck) or the
Masenko(defeat deck). Now you must go to Chi-Chi. She is located a bit up
where Goku stands. Talk to her and she gives you a Gravity Dev.(beam deck) or
a Light Vest(defeat deck). After that talk to Goku and the fight will begin.
He will give you a 5 stage atk. and also put this one in your deck. Now fight.

MULTIPLAYER MODE IS UNLOCKED!!!

Gohan vs Goku

STRATEGY
=========
Best limits for Gohan for this fight:

both decks: 010 Masenko---------->Beam Card
011 Dunk Shot-------->Damage Card

Strategy: You will start the battle with an attack phase. So use a 5/4/3 stage
atk. Next defence phase it is wise to go into the air. Because you can predict
Goku's limit moves with it a little bit. Keep using 5/4/3 stage atk. all of
the time, until Goku uses gather power. Next attack phase also use it. Next
defence phase use a Foresight, Telepathy or Yajirobe to block his 5 stage atk.
Next attack phase you must use the Masenko when Goku is in the air, or the
Dunk Shot when he is on the ground. That is for max damage like you must know
by now. Next defence phase you must look, are YOU in the air than use a
Avoiding because he will use a S.Kamehameha most of the time then. But when
your on the ground better to use a Endurance, cause he could than also use his
Solid Shot. Next attack phase, if you have enough CC left. Use the Masenko
when Goku is in the air, or the Dunk Shot if he is on the ground. Next thing
that is very hard on Goku is his Spirit Bomb. It is in his deck, but you never
know when he is going to use it. Most of the time, after he uses gather power
he uses it the second attack phase after. But that is something you have to
see for yourself. If you keep my strategy, and heal yourself with Dende if
needed than you should win the battle, without having that much problems.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choices:
*026 Teleport.
086 Yajirobe
119 Reading Ki

Defeat deck choices:
026 Teleport.
*099 Life Preser.
117 Full Spirit

Story12: Stealth Weapon! The Androids Revealed
===============================================
The Z-warriors will be well prepared for the upcoming androids. So they went
to the city that Trunks showed them. First there will be nothing happen, but
then with a hugh bang. The androids revealed themselves. Now you will be on a
map and must first go and get the two people in the water. Not Yajirobe yet.
Than go to the far down, and talk to Chiaotzu. If you have selected the beam
deck in the begin of the game, he will give you a Afterimage card. Next talk
to Bulma and she will give you a Caps. Fridge card if you have selected the
defeat deck. Next talk to Yajirobe and the fight versus #19 will begin.

SSJ Goku vs #19

STRATEGY
=========
Best limits for Goku for this fight:

Beam deck: 006 Cont. Kick------->Damage Card
013 S.Kamehameha----->Beam Card
026 Teleport.-------->Guard Card

Defeat deck: 019 Taiyoken--------->Guard Card
024 Spirit Bomb------>Beam Card
025 Solid Shot------->Damage Card

Strategy: Start the battle with some 5/4/3 stage atk. make sure you will get
soon much CC. When you see that #19 uses gather power do the same next attack
phase. Next defense phase use a Foresight/Telepathy or Yajirobe card to block
his 5 stage atk. Now use your beam card if #19 is in the air, or your damage
card if he is on the ground. Next defense phase use a Avoiding/Endurance in
the defeat deck, but in the beam deck use your Teleport. That way you will
block his Super E-Ball, next attack phase use again your beam if #19 is in the
air or your damage if he is on the ground. Keep doing this and #19 will be
defeated in no-time, if you ask me this was the easiest battle in the game.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choices:
085 Tien
*096 Scouter
097 Caps.Fridge

Defeat deck choices:
096 Scouter
*104 Trunks Sword
107 Btl.Jacket

Story13: Fearless No.20 Dr.Gero's Secret
=========================================
Goku finally gets his heart decease and got defeated by #19. But before #19
can finish Goku off, Vegeta will arrive. Vegeta sais he will take care of #19
and he turns into a SSJ himself. Everyone will be suprised by his SSJ form,
than Vegeta kills #19. Next up is #20, he is scared and so he flie. Next you
will go insearch for him and you will be on a map. First talk to Krillin once
and next to Vegeta, than go some up and you will see a spot between two rocks
look there and you will find Tien. He will give you a Tien card and #20 will
show himself.

SSJ Vegeta vs #20

STRATEGY
=========
Best limits for Vegeta for this fight:

Both decks: 006 Cont. Kick------->Damage Card
021 Destruc-Disk----->Beam Card

Strategy: Start with some 5/4/3 stage atk. like always, make sure that none of
them will fail. And I think it is smart to go into the air as soon as possible
when you see that #20 uses gather power, you must do the same the next attack
phase. Next defense phase use Foresight/Telepathy or a Yajirobe card to block
his 5 stage atk. Next attack phase use your Destruc-Disk if he is in the air,
or the Cont. Kick if he stands on the ground. Next defense phase use a
Avoiding or Endurance to dodge/block his Super E-Ball. Next attack phase use
again your Destruc-Disk or Cont. Kick depending on the enemies position. Keep
doing this the whole battle and you will find yourself as the winner.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choices:
016 Resurrection
*018 F.Lightbomb
088 Dende

Defeat deck choices:
015 Sonic Kick
017 S.Beam Can.
*088 Dende

Story14: A Premonition! The New Terror
=======================================
Dr. Gero will flie to his lab and will activate #17&#18. #17 will kill his
creator and then they will activate #16. They leave the battlefield and Gohan
and friends will go searching from some weird machine located near Gingir
Town. You will now be on a map, and you will receive a Heart Virus card. Now
talk four times to Trunks and he will talk about his master Gohan. Next talk
once to Bulma and then find Cell's cocon. Then call Trunks and Bulma to you.
Now Piccolo will feel a strange power and goes looking for it. Then he find
Cell, and a fierce battle will begin.

Piccolo(Kami) vs Cell

STRATEGY
=========
Best limits for Piccolo for this fight:

Beam deck: 006 Cont. Kick------->Damage Card
016 Resurrection----->Support Card
018 F.Lightbomb------>Beam Card

Defeat deck: 015 Sonic Kick------->Damage Card
016 Resurrection----->Support Card
017 S.Beam Can.------>Beam Card

Strategy: Begin the battle with some 5/4/3 stage atk. Never use any moves
against Cell before he uses gather power, otherwise he will always shoot a
Special Beam Canon to you. But when he uses his gather power you must go with
him, next defense phase use a Foresight/Telepathy or Yajirobe card. Most of
the time he uses a 5 stage atk. sometimes he uses a Special Beam Canon or a
Kamehameha. Next attack phase you must use your beam card if Cell is in the
air, or the damage card if he stands on the ground. He will now use his
S.Kamehameha so use a Avoiding to dodge it. If you don't have it than use an
Endurance. Next attack phase use the 4 stage atk. Keep this up and you will
win this battle, if you run bit low on health use Resurrection or a Dende card
this is all help I can offer you for this battle.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choises:
*012 Kamehameha
118 Afterimage
122 Telepathy

Defeat deck choices:
*018 F.Lightbomb
085 Tien
118 Afterimage

Story15: A Walking Weapon!! The Android Cometh
===============================================
Cell will flie after a hard battle with Piccolo. Piccolo will get back to the
Kame House, but after some rest the androids arrive. #17 challenges Piccolo to
a fight, if he lose he will have to tell where Goku is. What will it be??

Piccolo(Kami) vs #17

STRATEGY
=========
Best limits for Piccolo for this fight:

Beam deck: 006 Cont. Kick------->Damage Card
016 Resurrection----->Support Card
018 F.Lightbomb------>Beam Card

Defeat deck: 015 Sonic Kick------->Damage Card
016 Resurrection----->Support Card
018 F.Lightbomb------>Beam Card

Strategy: This will be a hard battle. Start like always with some 5/4/3 stage
atk. And move into the air as soon as possible, that way #17 will do lower
damage on you with his Crazy Rush. When you notice that #17 gathers power do
the same right away. Now it is a bit of nap what he will do, sometimes he uses
his Crazy Rush already or sometimes his 5 stage atk. before. Because I think
Crazy Rush can inflict more damage than a 5 stage atk. I would say: play save.
So use a Shockwave or Endurance card. Next attack phase use your F.Lightbomb
if he is floating in the air, or your damage card if he is standing on the
ground. This is the basic for this fight. If you may run low on health use a
Dende card best, if not available in your hand at that time than use the
Resurrection from your limit. Good luck.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choises:
010 Masenko
*013 S.Kamehameha
021 Destruc-Disk

Defeat deck choises:
*006 Cont. Kick
011 Dunk Shot
025 Solid Shot

Story16: Goku and Gohan Family Training
========================================
It is now Goku and Gohan's turn to train into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, so
get ready for some practise. You will be on a map, first go to the jar that is
most left below. Look 8times in it, than you will receive the Trunks Sword
card. Than go to the house behind Goku, there is a note placed from mr. Popo.
Keep reading it after a while you get a Kaio card(defeat deck) or a Solid Shot
card(beam deck), than keep looking and eventually you get a Full Spirit(beam
deck) or a S.Kamehameha(defeat deck). After that talk to Goku and get your
training started. Than from no-where #16 & #18 show up and attack you.

