So 7 teams in each league make the playoffs? Just about half of baseball?
And you need to win 2 out of 3 to advance?
And the best record gets what, 5 days off?
That sounds absolutely terrible.
Also, picking your opponent is terrible and unprofessional. There is no way it can’t be taken as an insult because it is. Forcing teams to insult each other is bush league.
In MLB I could easily see a crappy team that squeaks into the playoffs knocking off a 2 seed in a 3 game series. It happens all season long. If I my team loses that way I’d be pissed. Even more pissed than losing a 1 game play in as a Wild Card team. At least if you lose that game you were at best a 4 seed and couldn’t win your division.
Not to mention that MLB doesn’t have a balanced schedule! Even this year, the Astros and Twins have an advantage over the Yankees because of the rest of their divisions. How can you reward the #1 overall record that much when you don’t have a fair playing field?
