I'm setting up a league and want some feedback re. this setup. I'm looking for critique re. balance between skaters and goalies primarily. Don't want either group having too much influence. fair and balanced.

Skaters:

I added hits, albeit a small .3 per just to give something for physicality. I think I took some points off +/- because I felt the scoring system unfairly rewarded a player for being on the ice regardless of individual influence and that players on better teams would be rewarded more than those on poor teams. Looking to reward individual play.

Goalies:

For the keepers, wins are arbitrary (a goalie on a high scoring team gets more wins) so I split the points between starts and wins. I also bumped the points by .1 for a save. Again, individual stats should be rewarded over team play.

Thanks. Again looking primarily to see if the adjustments I made gave either skaters or goalies too much influence. Thanks.

Skaters

Goals (G) 6
Assists (A) 4
Plus/Minus (+/-) 1
Powerplay Points (PPP) 1
Shorthanded Points (SHP) 1
Shots on Goal (SOG) 0.9
Hits (HIT) 0.3
Blocks (BLK) 1

Goalies
Games Started (GS) 3
Wins (W) 2
Goals Against (GA) -3
Saves (SV) 0.7
Shutouts (SHO) 5

yikes..

i see a lot of issues. a SOG being .9 points? whats the point of having a ppp and shp being worth 1 only? a player with 2 shots is worth more than a short handed goal? make the SHP/PPP worth more.. or just get rid of them (which is what i would do)

and the goalie stats overlap a lot.

a goalie with a 30 save shutout will automatically get a game started (3), a win (2), saves (21), and a shutout (5) thats 31 points for one night. in contrast, a goalie who loses a game 2-1 but makes 40 saves.. would get
25 points. you wouldnt even care if you have a goalie that wins a lot. you just need a goalie who has a lot of shots against. Robin lehner would have been a king in this style last year lol and he isn't even good.

honestly its all kind of a mess and pretty damn random.

Yeah, Randal beat me to saying in words what I was going to say in numbers.

0.7 points per save is *absurd*, and the only relevant goalies would be goalies that play a lot on teams that are bad at defense.

Frederik Andersen:
66 GS = 198
33 W = 66
169 GA = -507
1883 SV = 1318.1
4 SO = 40
=1115.1

Braden Holtby:
63 GS = 189
42 W = 84
127 GA = -381
1563 SV = 1094.1
9 SO = 90
= 1076.1

Robin Lehner:
58 GS = 174
23 W = 46
152 GA = -456
1758 SV = 1230.6
2 SO = 10
= 1004.6

So the #2-voted Vezina goalie... is worth less than a goalie that didn't get a single Vezina vote. And is worth only marginally (~7%) more than a goalie who was awful on an awful team.