SSJ Goku & Gohan vs #16 & #18

STRATEGY
=========
In slot 1: Goku

Best limits for Goku for this fight:

Beam deck: 013 S.Kamehameha----->Beam Card
025 Solid Shot------->Damage Card
026 Teleport.-------->Guard Card

Defeat deck: 013 S.Kamehameha----->Beam Card
019 Taiyoken--------->Guard Card
025 Solid Shot------->Damage Card

In slot 2: Gohan

best limits for Gohan for this fight:

Both decks: 010 Masenko---------->Beam Card
011 Dunk Shot-------->Damage Card

Strategy: Start with Goku and use some 5/4/3 stage atk. on #16. I recommend to
stay on the ground all time when fighting #16. After a while he will use
gather power, next attack phase you must do the same. Next defense phase use
in beam deck the Teleport. and in defeat deck a Avoiding or Endurance. Most of
the time #16 will shoot a Rocket Punch, next attack phase use the 4 stage atk.
Now use a Teleport. or Avoiding again, this time he will probable use another
Rocket Punch or his Hell Flash. A Hell Flash is something that will kill you
easily at this point of the game, so better dodge it. Next attack phase use a
S.Kamehameha if he is in the air, or a Solid Shot if he stands on the ground.
Keep this up and eventually he will die, next up is #18. Use the same strategy
on her, only she uses Attack #18 blockable with Taiyoken or Shockwave or Super
E-ball which is blockable by Avoiding and Teleport. When Goku dies use Gohan
for him the follow. Do the same as with Goku only for him with his limit:
Masenko when #18 is in the air, or the Dunk Shot when she is on the ground.
This battle isn't that hard, so you will beat it quickly.

You get a card if you win a battle. Select one of the three cards.

Beam deck choises:
026 Teleport.
*101 Gravity Dev.
107 Btl.Jacket

Defeat deck choises:
*026 Teleport.
101 Gravity Dev.
113 Heart Virus

Story17: Challenging Cell!! The Duel Unfolds
==============================================
Cell became perfect and defeated Vegeta and Trunks. But he spared there lives
and organises a tournament. Every Z-warrior goes at it and so the Cell Games
begin. Trunks will now join your party and brings a card with him, Rising Kick
(defeat deck) or Burning Atk.(beam deck), now you have to fight Cell. I picked
Trunks all the time because you will need him for the ex.stories later in the
game.

Trunks vs Cell

STRATEGY
=========
Best limits for Trunks for this fight:

Beam deck: 006 Cont. Kick------->Defeat Card
035 Burning Atk.----->Beam Card

Defeat deck: 010 Masenko---------->Beam Card
034 Rising Kick------>Defeat Card

-= 2. Introduction -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

The Dragon Ball Z saga is brought to the Gameboy Advance in the form of an
action/RPG title. It is a pretty bland game to be blunt, although it, from my
understanding, takes after various sagas of the DBZ anime. It is quite true
to the original anime, although the game controls could have been less shoddy
than they are. The game could have more depth like an RPG, but it's obviously
a kid-oriented title, so I guess it's good for what it is. However, I would
recommend some DBZ fan to try this, regardless of the age group, but not
really for serious gamers. It simply isn't THAT great, that's all.

-= 3. Story -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Our story begins with our humble hero, Goku. It has been a long time since he
last saw his childhood friends, and so he has decided to meet with them on
Master Roshi's Island, the house of his old Martial Arts master. Accompanying
Goku is his young six-year-old son, Gohan, named after his grandfather. Goku
is glad to see Bulma, Krillin, and even Master Roshi's long-time companion
Turtle.

Unknowingly, trouble looms over Goku and his friends even as they catch up on
old times. Traveling toward Earth at this very moment is a powerful Saiyan
warrior with some terrifying news for Goku.

The fate of Earth and the universe rests in Goku's hands...

Flying
------

Obviously, Goku has the power of flight in this game. Press R and he'll
levitate; press a direction on the Control Pad and he'll quickly fly in that
direction, as long as you're holding down the direction on the pad. Each
space you fly consumes a Flight Charge. After you run out of Flight Charges,
you cannot fly until you get a refill. They are scattered around the areas of
the game, so they aren't too hard to find. Flying has its advantages, too.
For instance, you can fly across pits, get away from an enemy quickly, and so
on. Just be sure not to waste this ability, though!

Ki Attacks
----------

Goku's special abilities are in the form of a magic known as Ki. Use this
power by pressing B, holding it to charge up the ability. At the start of the
game, you only have access to the Ki Blast, but as you progress, you can
learn a couple more techniques to add to your arsenal. See the Ki Abilities
section of this FAQ for more information on those abilities!

Master Roshi's Island
---------------------

After the opening FMV, the game opens on Master Roshi's Island with all your
friends standing around. Start by talking to Master Roshi himself. He'll tell
you about his magazine collection (your first quest begins here), but he
seems to have lost a few. Talk to Gohan and everyone else, then walk around
the island and pick up 2 magazines. Then, enter the Kame House and you'll
find a third magazine on the floor inside. Leave the house and talk to Master
Roshi again, and he'll give you 2 Senzu Beans and some Herbs for the
magazines as thanks.

Upon completing this quest, you will gain 350 experience points and go up to
Level 2! After that, Raditz will appear and kidnap Gohan, then vanish again.
Piccolo then shows up and offers to work with you as a team to stop Raditz.
He will decide to go alone, so he'll leave. You then call down Nimbus and a
small cloud appears nearby; walk onto it to leave the island.

Goku's Home
-----------

You'll arrive in the area outside of Goku's house. Go in the back of the
house and talk to Chi-Chi if you want. From where you arrived in this area,
head east to a pond area, where you will find actual enemies for the first
time. Attack the Crabs, Squirrels, and Snakes running around to get some
experience (you'll get to Level 3 from this little area alone). Head
southwest to a patch of 6 bushes. Destroy them with Ki blasts, then check out
the dark spot on the ground to get some Herbs. Next, head all the way north
of the pond and follow the path as far north as you can go. Climb up the
ladder you find (not the first one next to the pond, but one further north)
Use a couple Ki blasts to destroy the barriers in your way, then go east and
defeat the Blue Dog there, along with any Snakes you see. Follow the path
southeast to find a Senzu Bean on the ground.

Now, head back to where the house is, and follow the path southward from
there. Follow the path all the way to the end in the northwest area. Continue
north into the Forest.

Forest
------

Here, go north and up a couple steps to a ledge where an empty nest lays.
Talk to the wandering Pteradactyl to hear of its despair over its egg being
stolen, and you'll get to help it. Start by going back down the steps and
walking around the platform where the nest is to find a stone. Take it, then
go back around and head southwest to a path between the trees. Follow it
south and east to a stone; take it. Now, go all the way north to a set of
steps. Go up them and follow the path all the way west to a large set of
stairs to the north. Go up them and continue north and east. Go all the way
east along the obscured path and you'll come to an open area with Chiaotzu
and Tien standing around. Talk to Chiaotzu to get 500 experience points, then
talk to Tien. After telling your story to him too, you'll get another 500
experience points. Now, continue east and you'll see a barrier to the north.
Destroy it with Ki shots, then defeat the Blue Dog and follow the path to a
stone; take the stone.

Now, go back east and south, then continue east to a waterfall. Fly across
the rocks blocking your ground path, then land and go north up the cliff.
Fight and defeat the Pteradactyl by keeping your distance and shooting lots
of Ki blasts at it whenever possible. When you finally defeat it, go west and
grab the Pteradactyl Egg! Now, backtrack all the way back to the nest in the
beginning of the Forest area. Talk to the Pteradactyl and give back the Egg
to get 350 experience points!

At this point, head west and up the steps, then continue further west as far
as you can go. Go south and down the steps, and head west to a seemingly
abandoned tent. The old man that it belongs to is trapped on an island to the
north. You'll see 3 slots in a straight line in the water; place the 3 stones
you found in those indents to form a path. The old man will thank you and
give you 500 experience points and some Herbs. After that, head all the way
back east to where the nest was. Instead of going northwest and up the steps
again, follow the path directly west to a site with large bones laying there.
Defeat the Blue Dogs and Goku will note there is a powerful presence across
the river. Fly across and continue west to find a Dinosaur. Fight it if you
want (you should for the experience); otherwise continue west out of here
into a village.

Forest Village
--------------

As soon as you enter this area, head directly north and defeat the Blue Dog
that runs at you. Continue north and enter the house at the peak. Talk to the
old man and he says that he can help, but first you must calm the
disturbances in the forest. Agree to do so, then leave the house and go down
one set of steps. Follow the path west and north to a split, defeating the
Blue Dogs along the way. At the split, head west and you'll find a girl in
the corner who is lost. Talk to her and she'll follow you around so you can
bring her home. Be sure to break the box with a Ki blast if you need a refill
of Flight Charges. Then, backtrack all the way east and south to where you
first entered the village, then head south to a large house. Enter it and
talk to the girl's father to be thanked and given 500 experience points!

Now, exit the house and talk to the boy standing outside. Talk to him twice
and he'll reveal that he wants to give that girl flowers, but can't find any.
We'll get those later; for now, head west to a pond with an island in the
center. Talk to the boy standing next to it to hear about his boat being
stuck on the island. Fly over to get it, take the Flight Charge if needed,
then fly back with the boat. The boy will give you 200 experience points as
thanks. Now, head all the way east and north, up one set of steps, then west
and across the gap by flying. Continue to a split in the path (where there's
a pond to the west and a Flight Charge to the east). Break the barriers to
the north and talk to the cat named Neko. It'll follow you around since it is
lost. Take it back to the old man in the northeast house (where you first
visited upon entering this village). He'll thank you and tell you to come
back when you complete the entire mission.

Leave the old man's house, then go south and fly west across the gap again.
Continue until you reach the point where you rescued the girl just a moment
earlier. This time, break the southwest barrier and follow that path around,
breaking the barriers along the way. You'll encounter a Pteradactyl; lure it
out into the open area by the pond and fight it with Ki blasts from a
distance. After you kill it, go back to the dead end where you found it, and
fly northward into a grove. Pick the flowers, then fly back south and make
your way all the way to the girl's house again. Talk to the boy outside and
give him the flowers. He'll reward you with 400 experience points.

