The DMC Timeline (iirc):

DMC 3 -- > DMC 1 --> DMC 2 --> DMC 4 --> DMC 5.

DMC3 -- Introduces Lady/Marie, has Dante help her kill her father, as he has a brotherly spat with Vergil.

DMC1 -- Introduces Triss, Mundus, has Dante go off to Malay Island, where he kills Mundus and Vergil, and leaves with a Girlfriend.

DMC2 -- Introduces Nico's mother and Grandmother. Has Dante kill Nico's father, who was attempting to do evil shit with demonic power.

DMC4 -- Introduces Nero, Kirye, and Credo. Pits Nero against Dante, until Nero discovers that the Pope (whom he thought had been killed by Dante) isn't dead, and has long been trying to do evil shit with demonic power.

DMC5 -- Introduces V who is actually [REDACTED], who hires Dante & Friends to fight a demon known as Urizen ( who is actually [REDACTED] ). Together, they keep throwing themselves at Urizen/[REDACTED], until finally V [SUPER-REDACTED] with [REDACTED] and ultimately [SUPER-REDACTED]. At which point Dante and [REDACTED] go off to [SUPER-REDACTED], until Nero finally [SUPER-REDACTED], and then the game ends when [SUPER-REDACTED]. Altogether a 10/10 experience. Would recommend, did NOT see that coming. :')