From here, head all the way to the westmost point of the village. Then, head
north and up the steps. Follow the path until you reach a guy with a smaller
flying creature next to him. Talk to them (Yamcha and Puar); they'll each
give you 500 experience points! Now, continue east and north along the path,
defeating the enemies and breaking the barriers along the way. Go all the way
east, then south and east again. Fly over the gap, then go north at the other
side to the old man's place. Talk to him and he'll finally help you since the
forest is at peace. He'll allow you to progress through the skull passage in
the back. Walk up to it and the old man will call to you, then teach you the
Solar Flare technique! Now, walk through the skull into the next area, which
is the crash site of Raditz.

Raditz Crash Site
-----------------

Here, go north and talk to Piccolo. When you're ready, go northeast and talk
to Raditz to engage in battle. Since this is the first real boss battle, look
in the appropriate section for help winning here. After the battle, you will
hold down Raditz and Piccolo will come to finish him off. His blast, however,
takes you both out, sending Goku to the Afterlife.

Afterlife
---------

When you arrive here, go up to the desk and talk to the large guy sitting
behind the counter. Then talk to Kami, the green warrior standing nearby.
He'll tell you that you have to pass through Snake Way to reach King Kai.
Now, exit this area and you'll be on your way (now is also a good time to
save, too).

Snake Way
---------

Out here, simply head north and follow the long and winding path throughout
this area. You'll come across a Snake Queen; talk to her and she'll end up
wanting to fight you. Defeat her if you like to get some good experience,
then continue onward. You'll eventually lose balance and fall off Snake Way
and into Hell!

Hell
----

When you land here, Goku will be wondering where he ended up in. From where
you land, go south and east to a grassy area with a couple trees. You'll see
a red devil-like creature there; talk to him and he'll challenge you to catch
him, then he disappears. So, continue east and south along the path; Goku
will be amazed at the "pool of juice" and some spirits will mock him. Anyway,
continue southeast at the path split. Continue south and west and you'll see
an elevated ledge with Clouds moving around on it to the north. Fly onto that
ledge, then continue all the way west along the path to another split. Go
north and you'll come to a spirit (a non-moving cloud). Talk to it and it'll
follow you around.

Now, head back south to where the path split was. Before going back east,
continue all the way south and west to the very end of the path. Pick up a
Senzu Bean at the end, then go back to the split and head east, then fly back
down to the lower ground. Then, go east and north and make your way all the
way to the starting area of Hell. From there, go south and at the split, head
southeast. You'll see a large building to the west; walk south and west in
front of it and you'll see a person standing there. Talk to him and he'll be
happy you brought the spirit back, giving you 500 experience points for your
trouble!

After this, head back east and north to the path split. Instead of continuing
north some more, head west as far as you can, then go north. At the cliff you
reach, fly up to the higher ledge and walk to the east to find another
spirit. Talk to it, then it'll follow; bring it back south to the guy you
were just with to get 500 more experience points. Now, head back to the
starting point of Hell again, and from there head east. You'll see a ledge
you can fly onto to the north; fly up there and head east a bit. You'll come
to the final spirit; get it to follow you and bring it back to the guy at the
Fitness Center (that building). He'll give you 500 more points, too!

From here, head to the start point once more and head all the way east and
south. Continue as far south as you can go, then go west and fly onto the
ledge you pass by. Continue west to the path split, then go southeast. You'll
see a tree with a fruit nested in it, and a blue guy standing nearby guarding
it. Since you have all 3 spirits, go past him and up the stairs to the tree,
then check out the Yemma Fruit nearby. You'll eat it, and a red devil-like
creature will confront you. He'll show you how to get back to Snake Way, and
off you will be!

Snake Way
---------

Back here, head north and follow the path all the way through this area. You
will want to fly northward across gaps to parts of the path further ahead, to
save alot of time. Make your way all the way to the northeast area, which is
the end. You'll notice King Kai's planet floating in the air nearby. Stand by
the cloud arc in front of you, then fly north and west to the planet. An
animated scene will appear and you will be at King Kai's.

King Kai's Planet
-----------------

Here, head north along the path and you'll see King Kai standing outside with
his flying cricket Gregory. Talk to King Kai and he'll accept the proposal to
train you. He'll first have you catch Bubbles, the monkey, in the field to
the south. Use your flying power to catch up to him quickly, then press A
when you catch up to stop him. The next task will be to bonk Gregory, the
flying cricket, on the head with a mallet. Follow it around and hit it by
pressing A, then the training will be complete. King Kai will let you know
that your friends on Earth have collected the Dragon Balls and wished you
back alive again. You will then leave this planet and head to Kami's home.

Kami's Sanctuary
----------------

Here, head north to where Kami and Mr. Popo are standing. Talk to them both,
especially Kami, and he'll teach you the infamous Kame Hame Ha ability! He'll
also direct you to where you should be going. After that, head behind the
building in the northwest corner and talk to Korrin. He'll give you some
Senzu Beans to help you out! Now, go south and to the west edge of this area
and you will fly down to the snowy forest below.

Snowy Forest
------------

Here, start by going westward until you come across a little boy stuck on a
high ledge. Fly up and rescue him, then he'll follow you around for a bit.
Head all the way south through the forest and icy pond, defeating the
Dinosaur and Wolves along the way. At the end, continue south into the City.

City
----

Once here, head all the way southward until you reach the Bank on a street
corner. With the boy still following you, enter the house on the adjacent
corner to the right. Talk to his mother and she will thank you by giving you
a Capsule. Leave the house and go back north to where you entered the City.
Enter the house to the west of that point and talk the guy collecting
Capsules inside. He'll take your Capsule for 1500 experience points! Now, go
back to the Bank, where there is apparently a robbery taking place. The
robbers are running around outside, so dispose of each one with your attacks.
After you kill them all, you'll also be rewarded with 1500 more experience
points!

Now that that's over with, continue southward from the Bank to a restricted
area belonging to what seems to be the military.

Military Base
-------------

Here, simply follow the road all the way around, talking to the soldiers
standing around along the way. Along the way, you'll hear King Kai telling
you to hurry back to Earth to help your friends. When you reach the end, head
east and into a battlefield area.

Battlefield
-----------

In this battlefield outside of the city, head east and talk to Krillin and
Gohan again to catch up on events on Earth. Then, go north and talk to Nappa
to enter battle. Read the Bosses section for help getting through this fight.
After you beat him, you'll gain 20000 experience points and Vegeta will then
battle you. Consult the Bosses section again for strategy here. After the two
battles are over, a scene will take place where Vegeta transforms to hurt
Goku, then Yajirobe appears and fights Vegeta back, forcing him to transform
back to normal. Gohan transforms and beats down Vegeta, but Goku says not to
finish him off. After Vegeta disappears, Krillin talks about going to Namek
to collect Dragon Balls, then this area is done. Your next stop will be the
ruined planet of Namek.

Namek Village
-------------

When you arrive at this ruined village, head north and enter the first
building you come across. Talk to the Namek inhabitant inside and he'll tell
you about the temple and the artifacts. Agree to help, then leave the house.
Talk to the guy standing outside that house and he'll tell you about the
dying trees, and how you should plant trees to keep their planet living.
Agree to help them as well, then continue north through the ruined village
and watch out for the Frieza Fiends and Namek Pteradactyls wandering around.
Fight them if you like (you should for the experience). The trees you can
find are in the northwest, northeast, and southeast areas of this area of the
village (you can tell what they are since they have darked tops than other
trees). They are usually being guarded by a Frieza Fiend, so be careful. Go
back to the first building you saw in the area and plant the trees in the
surrounding holes. You will receive 7000 experience points for doing so. Now,
get to the northwest area by flying to higher ledges and such, and continue
north to the next area.

Namek Temple Area
-----------------

This area is just outside of the temple ruins on Namek. It is swarming with
Frieza Fiends, which you can fight for tons of experience. Anyway, there are
three Artifacts you must obtain, which you must place in their proper places
inside the temple. Anyway, head north and to the west. Follow the path going
west and all the way north while defeating the Frieza Fiends and Namek
Pteradactyls along the way. As you make your way northward by walking around
the path, you'll notice a red object on the higher ledge. Fly up and grab the
Red Artifact. After that, continue east and southeast along that upper path.
You will be contacted by King Kai along the way, too. When you reach the end
of that path, fly up to the higher ledge and defeat the Frieza Fiends and
Namek Dinosaur. Grab the Blue Artifact you see there.

Now, make your way back to the south end of this whole area. Defeat more
enemies to gain lots more experience (you should be at around level 17-19 at
this point in the game). Then, enter the temple itself.

Temple
------

Inside here, go straight ahead and stand on the white platform to warp to the
next room. There, go south and all the way east until you reach the wall. Go
north and you'll come to a statue of a hand pointing to the right. Walk in
the direction it points to find a hidden room through the wall. Grab the
Green Artifact there; you now have all 3 Artifacts!

Now, go back out of this room and head south and west. Step on the green
platform you come across to reach the next room. There, go west to another
statue of a pointing hand. Go south from there and onto the orange platform
to reach another room. Head east and south through this room, then east to a
yellow platform. Warp from there to the next room, then in that room, go
south and west at the first path split. Go all the way west to the end, then
onto the white platform. In the next room, simply go north and use the next
white platform to warp again.

You will now be in the room where you place the Artifacts. Go around the
room, placing each Artifact on the respectively colored spaces around the
statue. After you do so, your speed will increase and you will gain 30000
experience points. Goku will notice something to the left, so walk onto the
white platform on the left side of the room. Follow the path all the way
north to the end to exit the temple.

Behind the Temple
-----------------

In this nice area out back of the temple, head straight ahead and talk to
Krillin, Gohan, and Vegeta. After you find out information from them, go
northwest to come to another guy, who is the leader of the Ginyu Squad. Talk
to him about the squad, then go directly north to find the other members of
the Ginyu Squad standing around. Before you do anything with these guys, you
might want to run around the rest of the area, defeating the enemies
wandering around (so you won't have to worry about them when fighting
Ginyus). Then, talk to the first one (Recoome) and he'll fight you. Lure him
out into the open area and defeat him by using Solar Flare and punching to
attack. You will get 40000 experience points for beating him. Go talk to the
second one (Burter) and do the same for 70000 experience points. Finally, go
east and talk to the last Ginyu Squad member (Jeice) and fight him. After you
win and get 70000 experience points from him, the leader of them will be
standing around to the south.

Head down to where the leader was standing and he'll be ready to fight you.
Treat the Captain Ginyu just like the other 3 members and you'll easily win
that battle, too. You also gain 90000 experience points from this battle!
After that, Goku will see Frieza's ship to the east, and that is where you
will go.

Frieza's Forces Outpost
-----------------------

Here, you will be doing a lot of flying to get through this area. There are
also many Frieza Fiends around, but they should be easy if you're at level 20
or above at this point. If not, wander around and gain some experience while
making your way eastward. When you get far east, continue into the next area.
There, continue east and defeat the Frieza Fiends and Soldier you see
standing there. Then, fly to the top of Frieza's ship and enter it.

Frieza's Ship
-------------

In here, talk to Krillin, Gohan, and Vegeta standing around. Then, continue
east into the Rejuvination Chamber to be healed for the final battle with
Frieza. After that, you will be outside of the ship again.

Outside Frieza's Ship
---------------------

Out here, talk to your friends one last time, then continue northward. King
Kai will wish you well, too. Continue north and east and you'll reach Frieza.
Talk to him and the battle will begin. Read the Bosses section for some
strategy here. After all forms of Frieza are beat, congratulations on
completing this game.

Raditz
Found: Raditz Crash Site
Experience: 4000
Strategy: The battle with Raditz isn't quite as hard as it may seem, to
be honest. It can be frustrating, I admit, since Raditz moves
as quickly as you and tends to follow you really closely. Use
your Ki blasts from a distance to attack Raditz if you get far
enough away from him. When Raditz stops to charge a Ki blast to
shoot, face him from the side and either charge up your own
blast to hit him with, or just go up and punch him a couple
times. If you end up getting stuck along an edge of the area,
fly over Raditz to get out of that predicament, and continue
your attack from afar. If you get low on health, there are
Herbs you can pick in this battlefield, as well as Flight
Charges if you run out of that as well. Just keep moving at ALL
times and fire on Raditz whenever possible, and you'll end up
winning.

Nappa
Found: Battlefield
Experience: 20000
Strategy: Nappa is obviously more powerful than Raditz was, but he is
nothing you can't deal with. I have a good strategy that works
and can finish Nappa off rather quickly. Throughout the battle,
stay away from him so he doesn't hit you with his punches or
energy beams. Switch to the Solar Flare ability, then when you
get far enough away, turn around and charge it a little, then
hit Nappa with it. He'll be frozen in his tracks for a few
seconds. Now is your chance to run up and punch him 4-5 times
consecutively. After about 5 punches, run away since Nappa will
be moving shortly. Repeat that process until you end up
winning; it's that simple!

Vegeta
Found: Battlefield
Experience: 30000
Strategy: Since this battle takes place immediately after fighting Nappa,
you may want to start off by using a Senzu Bean or Herb,
depending on how much health you need to recover. Vegeta acts
just like Nappa did; he follows you around as closely as he
can, punching you and using energy blasts whenever possible.
Use Solar Flare to freeze him temporarily, then run up and
punch Vegeta a few times. About halfway through the battle,
Vegeta will claim that enough is enough, but the battle still
continues. Keep on using Solar Flare and attacking, and you
will win.

Frieza
Found: Outside Frieza's Ship
Experience: N/A
Strategy: Of course, this is the final enemy you face in this short game!
It is a bit sad since this guy is just as easy to foil as any
other enemy/boss in this game! Simply use Solar Flare, punch
Frieza a few times, run away, and repeat. When Frieza moves on
to his next couple forms, be careful since if he hits you, you
will lose more health than before. Just repeat the same
strategy as mentioned above, and you will eventually beat his
third form. You will then end up in a ruined area since the
planet is breaking apart from the battle. Goku will go Super
Saiyan and Frieza will be back to normal. Use a Senzu Bean at
this time if you need it, then continue the attack like before
until you win, beating this game.

*****************************************************************************

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
-= 9. Ki Abilities -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Kame Hame Ha: This is the final Ki ability you receive, and it is naturally
the most powerful one, especially when charged up! If you
fully charge it and release, Goku will shout out the infamous
words and shoot out a large energy beam to attack. If not
charged, it is a smaller beam, obviously.

Ki Blast: This is your standard energy ball shot. Tap the button to shoot a
weak shot that doesn't go far. Hold down B to charge it up,
allowing for a larger blast with more distance on the shot.

Solar Flare: Use this ability to temporarily blind the enemy with an energy
blast. You must charge this up in order to use; the longer you
charge, the more effective it will be, obviously.

-= 10. Items -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Flight Charge: Recover some flight charges.

Herb: Recover 1/4 health (can only hold up to 6 at once).

Senzu Bean: Fully recover health (can only hold up to 3 at once).

Cheap Recovery Trick
--------------------

If you are wandering around in an area and are low on health, you can try
this (not-so-secret) trick to recover quickly. Save your game, then shut off
the game and turn it back on again. When you appear back where you left off,
you?ll be back at full health/Ki without even using items!

Infinite Health and Ki Glitch
-----------------------------

When an energy ball is shot at you, press R to fly and it will hit you. You
will land, but the Flight Charge display will still be showing, meaning you
lost no health at all from the attack! You will land when hit, though, so go
in the air and land again to get out of this useful glitch!

Introduction
****************************************************************************

Welcome to my first FAQ. I'd thought I would start small, real small.
Dragonball Z: Taiketsu is the first true DBZ fighting game for the GBA, and it's
not TOO bad for the first one. It has a semi-3D graphics system, and an average
fighting system. It is also one of the few DBZ games to enjoy Brolly among its
ranks. So I hope you have fun as we explore this game and milk it for everything
its worth!

*******************************************************************************
FAQs
*******************************************************************************

Q: Is Brolly in this game?
A: Yes, yes he is.

Q: How do you transform into SSJ, Super Buu, etc...
A: You only can transform into alternate forms of your character during a
special attack, sorry.

Q: How do you initiate a Sky Battle?
A: Down, Down, Up + B. I have only done this a few times, so it is considered
unconfirmed how to do it to me...

Character Bios
********************************************************************************

Goku: Born a Saiyan named Kakarot, He was originally sent to Earth to destroy
it. As a child, he had an accident, and forgot about his
evil mission, and thus the good-natured, honest, and caring Goku was born. He
trained with Master Roshi and King Kai to learn skills to help save the Earth,
and was the first Saiyan in 1000 years to learn the ability to go Super Saiyan.
Goku is the central character in Dragon Ball Z. He is a longtime friend of
Krillin, husband to Chi-Chi, father to Gohan and Goten, brother of Raditz and
of the same Saiyan Race as Vegeta, Trunks, and Broly. His special abilities
include the Kamehameha Wave and the Spirit Bomb.

Gohan: Affectionately named after his adoptive grandfather, Gohan is Goku and
Chi-Chi's eldest son. As a young boy, Gohan cried a lot and was easily
frightened; few would have guessed he would grow up to be such a strong
fighter. After his father died fighting Raditz, Gohan trained hard for a full
year under the supervision of Piccolo. Because Gohan is half-human, and
half-Saiyan, his strength can actually exceed Goku's. However, Chi-Chi often
insists that he concentrate on his scholastic matters rather than fighting.
Gohan has the ability to become a Super Saiyan, and his special abilities
include the Kamehameha Wave, and the Masenko Ha.

Move List
********************************************************************************

Goku:
The main hero of DB, DBZ, and DBGT, Goku has established himself as one of the
strongest warriors in the universe. A member of the almost extinct warrior race
known as the Sayians, his skill, and passion, for fighting is extremely high. He
became the first Super Saiyan (SSJ) in over 3000 years, during a battle with his
race's executor Frieza. He has two sons with his wife Chi Chi, Gohan and Goten.
He has black hair, and wears his trademark orange uniform with pride...

Kamehameha: Down, Forward, Down, Forward + B, Energy Level 1

Goku powers up to SSJ, and fires his trademark move, the Kamehameha Wave.

Super Kamehameha: Down, Forward, Down, Forward + L, Energy Level 2

Goku surrounds himself with Ki, then Powers Up to SSJ2, and unleashes a
Kamehameha Wave of God-like proportions.

Spirit Bomb: Back, Down, Forward, Up + L, Energy Level 3

Goku's final attack, the Spirit Bomb. He charges his Ki and jumps in the air. He
gathers energy from around the planet, and materializes it into a massive Ki
Ball. He hurls the Bomb at his opponent, guaranteeing extreme damage, if it
hits...

Vegeta:
Vegeta, the Saiyan Prince, is the main rival of Goku. He fought on the side of
evil until he lost a major battle against Goku and his friends. He started to
change sides after the battle on Namek, and eventually settled down on Earth. He
started a family with Bulma and has a son named Trunks. He wears a blue jumpsuit
with white and gold armor.

Galick Gun: Down, Forward, Down, Forward + B, Energy Level 1

Vegeta jumps in the air and fires a purple Ki wave downwards at a 45-degree
angle. A staple in Vegeta's arsenal of attacks.

Big Bang Attack: Down, Forward, Down, Forward + L, Energy Level 2

Vegeta goes SSJ and charges his Ki into a ball. He chucks it at the enemy,
causing much carnage and much pain.

Oozaru: Back, Down, Forward, Up + L, Energy Level 3

Vegeta's Final Attack, the Oozaru Transformation. He makes a Moon Light Ki Ball,
and hurls it into the sky. He jumps up off the screen and steps down in his full
Oozaru form, crushing his enemy underneath his massive bulk.

Gohan:
The eldest son of Goku, Gohan is a Half-Saiyan and has participated in most
major battles that involved the stake of the universe, since he was 4! Gohan was
the first to go SSJ2 and was trained by both his father and a Namekian named
Piccolo. He masquerades around Orange Star City as the magnificent super hero,
The Great Saiyaman. Even though he is one of the youngest Z-warriors, he is also
one of the strongest. He wears his Green and Black Great Saiyaman costume.

Multi-Ki Blast: Down, Back, Forward + B, Energy Level 1

Gohan fires Ki blasts one by one by one...

Masenko: Back, Down, Forward + L, Energy Level 2

One of Gohan's trademarks, he learned this Ki Wave from Piccolo. He goes SSJ and
puts his hands above his forehead and unleashes a Ki wave at the opponent.

Super Kamehameha: Down, Forward + B, Down, Forward + L, Energy Level 3

Gohan's Final Attack, the Super Kamehameha Wave. He goes SSJ2 and fires a super-
charged form of his father's signature move directly at the enemy.

Gotenks:
The cocky fusion of Goku's son, Goten and Vegeta's son, Trunks, he is the
planet's last defense against Majin Buu. He is the second person to go SSJ3, the
first being Goku, and he is extremely powerful. Although, he tends to make up
worthless attacks, to put on a show for a crowd of people, but some of these
thoughtless attacks do work. He has black and purple hair, and wears a blue and
yellow vest.

Kamehameha: Down, Forward, Down, Forward + B, Energy Level 1

Being half of one of Goku's sons, Gotenks wields this attack as well.

Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack: Down, Back, Forward + L, Energy Level 2

One of Gotenks' signature moves, he powers up to SSJ3 and spits out 5 explosive
ghosts. They then home in on the opponent and explode on contact.

Super Buu Volleyball Attack: Back, Down, Forward + R, Energy Level 3

The Final Attack of Gotenks, the Super Buu Volleyball Attack. He goes SSJ3 and
encases his enemy in a rubber ball. He hits the ball into the air, kicks it
around a little, then hits it back down to Earth, causing it to explode.

Piccolo:
Piccolo, like Vegeta, was once fighting along the forces of evil. But after the
battle against Goku's brother Raditz, Piccolo decides to train Goku's son,
Gohan. He soon befriends Gohan and the evil in his heart completely dissolves
when he sacrifices his own life to save Gohan's. He recently fused with his
other Half, Kami, to increase his power greatly. He is a Namekian, so he has
green skin and antennae protruding out of his forehead. He wears a purple
uniform.

Sonic Kick: B, B, A, A, Forward + R, Energy Level 1

Piccolo teleports around kicking the opponent as he goes, a very good physical
attack indeed.

Special Beam Cannon: Forward, Back, Down, Forward + B, Energy Level 2

A trademark attack of Piccolo, this energy beam is really two, one shooting at
the opponent, and the other spiraling around it, acting like a drill.

Hellzone Grenade: Down, Back, Down, Back + L

Piccolo's greatest technique, The Hellzone Grenade. He fires multiple Ki balls
around the opponent, then he telekinetically, makes all the Ki close in on the
opponent. They explode on contact, causing great damage on the opponent.

Future Trunks:
Trunks has come to the past to warn the Z-Fighters of the Androids. They
terrorize his planet everyday, and all the Z-fighters except him are dead. He
gives Goku a heart virus, to save him from a virus he catches before the battle,
and takes his leave until the androids show up in the present. He wields a sword
and uses it in most of his attacks, by firing Ki waves out the tip of the
weapon. He has purple hair, and wears a blue jacket and gray pants.

Final Slash: Down, Back, Down, Back + B

Trunks draws his sword, and slashes it at the enemy, sending a Ki wave along the
screen.

Triple Slash: Down, Back, Down, Forward + L, Energy Level 2

Trunks powers up to SSJ, then performs three Final Slashes in a row.

Burning Slash: B, R, Back, A, L, Forward, Energy Level 3
Trunks goes SSJ and flails his arms around like a madman. He then fires off his
trademark Burning Attack followed by a Flaming Sword Slash.

Cell:
Cell is the ultimate creation of Dr. Gero, an old nemesis of Goku. He is
composed of the cells of all the fighters on Earth. He has their attacks and
special abilities, such as Piccolo's Regeneration or The Saiyan's Zenkai power
up, where if you survive a mortal wound, you become much stronger. He absorbed
Androids 17 and 18 to become "Perfect". He is reptilian-like, and is green with
black spots.
Absorption: Back, Down, Back, Forward + B, Energy Level 1

Cell sticks his tail out, and absorbs a portion of his opponent's body fluid.

Uppercut/Weak Kamehameha: Down, Forward, Down, Forward + B, Energy Level 2

Cell becomes "Perfect" and knocks his opponent into the air. He charges a
Kamehameha to greet the opponent when he gets down.

Super Kamehameha: Down, Forward, Down, Forward + L, Energy Level 3

Cell becomes "Perfect" and charges a Kamehameha to its limits. He then fires the
Kamehameha at the enemy, promising pain and torture.

Brolly:
Brolly is the Legendary Super Saiyan and has come to Earth to destroy Kakarot,
Goku's Saiyan name. Apparently, Goku made Brolly cry when they were both
newborns and Brolly has never forgotten it. He was born with a power level of
10,000 and he is godly powerful. He has blue hair, and wears white pants.
"Kakarotto!!!"

Hovercraft Punch: Back, Down, Forward + B, Energy Level 1

Brolly rushes at the opponent, and punches them with a great amount of force.

Seismic Power: Back, Down, Forward, Down, Back + R, Energy Level 2

Broly powers up to his Legendary SSJ form, then powers up causing an earthquake
to damage the enemy.

Legendary Super Saiyan Ki Blast: Down, Back, Down, Forward + L, Energy Level 3

Brolly powers up to his Legendary SSJ form and lets loose a Ki blast like
nothing you've ever seen. This attack is one of the best in the game!!!

Krillin:
Krillin is the Bald Monk, who isn't very tall. He is only human, so his power
level isn't quite as high as a Saiyan's or a Namek's. He has been Goku's best
friend since they were children, and he always is there to lend a helping hand,
if he overcomes his cowardice. He is short, bald, and wears an orange uniform
similar to Goku's.

Super Head-Butt: Down, Forward, Down, Forward + A, Energy Level 1

Krillin spirals at the enemy, head first, and plows into the enemy with great
force.

Kamehameha: Down, Forward, Down, Forward + B, Energy Level 2

Krillin, being the inventor of the Kamehameha Wave's student, he wields this
attack to full effect.

Destructo Disk: Back, Down, Forward, Back + L, Energy Level 3

Krillin's trademark move, serves as his best attack as well. He makes a Ki blast
and sharpens it to a razor-edge. He chucks it at the enemy, taking a chunk of
their life away.

Android 18:
Android 18 was modified by Dr. Gero to kill the Z-fighters. She is highly
powerful and can beat even a SSJ. She was absorbed by Cell, but was spit out
thanks to a punch from Gohan. She fell in love with Krillin and had a child
named Marron. She has blonde hair and wears blue jeans and a black shirt.

Multi-Ki blast: Down, Back, Down, Forward + B

18 fires Ki blasts one by one by one...

Energy Wave: Back, Forward, Back, Forward + B

She charges a Ki wave in her palms then fires it in a swerving Beam.

Triple Rocket Attack: Forward, Down, Back, Forward + L

Android 18 sends out three missiles, they home in on the opponent, causing major
damage.

Raditz:
Raditz is the brother of Goku and he is much more powerful than Goku at the time
of his arrival. He was eventually defeated by the combined efforts of Goku,
Gohan, and Piccolo. He lives in the Home For Infinite Losers (HFIL) after being
killed by the Special Beam Cannon. He has long black hair and wears Blue and
Orange Saiyan Armor.

Flying Elbow Drop: Down, Forward, Down, Forward + B, Energy Level 1

Raditz jumps in the air and lands an elbow on his opponent's skull.

Karate Chop Beam: Back, Forward, Back, Forward + B, Energy Level 2

Raditz charges an Energy Beam and shoots it into the air, bringing it down in a
Karate Chop motion.

Fireball Somersault: Back, Forward, Down, Forward + R, Energy Level 3

Raditz jumps in the air and surrounds himself with a flaming aura. He then
dives at the opponent, insuring burning agony.

Nappa:
Nappa came along with Vegeta to find the Dragonballs. He was a formidable
warrior, killing Tien and Piccolo, until Goku got there. Goku was too much for
Nappa, and Goku paralyzed him using the Kaio Ken Attack. Now worthless to
Vegeta, he dies at his masters hand. He is a tall, bulky Saiyan, with a bald
head and traditional armor.

Mouth Beam: Forward, Down, Back, Down, Forward + B, Energy Level 1

Nappa fires a Beam of Energy out of his mouth.

One-Handed Power Throw: Back, Forward, Down, Forward + L, Energy Level 2

Nappa picks up the opponent by his skull, and chucks him at the nearest wall.

Earthquake Slam: Back, Down, Forward, Up, Back + R, Energy Level 3

If Nappa needs to impose his bald, shiny will on his hated enemy, this is the
move to do it. Nappa leaps into the air and dropkicks the opponent, causing a
HUGE shockwave.

Android 16:
Android 16 was designed to kill Goku. He is a mechanical Goliath and he is the
strongest, pure, android to exist. His programming is incomplete though, so he
avoids fighting unless it is to protect 17 and 18, or against Goku. Bulma
repaired him after losing a battle against Cell, and his programming was altered
to be righteous. He loses his life against Cell, but he helps Gohan go SSJ2,
making him one of the most important fighters in DBZ. He is huge and has red
hair and wears green armor.

Hell Flash: Back, Forward, Back, Forward + B

16 fires two energy beams from his arms, straight, then upwards, then straight
again.

Rocket Punch: Back, Down, Forward + L, Energy Level 2

16 fires his arm off, making the opponent feel the full force of his fist.

Self-Destruct: B, B, R, A, L, Energy Level 3

16's final move, no pun intended, is Self-Destructing. He ignites a bomb deep
in his metal body, causing damage to himself, but much more to the enemy.

Buu:
Majin Buu was created, by the wizard Bibidi, to destroy the universe. He was
sealed away on earth for many years until Bibidi's son, Babadi, unsealed him
using the energy emitted by the Z-fighters. He is almost unstoppable, but he
acts like a 4 year old. He befriends Hercule and becomes a good person. He is
fat and Pink, you can't miss him.

Hammer: Down, Forward, Down, Forward + L, Energy Level 1

Buu grows his fist to massive proportions and slams it down on the enemy.

Pink Beam: Back, Forward, Down, Forward + L, Energy Level 2

Buu becomes Super Buu and turns the enemy into a piece of candy! He then eats
the candy causing damage to the enemy.

Human Annihilation: Back, Down, Forward, Up + L or R, Energy Level3

Buu's Best attack, the Human Annihilation attack. He becomes Super Buu and lets
loose a barrage of Ki balls into the sky. Then the balls come crashing down on
the battlefield, damaging the enemy randomly.

Frieza:
Frieza is the scourge of the universe, causing terror and pain wherever he steps
foot. He destroyed the Saiyan race and he is in search of the Dragonballs to
achieve his dream of immortality. He loses the fight against Goku on Namek after
Goku went SSJ. He was recovered, almost dead, among the wreckage of Namek by his
father King Cold, and was made a cyborg. Stronger than ever he went to Earth to
exact his revenge on Goku, but was killed by Future Trunks. He is small, purple,
and has horn extending out of his forehead.

Eye Beam: Forward, Back, Down, Forward + B, Energy Level 1

Frieza shoots Ki out of his pupils, piercing the heart of his victim.

Kienzan: Forward, Back, Down, Forward + L, Energy Level 2

Frieza goes to his Final form and lets out a Ki blast similar to Krillin's
attack.

Death Ball: Forward, Down, Back, Forward + L, Energy Level 3

Frieza's greatest weapon against those monkeys, the Death Ball. He goes to his
Final form, and creates a Ki ball of insane size and power. He throws the ball
at his opponent, making a massive explosion.

*************************** 1) INTRODUCTION *****************************
=========================================================================

INTRODUCTION - This is my FAQ/Movelist for Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 on the PS2.
Here you will the moves for all 29 selectable characters, how to unlock them,
the skills they can use and a guide to the various modes of the game including
a walkthrough of the Dragon World Story Mode.

This is an excellent DBZ game and definitely the best I have played so far on
any system. There are so many characters to choose from I would be surprised
if your fave weren't included here. I hope you enjoy the guide and find it of
use.

The latest version of this guide is alwys found at:

www.gamefaqs.com
www.faqs/ign.com

Please ensure you have read the latest version of the guide before emailing me
with a question. Emails that are actually answered in the guide will be turned
into candy and fed to Majin Buu.

***********************************************************************

REVISIONS - (02/12/2003).

First version, movelists and guide to all the modes included. I still haven't
managed to acquire all the breakthrough capsules for all the characters yet, so
there will be additions to the FAQ coming fairly soon. But as it stands you
will find here moves for all characters and a full guide to the various modes
and secrets the game has to offer.

Version 1.1 (14/12/2003)

Ok, so now the US version is out. Mainly this update adds skills I missed and
corrects a few misattributed skills. Also added are the moves for the special
fusion character Gokule. Also I bunged in a FAQ in the Basics section to
quickly answer the various queries flooding into my inbox. There were supposed
to be the moves for Tiencha and Kibitoshin here as well, but my left shoulder
froze and I had to lay off playing and writing for a week =(

The last update before Christmas will be along in a week, and WILL include
Tiencha and Kibitoshin, even if my arm falls off!

Version 1.2 (22/12/2003)

Well my arm is still on (just). Of course I soon realised that the Potara
fusion characters all have slightly different moves depending who is the active
character. So second movesets for the Vegeta-Vegito and Hercule-Gokule fusions
added. Tiencha was fine and disappointingly Kibitoshin had no moves of his
own. Also added every damn capsule in the game including the elusive "Freiza's
Spaceship". That's your lot until after I have eaten my roast goose and opened
my presents. Then you can expect some maps of the levels in Dragon World mode
and more detailed character strategies.

Also, please stop emailing me the "capsule cheat", I know it, I just choose to
not ruin peoples games for them by encouraging them to get all the secrets
without bothering to play the game.

=========================================================================

Big Thank You to all the peeps who sent emails saying "thanks for writing the
guide" and also sent info and corrections. I do try and reply to everyone I
get, but sometimes AOL conspires to delete or randomly not deliver my emails.
So if you wrote me, and I never replied, thankyou!!!!

Credits: Ramien for supplying details of missed skills - "Chi Chi's Wish",
"Bulma's Armour", "Desperate Power" and "Desperate Resolutions"
Carter and Briancito for the "Senzu Bean" skill/s
Briancito also for "Gero's Perpetual Energy R&D"
Psychoknight for pointing out the Gotenks fusion doesn't need both to have Ki
of 4 and also that Goku can get the Z-sword
Tbest for supplying the info for "Frieza's Spaceship" skill, free tilde for you
as promised.... ~
m_toope for noting some more typoes and some suggestions for making a couple of
biog details clearer
Brandon for being the first to point out my mistaken attribution of SSJ2 to Kid
Trunks and Goten as well as several other typoes and boo-boo's I made.

=========================================================================
*************************** 2) THE BASICS *******************************
=========================================================================

When I began the movelists I was faced with a quandary, basically what moves to
list as each character can be customised with various moves gained from
capsules. So I decided to list the basic moves given if you select the
character as NORMAL - that's an uncustomised character - first of all. Each
character has their signature moves; a throw and most of them have a powerup up
or two in NORMAL mode. I have used these as the backbone of the character's
movelists. The moves in NORMAL mode are a good guide to setting up a character
to start with as you get into the game.

You must remember though that certain moves listed in NORMAL mode are NOT
initial available for creating a customised character, they must be obtained in
DRAGON WORLD MODE first. After the NORMAL moves are listed, I have listed first
the additional offensive moves each character can learn, along with inputs.
Then the defensive and support abilities they can equip. For full descriptions
of the abilities check out the skills/capsules sections, I don't want to be
repeating myself for each character.

Certain characters like Goku and Goten/Trunks can fuse into new characters
using a Fusion capsule. I have decided these cover these Fusions as separate
characters, even though they cannot actually be selected from the line-up they
must be activated in battle.

There is also my basic rating of the character and some suggestions for good
skills to add to them when you customise them. This is only VERY basic stuff,
I am sure plenty of very detailed in-depth character FAQs will appear soon, so
this should be seen as a basic overview to help you get started.

There are several modes of play available. The main story mode is called DRAGON
WORLD. Here you take control of Goku and pick allies to work your way through
an adventure based on the plot of the cartoon. Here you win new skills and
unlock secret characters. Unlike the other modes, you cannot access the basis
NORMAL skillset, you must use a customised character to progress. It is
covered in depth in a separate section.

WORLD TOURNAMENT mode sees you work your way through several battles to be
crowned world champion. You can use NORMAL or customised characters here, but
fusions can't be used. You earn cash from competing to spend on new skills at
the skills shop, the better you do, the more cash you earn. This can also be
played as multiplayer, but you will earn no cash.

DUELING MODE. You basic one-on-one 2P versus mode. You can use NORMAL or
CUSTOMISED characters here. You can choose a stage to fight on, some of which
allow wins via Ring-Outs.

TRAINING MODE is split into practice and training. Practice allows you to
fight with NORMAL or CUSTOMISED characters. Training sees you take on the part
of Goten as the other characters take you through the game controls. This also
includes useful practice in Fusion Mode before you can access it in the game.

EDIT SKILLS - here you can visit the Skill Shop and purchase new Skill
capsules. You can customise the characters and you can view a list of all the
skills you have purchased or won in DRAGON WORLD MODE. If you have another
memory card and save you can also trade skills between them. Skills are covered
in depth in their own section.

BABADI'S SPACESHIP - Acquire after finishing DRAGON WORLD and wishing for it
from Shenron. Here are four mini-game stages that allow you to win Dabura and
the three Buu forms.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
GENERAL FAQ
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok well I thought I would get my emails on this and I wasn't wrong! The most
common questions are answered below.

Q: Why can't I Fuse in Tournament or Dragon World Mode?
A: You can't use the Vegito or Gotenks Fusion (or special fusions) ability in
either of these two modes, except when the storyline in Dragon World allows it.
Which is lame.

Q: I can't use Teen Gohan in Dragon World Mode!
A: I have no idea why he is not available as an ally in DW mode, but he ain't.
Sorry!

Q: How did you get the guide up so fast?
A: Belive it or not, the UK (PAL) version came out a month before the US
version. And I live in the UK. I also got my copy free courtesy of a website I
review for, check out my review at www.thunderbolt.be

Q: Is Broly/Master Roshi/SSJ4 Goku/Gogeta etc in the game?
A: Nope. No film characters, no Dragon Ball: GT characters and sadly no Master
Roshi. What you get is what's listed here.

Q: How do I unlock so-and-so character?
A: Read the damn FAQ.

Q: Where do I find so-and-so skill?
A: Most skills eventually appear at the skill shop, but there are a lot of
support skills that do not, for example 4 slot armour and the various "wish"
skills, or the senzu beans. Basically you will need to play Dragon World and
collect the capsules on the map and dig up ones as well. The final Buu levels
yield most rare skills, so don't rush through them!

Q: How do I find the Dragonballs?
A: After the first level you really need to find the Dragon Radar on each level
and use that. Move until the red ball is in the centre of the radar and then
select the character with X but instead of moving, the character will dig up a
Dragon Ball, after the first level there are 6 more balls and eight levels. If
you miss a ball you can find two on the next and so on.

Q: How can I get the Breakthroughs I want quickly?
A: Well you have to slog through Dragon World until you get to the final battle
with Kid Buu as normal. Now when you have pretty much knocked him down to one
or two lights, EXIT Dragon World Mode so it saves. Now go back into Dragon
World Mode and pull out the memory card. Defeat Kid Buu then when it queries
your lack of card just select NO and continue to Shenron. If the Breakthrough
you want is not on offer, reset the game and then shove the memory card back
in. DO NOT SELECT CONTINUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Instead choose to LOAD GAME and
ignore the warning, then you can reload Dragon World Mode from where you saved
just before defeating Kid Buu. Now pull out the card and do it again. As soon
as the Breakthrough comes up that you want, stick the memory card back in so
that when you select it, it will save to the card, then just choose to continue
as normal. If you manage to balls this up, I take no responsibility for your
stupidity.

Q: Who's your favourite character?
A: Well in the game and the Anime I like Vegeta best of all. OK, Goku is the
hero, but Goku never seems to be as complex and multi-layered as Vegeta. I
love Vegeta's inner battles with his desire for power and the obvious happiness
he gets from his wife and son (even if he tries to deny it). He is also a nifty
fighter in the game. I love Super Buu, his battle with Gotenks is one of my
favourite parts of the saga, god Gotenks is SO ANNOYING I was cheering Buu on!
He's also fun to use with his Absorption ability. Finally, I like Android 18,
a powerful female fighter and damn sexy lady to boot!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
UNIVERSAL MOVELIST
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every character shares the same basic moves. These are covered in the Training
Mode, but for completions sake, here they are as well!

Basic Punch (P) Square
Basic Kick (K) Triangle
Energy Blast (E) Circle
Guard (G) Cross
Power Punches and Hold forwards or backwards at the same time as punch or
Power Kicks kick to perform more powerful uppercuts, hammerblows,
scissor kicks and roundhouses
Unblockable (P+K) Press punch and kick to do a close range unblockable attack
This will also launch an opponent in the air and initiate
air combat
Hop backwards (b, b) tap back twice
Dash (f, f) tap forwards twice
Dash Attack double tap forwards and punch or kick
Dodge back (u+G) Press up and Guard
Dodge to front (d+G) Press down and Guard
Throw/Combo (K+G) Kick + Guard
Recover Ki Hold down Guard and double tap back or forwards then hold
Transform (P+K+G) If skill is set you can transform into a stronger fighter
Deflect Ki (G) Press Guard just before Ki blast hits

Don't underestimate the usefulness of the basic kick and punch combos. Some of
the smaller and faster characters can be utterly devastating simply using
speedy strings of basic attacks, never giving the more powerful characters as
chance to power-up a signature move. You should always throw in plenty of the
power punches and kicks as well, as these can hurl opponents out of the ring on
some stages if they hit on a counter. The basic unblockable does little
damage, but is great for interrupting attacks and smacking your opponent up
into the air. Like with all fighting games, it's not your mastery of the big
flashy moves that matter, it's your handling of the basics that can be the
difference between success and failure!

When it comes to performing the powerful attacks listed below most of them
require Ki to perform. Your Ki gauge is listed under your energy bar and can
be maxed out at 6 levels. Certain moves require you spend a certain number of
Ki Levels to perform. So this is listed as so:

f + G Kamehameha (1K)

1K = 1 Ki level expended. Simple eh?

Some manoeuvres do not spend Ki, but require that level of Ki to maintain,
these are basically the transformations some characters have.

e.g: To maintain Super Saiyen 3, Goku must have 5Ki or more. If his Ki drops
below that he will stay at SSJ3 until he is knocked to the floor. Once that
happens he will revert to whichever form he has Ki to sustain. So if his Ki
was down to 3, he would drop from Super Saiyen 3 to Super Saiyen.

Certain moves in the game require you to twirl the analogue stick as quickly as
possible. If you use the palm of your hand to twirl BOTH stick at once you
fill the gauge TWICE as fast!

=========================================================================
**************** 3) DEFAULT CHARACTERS MOVELISTS ************************
=========================================================================

These are the eight characters that you can initially select in the game. I
have tried to be as comprehensive as possible listing all available moves, but
please if I have missed something (as I wanted to get the bulk of this FAQ up
fairly quickly and haven't managed to get 100% of the capsules) let me know
POLITELY! Thanks!

Also the comments are basically my first impressions, as this guide is updated
more considered responses and advice will be added as I get to spend more time
with all the characters.

SKILL NOTES:
* Goku's Super Saiyen can only be equipped if King Kai Fistx20 (or Kaioken
dammit!) is also equipped.
*If you twirl the analogue stick up the full gauge of the Continuous Kamehameha
you will do a tenth hit of extra damage.
* The Spirit Bomb moves can only be performed in King Kai Fistx20 mode or
normal mode
* If the Vegito/Gokule Fusion fails it cannot be performed again during battle
* Although the Vegito/Gokule Fusion capsule takes up seven slots, Goku will
have access to his NORMAL moveset
* The Vegito/Gokule fusion canot be performed in Tournament Mode or in Dragon
Wolrd mode (except when the story allows the Vegito fusion)

COMMENTS: Well as you would expect Goku is one of the best-rounded characters
in the game. With great speed, endurance and strength he is ideal for the
newer players to get to grips with. He can also be set up in a lot of
different ways, from sacrificing skills to be able to change into Vegito or
Super Saiyen 3, to piling on all kind of powerful attacks like the Spirit Bomb
at the expense of the ability to go to the highest level of Super Siayen. With
support abilities like Angels Halo which prevent Ki loss he is one of the best
in the game.

In battle your tactics will mainly focus around how you have set him up. If
you are planning on powering up to Super Saiyen 3 you will need abilities like
Angel Halo, so you are best then sticking to the basic Kamehameha attacks which
will now be much more powerful. Of course Spirit Bombs when he is in Kayoken
or Normal mode can be a real match finisher, but I have a hard time targeting
it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
b) GOHAN
------------------------------------------------------------------------

COMMENTS: Considering how powerful this form of Gohan is in the anime, I am
quite unimpressed with him here. Frankly he plays like a less powerful Goku
and some of his basic kick and punch combos seem to come out so slowly as well.
Not one of the fighters I choose to play much, Teen Gohan and Great Saiyaman
are much better.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
c) PICCOLO
------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIOG: Piccolo is an alien from the planet Namek. Initially one Namekian, he
split into two parts, one good one evil. The good part became earths guardian,
Kamesama. The evil part became King Piccolo who tried to destroy earth and was
defeated by young Goku in the original Dragon Ball. This evil Piccolo gave
birth to a new version who wasn't evil and actually became a mentor to Gohan
and ally to Goku in DBZ. Eventually he fused with Kame to gain the power he
needed to take on Cell in the middle of the Android saga. Originally a very
powerful character, he became more of a teacher and advisor as the series
progressed.

* Hellzone grenade requires you to be in Fuse With Kami mode
*If you twirl the analogue stick up the full gauge of the Special Beam Cannon
you will do a tenth hit of extra damage.

COMMENTS: This is more like it. Considering how much they made Piccolo suck
in the Psone Dragon Ball games, is great to see this Namek warrior back at full
potential. He has the longest legs in the game bar Cell and can play a great
push back game with them. Smaller fighters can have a hard time getting in
close when you have Piccolo going wild with the Fierce Ranma. I actually
prefer to use him mostly as a physical fighter, using the Piccolo Regeneration
skill to spend his Ki to limit damage. His combo speed and interrupt ability
are superb and with damage being soaked up by defence skills he can usually
last the distance and win.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
d) KRILLIN
------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIOG: One of the longest running characters, Krillin is Goku's childhood
friend. A powerful Shaolin Monk in the original Dragonball, he is soon
outstripped by Goku in DBZ when his Saiyen heritage is revealed. He pretty
much gives up fighting after the Cell games saga and settles down with his wife
former Android 18

SKILL NOTES:
*You must be in Potential Mode to use this move.

COMMENTS: Krillin can actually be quite a nifty fighter, I actually like to
play him as super offensive. I play most small fast fighters as super offence
and larger slower characters as more defend and counter. You do need to get in
close with him and if your larger opponent is using pokes to push you back you
may have problems. His Kamehameha does come out very quickly and can interrupt
a lot of other energy blasts. Destructo Disc is a little less easy to target,
I would only ever use it at the end of a successful combo, rather than on its
own. I tend to equip Rage!!! and/or Miracle Power to him and try and win as
fast as possible.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
e) TIEN
------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIOG: Another long running character, Tien is a rival and friend of Goku's, who
like Krillin becomes outclassed in power as the series progresses. After
helping to defeat Cell, he left to train elsewhere with his friend Chiaotzu.

* When you equip the Tiencha fusion capsule, although it takes seven slots,
both will still have access to their NORMAL moveset.
* The Tiencha fusion lasts as long as the timer, then if knocked down when its
is at zero they will break apart and refuse when their Ki is built up again.
*The Tiencha fusion cannot be performed in Dragon World or Tournament Mode

COMMENTS: I haven't really used Tien much to form a proper opinion. He does
have some good speed and Dodompa comes out VERY quickly and can interrupt a lot
of attacks, otherwise he fights pretty similarly to Yamcha.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
f) RADITZ
------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIOG: Goku's evil brother Raditz kicks off DBZ by arriving on earth intending
to destroy it. Until then Goku did not realise he was an alien. He is killed
when Piccolo and Goku team up against him.

also has a neat range of energy attacks. I would in fact equip more copies of
Double Sunday to power it up and forget about the other attacks and play a fist
fighting and Double Sunday game with him. In fact when I did some of the
Babadi's Spaceship games he was my top scorer in landing the most hits!

------------------------------------------------------------------------
g) KID TRUNKS

*The Gotenks fusion cannot be performed in Dragon World or Tournament Mode

COMMENTS: I expect if you chose Trunks you are probably going for the Gotenks
fusion, which is discussed in his own section. To be honest I will say the
same for Goten as well, if you aren't using the fusion, they are both decent
small fighters with a nice turn of speed, but basically, a bit dull to use.
Sorry.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
h) GOTEN
------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIOG: The second son of ChiChi and Goku. Goten is born soon after Goku dies
in the Cell saga and does not get to see him for seven years. Along with

character Gotenks.

*The Gotenks fusion cannot be performed in Dragon World or Tournament Mode

COMMENTS: Goten is possibly the quickest fighter in the game outside of Kid
Buu, but pays for this by having a teeny reach so if your opponent is playing a
keep out game you could be in trouble. Again if you aren't using the Gotenks
fusion this is like playing a mini Goku.. only not as fun.

* Although the Vegito Fusion capsule takes up seven slots, Vegeta will have

* The Vegito fusion cannot be performed in Tournament Mode or in Dragon Wolrd

COMMENTS: The man, the FREAKING man. Vegeta is my favourite character in the
anime and the game. He is almost as flexible as Goku, with the ability to
equip Angels Halo. He has stumpy arms and legs, but amazing punching speed. As
you power him up his Galick Gun gets ever more devastating, in fact I advise
ditching some attacks to power up just that one with extra copies. Many people
will be using three slots to use Babadi's Mind Control. This can be great but
also a waste if it only activates when you have about half your final health
bar left. Learn to do Majin Vegeta's Final Explosion Attack though and you
should have most fights in the bag!

b) YAMCHA

SKILL NOTES
*If you twirl the analogue stick up the full gauge of the Wolf Fang Blast you
will do a tenth hit of extra damage.
* Spirit Ball requires you tap in a random button combo to perform once
activated. Mess up and the attack misses and damages you instead!
* To activate the Tiencha fusion, either Tien or Yamcha must have at least 4Ki.
So you must tag them in and out of battle to build it up, you do this by
pressing P+K+G. They will switch in battle.

COMMENTS: Aww poor old Yamcha. I've just bee watching the original Dragon
Ball series where he was stalking Goku, Bulma and Oolong. He was always
outclassed by Goku and as you would expect he's not a great power character.
However that said, most of his attacks use little Ki so you can keep up an
assault of power moves raining down when others would have run out of energy.
Plus.. one of his costumes is his snazzy yellow suit from the Buu saga.. so
there.

c) NAPPA

After he fails to kill Goku, Vegeta kills him.

COMMENTS: I have honestly not used Nappa enough to get a fair impression of how

assessment in the next update.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
d) RECOOME
------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIOG: One of Captain Ginyu's commandos in the Ginyu Force. He defeated Vegeta
and nearly killed Gohan and Krillin. However he was easily beaten by Goku and
finished off by Vegeta.

SKILL NOTES
* All the special fighting poses do not do damage, but raise Recoomes defensive

COMMENTS: Again I have not used Recoome too much, but he seems to have a nice
turn of speed for a bulky character and a lot of power moves to play with.
You'll probably play a more defensive game with him, and the Fighting Poses can
raise your resistance to damage quite considerably.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
e) CAPTAIN GINYU
------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIOG: Leader of the Ginyu Force, he was the second strongest in the Universe
after Frieza. This is before Goku powered up to full strength potential. He
had the strange ability to change bodies with a person by shooting a beam out
of his mouth. He is not killed but tricked into swapping bodies with a frog.

SKILL NOTES

* Body changes does exactly that, if performed correctly you will changes
bodies for the rest of the fight. With all their moves etc and they will be in
Captain Ginyu's body with all his moves.
* Twirl the analogue stick to full gauge to do an tenth hit during the Parmesan
Shower.
* All the special fighting poses do not do damage, but raise Ginyu's defensive
power.

COMMENTS: This guy is FUN! Not only does he have good speed and power for
basic punch and kick combos, but don't you just love the name of his moves?
"Milky Cannon" comes out really quickly and never under estimate just how much
you can annoy an opponent by switching bodies with them during battle! I think
the fighting poses are not so useful here and Ginyu I think plays better in all
out offence mode, and if you are being beaten.. turn the tables by swapping
bodies, they will suddenly not know what commands to input and you can win a
cheesy win.. (hmm maybe that's why his moves have dairy product names...)

------------------------------------------------------------------------
f) FREIZA
------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIOG: The first really badass villain to appear in DBZ. He is responsible for
the destruction of the Saiyen race, which forces Vegeta to team up with Goku in
the end. He changes form several times, gaining power with each
transformation. He is defeated by Goku in an epic battle in space, but rebuilt
by his father King Cold. They go to earth seeking vengeance, but Future Trunks
appears and kills him easily.

SKILL NOTES
* When performing the Death Ball you need to spin the analogue sticks faster
than the other player to do more damage, or you may get it back in your face.
* Freiza's Spaceship skill works the same as full Senzu Bean. Freiza is
revived from KO with full health as mecha Freiza. No new moves are added
though.

COMMENTS This guy can be a tricky little swine. He has a lot of speed and
poking ability. His Death Beam comes out very quickly and he is one of several
characters to have a really fast "teleport" sidestep. This makes him ultra
hard to keep track of as he appears and disappears and its hard to judge which
way he as gone. Basically Frieza is ideal for harrying an opponent with
evasion and punch and kick flurries until you have enough Ki to finish the
fight with a couple of Death Beams and a Death Ball.

Freiza DOEs have a pretty awesome support ability. Frieza Spacehip will revive
him when Ko'ed, and drop him back into battle as "mecha" Freiza. You'll have
full health and whatever Ki level you had when you were knocked out. This is as
cheap as a Senzu Bean of course and unlike other transformations, this adds no
new moves to Freiza's repertoire. However it looks damn cool and makes the
bulbous headed freak even more deadly!

------------------------------------------------------------------------
g) FUTURE TRUNKS
------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIOG: This is an incarnation of Vegeta's son Trunks from an alternative future.
This version of Trunks comes from a future devastated by Androids 17 and 18.
He travels back in time and destroys Freiza with little difficulty, then saves
Goku's life and tries to create a better future by destroying the evil androids
in the past. Unfortunately this has the unforeseen consequence of bringing Cell
into being and Trunks has to stick around and help defeat him before returning
to the future in his Capsule Corp time machine.

COMMENTS: Trunks is much more satisfying to use that his younger self and the

use Trunks wide array of devastating energy attacks to pummel your opponent
into the ground.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
h) ANDROID 16
------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIOG: Another android built by Dr. Gero designed only to target and kill Goku.
However he turns against Cell who destroys him. He is rebuilt by Bulma and her
father and tries to use his self-destruct against Cell in the Cell games. He
fails leaving only his head, which is crushed by Cell.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
i) ANDROID 17
------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIOG: He along with his twin Android 18 are built by Dr. Gero to destroy Goku.
They however kill Dr.Gero and run amok destroying the Earth. It's only Future
Trunks' intervention in the past that results in him being absorbed in Cell.
Unlike Android 18 he is not freed, but he does reappear along with Dr.Gero in
Dragon Ball: GT

COMMENTS: Well pretty speedy and Energy Field is an excellent "push back" move.
To be honest though he plays pretty much identically to Android 18 and he
lacks her effective ranged Destructo Disc moves.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
j) ANDROID 18
------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIOG: Built by Dr. Gero, she and Android 17 are responsible for the destruction
of most of earth in Future Trunks timeline. However after she and Android 17
are absorbed by Cell, she is "punched" out of Cells body by Goku. Krillin has
fallen for her and she for him and he wishes for the bomb that would cause her
to self-destruct to be removed from her. Being part human she is able to have
a daughter with Krillin. She wins the Martial Arts Tournament, but allows
Hercule to seem to win to avoid publicity and get more money. She is killed by
Buu, but brought back at the end of the Buu saga along with everyone else who
died.

COMMENTS: Yay for Android 18. A beautiful, sexy and damn powerful FEMALE
fighter for us beautiful and sexy female gamers to play as! Seriously, she is
pretty good, lots of speed in her normal punch and kick combos. Energy field
is awesome for pushing people back and interrupting slower energy attack,
although it has a short range. She also has access to Krillin's ferocious
Destructo Disc to allow powerful follow-ups and counters to long distance
attacks. She along with Vegeta and Super Buu are my top three characters!

------------------------------------------------------------------------
k) DR.GERO (ANDROID 20)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIOG: A mad scientist who is trying to create the perfect fighting machine. He
creates Androids 16,17,18,19 before he decided to grow the organic Cell.
Unfortunately Androids 17 and 18 take exception to not being thought of as his
perfect androids and squish his brains out. Somehow he returns to wreak more
havoc in Dragon Ball: GT

COMMENTS: I wasn't expecting much from this guy; he looks pretty lame come on.
But like Capt. Ginyu, the potential to annoy the crap out of your opponents
with him is very high. Ki Blast Absorption can nullify most energy attacks if
you time your input right and Life Drain will suck life out of your opponent
and refill your health bar. He moves and fights pretty similarly to Androids
17 and 18, but rewards a more tactical and defensive play, draining Ki and life
out of more powerful enemies. One for the more advanced player I think.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
l) CELL
------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIOG: Cell is the perfect android built by Dr. Gero. He contains the cells of
all the greatest fighters. In the future he kills Trunks and uses his Time
Machine to travel back in time to before Androids 17 and 18 were destroyed so
he can absorb them and become perfect Cell. He is defeated by Teen Gohan after
Gohan unleashes his rage at Cell for killing his father Goku.
